Yertlatl: Wulf Healer - 1. Chapter One

Chapter One

“Grandma, Grandma tell me the story again. The one with the doggie and the lady," The little boy in a wolf onesie, jumped up and down on his bed.

"I don't think Wulfs appreciate being called dogs honey, but if you promise to settle down and go to sleep right after I will." Maria sat down on the bed, smiling.

The little boy impishly smiled. He rushed to the bathroom, brushed his teeth, and climbed back on his bed making himself comfortable.

Maria smiled and ruffled the little boy's black hair. "Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, there was a strong and great pack of wolfs roaming the lake, hills, and forests of Voul. They were careful of the humans never going outside of their woods. The only time you could see them was at night when they hunted and roamed the hills."

"Grandma go to the part where the dogg-- the Wulf and the lady meet." The little boy un-tucked his covers sitting crossed legged.

"I will Jaime. Now lay back down and let me finish otherwise I'm going to ask Abue not to make you any strawberry pancakes in the morning. Okay?" Maria retucked Jaime.

“Ok, Grandma.” Jaime hugged his stuffed bear.

"One night, when a strong young wolf was running through the forest a sweet and alluring smell caused him to almost crash into a tall oak tree. The smell made him anxious and restless. He followed the sweet smell of tart blueberries and the ocean breeze. The smell had led him to a moonlit clearing where he saw the most beautiful human he had ever seen. He stopped, confused. There was no other wolf in the clearing except the beautiful human who began to hum a song while she picked herbs and berries. The young Wulf laid down placing his head on his front paws. He watched her move effortlessly move from one berry bush to another occasionally digging beneath the bushes for roots. The human turned and saw the wolf watching her. She slowly got up, never taking her eyes of the wolf until she disappeared behind the cover of the trees and ran. The wolf wanted to run after her and tell her he wouldn't hurt her. Instead, he howled with frustration at the moon begging Lord Sola to allow him to take human form so he would be able to approach the beautiful woman without scaring her. Lord Sola heard the young Wulf's plea. He came down from the night sky to grant his wish on the condition he would help fight--"

Maria smiled. Her grandson had fallen asleep. She kissed the top of his head, turned the lights off and closed the door behind her.

Jaime tried finding a comfortable position in the worn hard seat of the bus, but each time he thought he did he would become uncomfortable again. Next time I'm going to take a sleeping pill so I can survive the four-hour trip, Jaime thought. He fixed his cap watching the scenery fly by. For the most part, Pruden was known for its lush forests, snowy mountains, large salt-water lake and its wide array of wild life. It wasn't uncommon for people to see deer roaming the woods, nibbling on grass or the occasional rabbit hopping about or even a pack of wolfs hunting. Jaime chuckled. He remembered the first time he had encountered a pack of wolfs. He must have been about five or six when his Grandmas found him playing fetch with a pack of wolfs in their backyard. Abue liked to tell this story anytime he brought a friend from Uni to spend spring break at their lake house. She would explain in great detail how each time they approached their grandson two wolfs would bare their teeth and growl menacingly. It wasn't until Jaime had noticed his grandmas and waved goodbye to the pack of wolfs did his Grandmas released a sigh of relief. Jaime thought his Grandmas were exaggerating. He most likely had been playing with the neighbor's dogs like he normally did. Jaime felt his phone vibrate in his back pocket.

"Alo," Jaime said.

"Mijo, are you almost there? Your Grandma and Abue keep calling us asking us what time you're getting there."

Jaime smiled when he heard his Daddy's voice. He hadn't seen his Daddy and Apa since last year. Jaime's parents spent most of the year abroad resorting ancient works of art or helping a colleague with a dig site. The rest of the year they taught at the local community college. When he and his older brother and sister had been younger, they had traveled with them, but that was ages ago. His older brother had joined the Alexandrian Royal Navy when he had turned eighteen and was quickly rising through the ranks. His older sister had gone up north to finish her Doctorate' thesis and was teaching a high college freshman course on Alexandrian Myth, and he had gone off to college.

"We just passed Melson. Maybe half an hour more, depending on how long I take getting a cab." Jaime immediately regretted having told his Apa about taking a cab.

“Jaime, why are you taking a cab? When your Grandmas offered to pick you up.” Jaime heard his Apa yell through the phone.

Jaime pulled the phone away from his ear. He felt a slight ringing in his ear. "Apa no me regañe. I didn't ask my Grandmas to pick me up because it's summer when it's the busiest at the restaurant. Even when they're fully staffed, it's hard for them to get their orders out."

