Astronomical Dusk - 2. The Empty Road

The Empty Road

Muted streetlights loom over like

giant anglers in pursuit of prey

Illuminating crackled sidewalks, electrifying the stars within

the glassphalt.

There is a weak breeze blowing,

but all is silent. All is still.

Even the post autumn leaves and

crisp flakes of ice remain undisturbed,

sleeping in quiet mounds along

shadowed gutters.

It is 6:30 p.m., and it is dark as I walk down the

empty road.

Soon, I will be home,

embraced by firelight and heat from

humming furnaces.

But I still have fifty

too

many

steps

left

to take.

The visual element of street lights leaning over like anglers of the night was a master stroke. I loved that.

The cold is never a nice place to be, but I do prefer the cold to the unbearable heat. Quandary! :P

Hurry up and get those fifty steps done and get in the warm Damit! :P

Running... running harder... running faster!! Thank you for stopping by Rob.
