Running Away From You. - 1. Chapter 1

My heart aches,
my brain shakes with the effort to keep moving.
Right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot,
maybe the next step with help me forget,
this one? Please?

Professing my love to someone,
it’s hard enough to admit to myself,
let alone anyone else.

Being shot down,
humiliated.
I know you’re laughing behind my back,
I read too much into everything,
miss read your words,
expressions,
I thought I heard your love,
I thought you felt the same way,
I thought you were different.

When I looked at myself in that mirror,
I understood why,
words and glimpses flash in my head,
cruel insults in my voice,
piece by piece the mirror shatters to the floor,
taunting me,
each sliver screaming out at me.

Slipping out of the house,
quiet as a mouse.
Thoughts running wild,
my legs match my mind in speed,
running anywhere,
just away from where I once felt safe.

Amazing as always Bee. Your raw honesty shines through, and your willingness to put even hard things up there. Your language though is also stunning, and the way you use the metre and the structure to build the sense of clautrophobia followed by running into the open. You are a beautiful artist.

Don't ever change Bee.

:*) Thanks Roan, I still think my poems are shit, but I appreciate the feedback from you. Thank you very much for reading and reviewing.:)