His Apa satisfied with Jaime's answer said goodbye. He needed to check on the dig site they were working on.

“Okay, Mijo. I’ll call your Grandmas and let them know so they don’t worry,” Daddy said, “ I’m sorry we couldn’t be at the house for summer break, but we promise that we will be back before you have to go back finish your apprenticeship.”

“I know Daddy. Don’t worry. I love you.”

“We love you too. Bye Mijo.”

“Bye.”

When he hung up, he saw the bus station in the distance. He got his things ready so that he could leave the bus station as soon as possible.

Outside of La Flor Blanca, the sound of utensils scraping plates, laughter, crying children, hushed conversations and the occasional shout from a marine on leave could be heard. Jaime had spent countless summers, and spring breaks here helping his grandmas waiting tables, ringing up customers and assisted the kitchen when he was older. The cab pulled in front of the roofed patio, where customers enjoyed their breakfast platters, chatted were on their phones, his stomach growled. He paid the cab fair gathering his belongings. He walked through the glass double door in the middle of the patio and made his way to the kitchen. He saw a few of his grandmas' regulars and waved to the few waiters he recognized.

Jaime wished he had seen his best friend getting her daily slice of pumpkin pie, but he didn't see her. Last he heard she was getting her bachelors in Library Science while working on getting her bookstore open and trying to get pregnant. Jaime made a mental note to call her once he had food in his belly and a good night sleep. Jaime opened the kitchen door; he saw his grandmas in the small office in the back. Both of his grandmas were in their late fifties, slightly above average height. Gray hair had started to grow in their brunette hair. His Abue had dyed it. His Grandma, on the other hand, had let it grow.

“Grandma, Abue I’m here.” He approached his grandmas dropping his bags and hugging them both.

“Niño!” Maria said, “Don’t you know how worried we were when you didn’t answer your phone? We had you call your dads to make sure you were okay.”

Jaime released his grandmas from his hug. "Sorry, Grandma. I was asleep. I didn't feel my phone vibrate when my dads called me I was just waking up. Next time I'll make sure it has a ringtone." “It’s fine, Mijo. Just make sure next time that you answer the phone when we call you. Okay?” Maria smiled. She had missed her grandson.

A new waiter dropped a tray of food as he was heading out. He made Jaime and his Grandmas jump.

“Carlos next plate comes out of your paycheck.” Maria walked over to the new waiter continuing to chew him out for his mistake.

"Abue, is it strawberry season here? I swear I smelled wild strawberries as soon as I come in." Jaime asked, confused. As far as he knew the strawberry season was in the early spring.

"Did you miss your Abue's strawberry pancakes?" Guadalupe chuckled seeing her grandson blush, "No, Mijo. It's in the spring. Instead, how about I make you a Caldo de Mariscos, or if you really want pancakes I can make you some with cajeta?"

“Some pancakes with cajeta, Abue. Please,” Jaime said, “Oh and some canela porfa.”

“Okay Mijo, leave your bags here and go find a table to sit down on.”

“Thank you Abue.”

Jaime answered a few pending emails on his phone as soon as he sat down. The sounds of the restaurant faded into the background as he focused on answering his emails. A waiter Jaime didn't recognize placed his cajeta pancakes with bacon, hash browns and a cup of canela with milk and sugar on the table. He thanked the waiter and began eating his pancakes. Halfway through his breakfast, he felt someone trying to burn a hole through him. Jaime looked up to see a 6ft tall, broad shoulder, red hair marine in his MARPAT staring at him. The red head Marine held Jaime's gaze with more gusto once discovered. A strong scent of wild strawberries hit him hard followed by a light and delicate scent of mint. It made him dizzy, weak in the knees and erect. The red hair marine paid for his meal and left, but not before he looked at Jaime one more time and smirked.

"The fuck just happened," Jaime whispered.

Jaime had gotten excited at the sight of a hot guy before, but not like this. Not with such an extreme urgency to release his tension and the need to make the red hair marine submit to him. His thoughts were interrupted when his Grandmas sat down with a pot of coffee and a tray of pastries. Jaime spent the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon answering his grandmas' questions and Jaime finding out who had married whom, the recent wolf attacks, and how the restaurant was doing. The red hair marine was long forgotten. The sun set behind White Peak Mountains casting shadows over Lake Oulo. Jaime's Grandmas offered him their guest room, but Jaime had declined. Reluctantly, Maria and Guadalupe hugged him and told him to be careful.

