Lyrics for Tony - a collection of poems - 8. jaded

Lyric No. 20

Haiku:

A poppy amongst

The bushes of rose, will bow

As the June wind blows.

Lyric No. 21

Sonnet:

Might jaded be the cruelest of concepts,

The one that will allow no sleep at night,

The tormentor with its holy precepts

That only might possesses what is right?

How many are the fucking sad moments

When doubt intrudes on dreams with its moaning,

To tick like a clock with its arguments

That nothing's ever come from my groaning.

How to pray for relief when even faith

Allows no creed to say I'm good enough;

How to foster hope when my mind's a wraith –

Ghostly concept smooth as a voice that's gruff.

No answers come to me, and so it is –

No torment can relieve, when all is his.

I wonder why the Lyrics for Tony make me predominantly sad, while the One Hundred and Fifty-Five sonnets (also for Tony) tend to lift me up.
Ít's a good kind of sad, though, for it opens memories that need to be remembered to feel whole.
Through the sadness I had to smile ... at the f-word. So unexpected.
A beautiful sonnet, that deserves to be read more than once. Thanks.

Thanks for your support, and for a fine review. I guess I won't tell you which number, but the f-bomb drops in at least of the Sonnets in the larger collection as well. Have fun exploring and looking for it - and thank you for thinking this sonnet is beautiful. That's wonderful feedback.

AC .. (deep breath here) This was wonderful, full of feeling. And while the f-word is a fav of mine and overused. Here, in this, it was so effective, it demanded to be read. It made the rest so much more real.

I've said it before, you're incredibly gifted.

tim

Thank you, Tim. With the f-bomb, I approach it like my Sunday-Best set of clothes: I don't wear it out so that when I need it, I can use it to effect.

Thanks for your compliments on my abilities. You'll turn my head some fine day :blushing:
