Lyrics for Tony - a collection of poems - 4. calliope

Lyric No. 8

No person lives without water,

But, tears are my only liquid –

Tremble, my only supporter;

My present, the way I've back-slid.

Lyric No. 9

If I have faith in but one thing,

It's that I might be loved by the stars,

And that hope might struggle to sing,

Knowing in me, I know all her bars.

So like a grand calliope,

The ethereal steam leaks out,

And thus muses music that be

Gaily festive, or sadly devout.

Yet, cold are the strokes of the stars,

That strain-by-strain mete out the blows

To sear inner worlds with tough scars,

Or sing tuneful hope before she goes.

Lyric No. 10

Misery sinks into my marrow,

Making for me its new life-blood.

But how will I feel on the morrow –

When drowning in its sanguine flood?

Eight and ten are so depressing, hopeless. Ugh!!! But I loved No. 9. That's exactly how it feels when the images and words are flowing. It's freeing and exhausting and exhilarating and you get a sense of accomplishment that almost feels like you DO have the stars whispering to you. At least, that's what I got from it. Great Job AC!!! Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, AC, that's all I can manage--#9 and #10 just resonated with me on a deep level beyond words. What you do with an image and a simple phrase just astounds me.

These poems also gave me chills.

The way you write poetry is so beautiful, AC. You should really submit these somewhere.