Jaime felt so bloated. He regretted having eaten so much. He plopped onto his bed happy to finally be home. His Grandmas had someone clean the house and make it livable. There were a few things he still had to do, but those could wait until the morning. Jaime fell asleep rocked by the slight breeze coming from the open window unaware of the large Wulf, with blue eyes, a dark coat black as night, and a jagged streak across his left eye, watching the second-floor window where he slept peacefully.

The next few days were a blur for Jaime. During the morning he would help his Grandmas at their restaurant. Then he would spend the rest of the afternoon either cleaning his house or at the local library looking for a new book to read. On days when it was slow, they would spend a day by the lake having a cook out. Jaime liked his new routine. It was less stressful than having to do house calls for clients who had been previously healed but hadn't followed the treatment, playing bill collector, answering easily found questions in the practices' FAQ section of their website, and dealing with the unique customers who distrusted anyone outside of their social circle. His Grandmas' story about him playing with wolfs seemed more real now that he had first-hand experience dealing with one of Master Theo's unique client.

Throughout the week, Jaime frequently saw the red hair Marine order the same thing. A cup of black coffee, blueberry pancakes with an extra order of bacon and extra hash browns, and a side of toast. The Marine packed so much food Jaime was impressed but wasn't surprised. Jaime had the suspicion the red hair marine was a Wulf. Earlier in the week one of the new waiters accidentally dropped a cup of hot coffee on him, and he hadn't even flinched. However, he had let out a low, menacing growl. Jaime went to apologize expecting the Marine's anger to be directed towards him, but the Marine instead greeted him with the scent of wild strawberries and a nervous smile. Jaime almost lost his composure. Jaime had the impression the Wulf was a rough, aggressive and arrogant man. Jaime apologized explaining his meal was on the house and next time he visited La Flor Blanca one of their more experienced waiters would help him. The marine nodded quietly leaving.

Luckily the Wulf hadn't arrived at his usual time. Jaime was happy he didn't have to take his order since the Wulf only behaved when Jaime took care of his order. However, Jaime had to admit he enjoyed looking into those deep blue eyes and catching a glimpse of the Marine's rare smile.

“Mind if I sit here?” Someone asked.

Jaime glanced from his book to see the young Wulf standing at ease. I thought Alpha Wulf did what they wanted? Jaime thought. He waved his hand to the chair and resumed reading.

“Are you on your break?” The Marine tried to meet Jaime’s hazel eyes.

“No, I don’t work here.” Jaime briefly glanced away from his book, “I only help out when my Grandmas are under staffed.”

The red hair marine nodded waving one of the waiters over never taking his eyes of the Jaime. Once the waiter left the Wulf just sat awkwardly staring at the young man and stirring his black coffee.

"Please stop staring, if you want to ask me something ask. Otherwise, I'll be forced to kick you out of the restaurant." Jaime said, "and wipe that smirk off your face. You're not the first marine I had to put in his place."

The Marine released a hearty laugh. The whole restaurant attention shifted towards them. He saw three marine Wulfs respectfully look down when Jaime caught their gaze.

"Those are fighting words healer." The Marine chuckled. "I'm Hector and I though Yerbateros were peace loving and shied away from violence?"

"We are, but we can be ruthless when provoked," Jaime answered, annoyed.

He wanted the young Alpha to leave him alone. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with the ego of an Alpha, even if said Alpha excited him anytime he was near him.

“I’m getting the feeling that I’m annoying you, but I’m sensing that you don’t want me to leave.” Hector grinned as he looked at Jaime’s midsection. Hector chuckled when the young Yertbatero blushed.

He was starting to like Jaime more and more. Ever since he first had smelled an intoxicating scent of dark chocolate and the soothing smell of cinnamon a week ago. He had wanted to mate with Jaime then and there, but he had controlled himself. Unfortunately, he had an erection for the rest of the day. A few of his buddies back at the barracks had teased him. Saying his mate had left him with blue balls.

"Go on a date with me," Hector said.

“What?” Jaime asked, surprised.

"You heard me." Hector smiled." I have three days of leave. We could go to the drive-thru theater, hike thru the forest or go for a swim in the lake." Hector took Jaime's book placing it gently down.

Hector smiled at the thought seeing the Jaime in a speedo. The hair peeking out off his shirt matted with water as he walked out the lake, but he growled at the thought of other people seeing the young man naked.

“Thank you for the invitation, but I’m not looking to--.”

"Here's your check, sir." The waiter said, "When you're ready to pay, please head to the register in front."

Hector growled at the waiter frustrated they had been interrupted. He was sure he could convince the young man to go on a date with him. The only problem would be how would he tell him he was Wulf and Jaime was his mate. Jaime took the opportunity to escape thru the kitchen and left through the back door. The young Wulf cursed under his breath rushing after him, reaching the back door as it closed. When he got outside, he didn't see or smell the healer anywhere. Hector punched a nearby tree causing a large crack in it. He cursed, paid his bill, and headed to the one place he knew where to find his mate.

Hector parked his 2004 silver Chevrolet S-10 outside of the brick two-story house near the edge of town surround by lush forest. Varies fruit trees covered the front of the house, partly covering the four large arching windows and barely touching the bottom of the square windows lining the second floor. Hector saw Figs, Oranges, Limes, Mandarins and Quince trees as he made his way up the porch. He knocked the forest green door. Hector waited a few minutes before knocking again. He smelled Jaime inside. He knocked again more aggressively this time.

“Jaime, I know you’re inside.” Hector leaned on the door, resisting the urge to break down the door and claim his mate, “I only want to talk. I promise.”

He heard Jaime walk to one of the windows and saw the beige curtains being pulled back, hazel eyes staring at him, deciding if to let the Wulf in.

"Please," Hector begged, surprised.

The curtain fell back, the locks on the door unlocked and the door partly opened. Hazel eyes peered through the crack. Hector smiled. He was thinking how good Jaime's short and trimmed beard would feel against his skin when he finally got to kiss him. Hector realized Jaime wasn't going to invite him inside. Maybe Jaime was afraid him? He was a couple of inches taller than him, and his muscles intimidated others. Most people didn't dare approach him. Hector let out a soft whine. He didn't want his mate to be afraid of him. He wanted his mate to feel protected.

“I came to apologize if I came on too strong.” Hector tried to make himself smaller and less intimating, “ However, I still want to go on a date with you, if you want and we could do whatever you want.”

Jaime gazed at the Alpha Wulf begging in front of him. He did find himself attracted to him, and he did want to spend more time with him, but the last time he had dated a Wulf, things had ended badly. He had promised himself he would only get involved with Wulfs professionally. However, those blue eyes seemed only to want to please Jaime. The ease in which he displayed his confidence and the way his muscles flexed everything he moved and hugged his woodland/winter MARPAT were breaking his resolve to say no.

"My name is Jaime," Jaime smiled, opening the door slightly further, "and you don't take no for an answer do you?"

“Sir, no, Sir.” Hector smiled relief washed over his body.

Jaime smiled at the Wulf's response. "So where are you going to be taking me, then?"

"Anywhere you want," Hector said.

“Anywhere?”

“Anywhere.”

"Okay, we'll go to the drive-thru theater tomorrow night at 4:00 pm, they have an Evil Man marathon at 5 pm. That should give us enough time to get snacks and find a good spot to see it." Jaime said, "and maybe afterward we could go to Unnie's Diner."

Hector felt pride and lust at his mate’s take-charge attitude. He instinctively moved closer showing his neck wanting to feel the healer’s teeth. Jaime took a step back baffled at Hector’s actions. Hector cleared his throat and took a step back.

“I’ll come pick you up at sixteen hundred tomorrow.” Hector turned to leave.

“Wait.” Jaime opened the door fully.

Hector stopped and turned.

“How did you know where my house was?”

Hector cursed under his breath. He couldn't tell him he had followed his scent that first morning he had seen him. "I asked one of the waiters where you lived, and they told me."

“And they told you without hesitating?”

“I can be very persuasive.” Hector winked.

“Okay. See you tomorrow then.” Jaime closed the door.

Hector was happy, and nothing could ruin his mood. He had found his mate only after having searched for four years. One of the reasons he had decided to join the Alexandrian Royal Marines. What better way to travel the world and for free? He's younger brother had found his mate a year back, and was happily married with a third pup on the way. However, many Wulfs weren't as lucky and paired with other unmated Wulfs to continue their lines. Lord, he needed to run to burn off the excess energy. He turned into the familiar dirt road where his log cabin stood in a clearing. He had needed a secluded and private place to store his belonging when he went out for a run. It had been run down when he first got it, but he had restored it. He was proud of the extra room he had added before he had to report to his new base. The electricity and plumbing had taken a little longer, but he had gotten them running.

Hector ran through the forest feeling the soft crumbling of the leaves on his paws leaving his MARPAT locked inside his truck. He felt so unrestrained he hunted a small doe feasting on his prize wishing he could share it with his mate. By the end of his run, he felt energized and ready to take over the world.

Jaime slid down the door as Hector's truck pulled away. What had he gotten himself into? He didn't want to deal with another instinct driven, possessive Wulf. The last one had left him scarred and broken. He had the bill from the hospital to prove it. Luckily he had been saved by a silver Wulf before he was broken beyond repair. He never found out whom the silver Wulf had been and if his attacker had been punished.

Jaime felt a tear run down his face realizing he had been crying. Jaime cursed. He wiped his tears walking down the hall to the backyard. He passed the living room on the right: where two couches, one a few feet away from the windows and the other with its back to the hall sat along with two love seats, facing the windows. The furniture was arranged in a semi circle facing a flat screen mounted on the wall with varies entertainment systems on a cabinet. A metal and glass table sat in the middle. Jaime passed a door next to the living room that led to a small bathroom and a spiral staircase leading to the second floor. On the left, a large dining table with chairs sat next to it was the kitchen separated by island counter.

"Don't cry, Jaime. You know tears don't help. You can take care of yourself know. You've been trained." Jaime sat down in the hammock he and his sister had put between the two birch trees when they had been younger.

Jaime had felt strength emanating from Hector, but it had felt protective and non-threating. He hadn't pressured Jaime or forced him to do anything he didn't want to do and had submitted to him. Which Jaime found weird, especially since most Alphas and wannabe Alphas he had met tried to make him submit to them. Jaime hadn't since he could claim he was human and not mated to a Wulf. Fuck, Hector might be my mate, that's why I was able to pick up distinct scents coming off him, Jaime thought. He lay down on the hammock.

"I need to talk to my Grandmas." Jaime stayed a little longer feeling the rays of the midday sun dancing on across his skin and warming him up. He gathered his thoughts and went inside to see what advice his Grandmas would give him. As he closed the door, a massive black Wulf with blue eyes slowly crept out of the forest edge and whined.

Hector had returned from his run when he felt an intense pang of emotional distress. His first reaction was to shift while running full speed towards Jaime's house, but when he arrived, he saw Jaime peacefully lying in a hammock enjoying the sun's rays. Hector paced deciding if he should shift back to his human form and comfort him. However, how would he explain how he knew Jaime was in emotional pain? Hector couldn't tell him it was because he was Wulf and Jaime was his mate. No, that would freak him out, and Jaime might reject me, Hector thought. He had heard stories of humans rejecting their mates because of their wolf. Hector hoped his mate felt as strongly about him as did because when he decided to reveal who he was, he hoped Jaime would still accept him.

Hector paced for a couple of more minutes waiting for Jaime to calm down. When

Jaime finally did Hector checked the perimeter of the house trying to sense any danger but found none. He howled at the moon praying tomorrow would go a lot smoother than today.

Jaime answered the door after the third knock. He was wearing a blue and white-checkered hoodie over a white graphic t-shirt depicting an overly muscular man standing over a pile of dead zombies. A post-apocalyptic world served as the backdrop. His undercut had been slicked back with gel. A small ponytail, which curled, held the ends of his hair. A pair of faded fitted dark blue jeans and white converse completed his look. Hector found the tuft of hair peeking out of Jaime's shirt sexy. The cut of the hoodie and showed off Jaime's husky body. Hector let out a low growl.

“You’re not wearing your MARPAT?” Jaime asked.

Hector smiled, his mate liked seeing him in his uniform, “I’ll wear it next time if you like.”

"No, it's okay. You don't have to. You look just as good in a t-shirt, jeans, and boots." Jaime smiled, locked the door and walked to the passenger's side of the silver Chevrolet.

Jaime liked the way Hector looked. It seemed he had dressed to show off for him. The button down gray V-neck shirt stretched over his thick biceps and muscular pecs. His black jeans hugged his bubble butt and showed off his muscled thighs and calves. The beige work boots made Hector looked more masculine and attractive.

Before Jaime was able to open the door, Hector was already at his side opening it for him. He waited for Jaime get in, buckled his seatbelt before he closed the door and rushed to the driver's side. He buckled his seatbelt and looked at Jaime.

“Ready?” Hector turned the engine on turning the radio down.

Jaime nodded. Hector grinned as he began the hour-long drive to the other side of town.

Jaime had planned on paying for his ticket, but Hector had insisted he paid for both since he had invited Jaime. Jaime only agreed if he paid for half the snacks. They found the perfect parking spot, hooked the speaker up to the truck and got in line for the concession stand.

“Have you been here before?” Hector scanned the crowd for any danger.

"Yeah, a few times actually with my family," Jaime replied. "And once on a date with a guy in high school."

Hector growled when Jaime mentioned dating someone else other than him.

Jaime laughed. "You must be super hungry for your stomach to growl like that. Don't worry if I remember correctly they sell huge slices of pizza with a drink for cheap and nachos as well. If you want you to, we could get a large order of nachos to share and order two pizza combo."

“Yeah, I have a pretty big appetite.” Hector grinned scratching his head in embarrassment.

Hector felt relief his mate had confused his growl for hunger and not anger. While they waited in line, Hector found out that Jaime's Dads where archeologist who traveled the country. He had an older brother and sister who were fraternal twins. His older brother was currently stationed in the south of Aguil, and his older sister was finishing her Masters' theses on medieval Yertaberism Teachings up north.

"Do you have any brothers and sisters?" Jaime asked as they walked back to the truck. He had paid half of their food with the two hundred Soles Hector had given him and the rest of it with his card.

"Two brothers and a sister. My younger brother is married and helps Dad run the family business. My sister just started her second term in college, and my older brother is living abroad. We usually all get together for the holidays."

“That’s good. We usually aren’t able to get together for the holidays or birthdays, but when we do we try to spend as much time together as we can.” Jaime answered adjusting the slices of pizza he was carrying.

Hector placed the nachos on top of the tray that held a bag of sour gunny worms, and his soda. With his right arm, Hector gave Jaime a one-arm hug. Jaime pulled closer to Hector, and Hector smiled. He could get used to this. The opening credits were playing when they got to the silver Chevrolet. Jaime unhooked Hector's arm and went to sit inside the Chevrolet. Hector enjoyed watching the movies with his mate, even if he didn't usually enjoy horror movies. He liked thrillers and actions films. What Hector enjoyed the most was watching Jaime's excitement when the male lead would deliver his one-liners or when Jaime would move closer when a jump scare was coming. He even caught Jaime taking a whiff of his scent. Hector smiled putting his arm around Jaime. Jaime got comfortable pulling Hector's arm closer to him. The marathon finished four hours later. As soon as the credits began to roll, they threw away their trash and decided to head to Unnie's Diner.

“Hector, hang on. I have to go to the bathroom. Be back in a sec.” Jaime ran towards the bathrooms.

Hector didn't have time to respond before Jaime was halfway across the parking lot. Hector climbed back onto his truck turning the radio on. Hector had enjoyed spending time with his mate, but it had been hard for him to keep himself in control. Being in close quarters with his mate and his addictive scent had made him excited throughout the whole night. He had to adjust himself a couple of times. Jaime didn't seem to notice his eyes glued to movies. It became even harder when Jaime began to run his hand across his arm caressing his arm hair. He had let out a low growl but had contained himself. Hector sighed. Once he told Jaime, who he was, he might not get to enjoy Jaime's scent or touch anymore. When Jaime hadn't returned from the bathroom, Hector began to get agitated. He turned in the cab hoping to see Jaime coming out of the bathroom, but he didn't see Jaime anywhere. Hector threw the door open running towards the bathrooms.

Jaime felt a jet of cold air hit him when walked out of the bathroom. Lord, how he wished he had brought his sweater instead of leaving it in the truck. Sometimes, he envied Wulf genetics, their regeneration, speed, superior hearing, and smell and for some reason higher body temperature. Now was one of those times. Next time he would have Hector take him to an actual movie theater and maybe feel Hector's strong arm wrapped around him. He felt a warm tongue lick his hand.

"Hey, there puppy. Are you lost?" Jaime turned.

A gray husky, with black patches on his brown eyes, stared back at Jaime. He licked Jaime hands again and took off running to the forest behind the restrooms. When Jaime didn't follow him, he turned back barking.

“Okay, okay hold on I’ll follow you. Just let me get my sweater and–”

Jaime felt a sharp prick on his arm followed by the sound of heavy footsteps before he lost consciousness. When he woke up, he was in the backseat of a truck, blind folded with his feet and legs tied. Jaime heard two voices coming from the front of truck both Wulf, maybe an enforcer and a junior enforcer, but Jaime wasn't sure. He could tell one of them was older than the other. From the bits, he understood he was being brought to their Alpha. Shit, why an Alpha? Jaime thought. Hector was going to go on a rampage thinking something had to him. The thought of dealing with an out of control Alpha made Jaime shiver even if said Alpha was his own. Jaime froze. He had just called Hector his Alpha.

The truck stopped. Jaime heard the driver's door open followed by the crunching sound of gravel beneath heavy boots. He decided to play along until he found out where he was. Once he knew he would teleport back to the drive-in theater. Jaime had teleported twice so far, once when he had been younger and the other day to escape Hector's advances.

"Good, you're awake. Means you can walk." The older Wulf untied Jaime's legs and took off the blindfold.

Jaime stayed quiet following the two Wulfs into what he assumed was the main house. Both Wulfs were about the same height and built like a brick house. The older Wulf had a scruffy brown beard, and the younger one was clean-shaven. If Jaime didn't know any better, he would have thought they were brothers, but most likely they were father and son. The younger Wulf opened the large white double doors, Jaime thanked him. The young Wulf immediately looked down.

"Move it. The Alpha's waiting." The older Wulf pushed him through the door.

The house was beautifully decorated in shades of reds and whites. Long flowing curtains covered the large open windows. Large paintings depicting the pack's milestone were meticulously placed along the large sunroom on the right of the house. A grand staircase led to the second floor where the Alpha Family slept. The older Wulf pushed Jaime into a spacious office leaving him to his thoughts. His phone was gone, but they allowed him to keep his wallet. Jaime approached the large mahogany desk in the center of the back of the room. A few knickknacks and a frame decorated it. He approached the large window pulling the curtains he saw enforcers patrolling the grounds. His thoughts split between planning his escape and dealing with Hector. Someone knocked on the door; a tall, handsome silvered haired, broad shoulder man come in. If Jaime had to guess he was in his late seventies, even if he looked a lot younger.

"Thank you for coming so late at night. We usually don't ask for outside help unless we need it." The Alpha smiled.

"I didn't have much choice did I?" Jaime kept his gaze on the Wulfs patrolling the grounds.

“Excuse me?” The Alpha asked, confused.

"I'll have to admit, using the scent of a dog to mask the Wulf's scent to throw me off was genius." Jaime turned to look at the confused Alpha. It was the first time a pack had kidnapped him to ask for his help. "What drug did you guys use to knock me out? It was very effective."

The stunned Alpha stood speechless.

Jaime smirked. "If I had to guess it was either a mix of passion flowers or hops with lavender and chamomile. Maybe even valerian.”

Jaime smiled. He had never seen an Alpha look so uncertain and confused. He probably didn't even realize his enforcers had kidnapped him. The Alpha approached Jaime cutting the rope binding his hands with a claw excusing himself. Jaime heard a loud growl followed by a yip and a loud crash. His Uname might be rusty, but he understood both enforcers were going to be punished even further for mistreating an honored guest. Since when was I an honored guest, Jaime thought. The Alpha walked into the office followed by two bruised, limping enforcers who now sported broken noses.

“I would like to apologize for the treatment you received tonight.” The Alpha bowed growling at his two enforcers.

"We apologize for our behavior, Yertlatl. We'll accept any punishment you think we deserve." The older Wulf bowed followed immediately by, the younger Wulf.

Ah, that's why the Alpha had called him an honored guest. One slip up he had made, and now he had packs from all over the country to deal with, Jaime though.

"I'm sure your Alpha can come up with a reasonable punishment for you, but first I would like my phone back. My alpha will worry if he doesn't hear from soon, but I'm pretty sure he's on his way." Jaime said.

The Alpha returned his phone and dismissed the two enforcers. "I'll make sure my enforcers are on the look out for an Alpha Wulf, so they don't engage in a fight. I fear otherwise I'll lose a couple of fighters for keeping an alpha from his mate."

"I'm Jaime by the way." Jaime stretched out his hand.

The Alpha shook Jaime’s hand sitting behind his desk. "I'm Alpha Mauricio Montes. Please have a sit. Now the reason I've asked you to come here so late is our son. He’s no longer able to shift because of how ill he has become. Our doctors have runs varies tests and came to the conclusion he’s suffering from monkshood poisoning. When we got the results, we made the doctors rerun the tests, but the results were the same."

"Did you find out who was poisoning him?"

"Yes. They’ve been dealt with."

"Well, then you have nothing to worry. The Monk's hood should be out of his system with in a few weeks. Just make sure he stays hydrated and has plenty of rest." Jaime stood up.

"Stay!" Alpha Mauricio’s chair screeched as it was slammed against the bookshelf behind the desk.

Jaime sat down praying he would be able to teleport off the pack lands.

“Sorry, please forgive me Yertlatl.” Alpha Mauricio bowed regretting his outburst. Jaime only nodded.

"We have tried everything, but he's getting worse. Please, I beg you. Heal our son." We know you can. We heard you healed a junior enforcer from the another pack from silver poisoning." Alpha Mauricio knelt in front of Jaime in a sign of submission. He hoped it would be enough to convince the Yertlatl into helping him.

Wulfs tended to exaggerate things. All he had done was pull out two arrows laced with silver, made the Wulf drink a small amount of monk's hood to remove the silver and let the Wulf's healing take over. It also didn't help that he had slipped up saying he was a Yertlatl, which hadn't been wrong, but to the Wulfs it meant more than a healer. It meant a powerful Savior appointed by Lord Sola, a leader and the highest authority in their world. Plus it must have been hard for an Alpha to submit to someone else. It went against their nature.

"Okay, I'll see what I can do," Jaime said.

"Thank you. Thank you so much." Alpha Mauricio rose.

Jaime saw relief wash over the Alpha's face as he led Jaime up to his son room. Hopefully, I can heal him. Otherwise, I'll have to deal with two angry Alpha, Jaime though.

Hector didn't feel the rocks beneath his paws as he ran or the low hanging branches scratching him as he ran thru the forest. All he cared about was finding his mate and punishing those who had taken him from him. When Hector had reached the bathrooms, he was hit with the scent of two strange Wulfs mixed with his mate's scent. He followed the scent into the forest coming to a dirt road. There were fresh tire marks. He shifted not bothering to take his clothes off and ran. He had been running through the forest for the last hour and a half when he came upon a large mansion. He sensed other Wulfs near him, but they were keeping a distance from him, but more importantly, he smelled Jaime inside. He ran to the door shifting as he broke open the large white double doors.

Jaime’s eyes watered when he entered the room. It smelled of sickness and sweat. A young pale bared chested sickly looking Wulf, with short black hair, and brown eyes, shifted restlessly on the bed. His eyes glazed over following phantoms. Next to him was a woman in her early forties with the first sign of gray hair trying to make sure he was comfortable as possible. Alpha Mauricio approached her introducing Jaime as the healer he had brought to cure their son. She only nodded her attention never leaving her son. Alpha Mauricio had to pull her away for Jaime to examine him.

Jaime placed a hand on alpha’s son’s chest and head. He felt the gentle tug of his magic wrapping itself around the sick Wulf. The Wulf twitched but remained the same. Jaime felt the slow trickle of information from his magic become a waterfall. He calmly sorted it until he had a full understanding of the situation. Several major organs were deterring faster than they could heal. The sick Wulf's heart and lungs were barely working, his nervous system fried, and his intestines littered with ruptures. He was surprised the Wulf had survived this long with the dose of Monkshood running through his veins. Using silver would the bind the Monkshood and stop it from poisoning him. However, silver was a Wulf's Achilles' heel he would have to start healing as soon as the Wulf vomited the silver bound Monkshood.

"Do you have any silver?" Jaime calmly assessed the alpha’s reaction, " Preferably, ground up silver.”

“Silver?” Alpha Mauricio yelled.

The Alpha pulled Jaime away from his son slamming him against the wall pulling him up by the collar of his shirt. “You want me to kill my son?”

“Silver binds Monk’s Hoods. Stops the poisoning. He’ll start convulsing and vomit it out.” Jaime tried to find footing so we wouldn’t choke.

The angry alpha lessened his grip on Jaime. He was deep in thought. Jaime hadn't noticed the bags underneath the Alpha's gray eyes or the tiredness in them, the confidence he had felt when he had introduced himself was replaced with worry and self-doubt. He understood what the Alpha was going through. He was asking him to help him kill his son. His wife had a sharp focus on him. Jaime could see she wanted to kill him.

The bedroom door shattered as a very furious and very naked Hector broke through it. Splinters and wood shards flew everywhere. The enforcer who had been guarding the door was on the floor unconscious. Enforcers and fighters rushed through every entrance available to protect their alpha from the enraged Wulf.

Hector rushed towards Mauricio ripping Jaime's shirt, grabbing Mauricio by the neck and threw him across the room. Mauricio landed at his wife's feet. Hector placed himself between Jaime and the alpha. "You! I'm going to make you pay for hurting my mate."

Jaime cursed. Now he had two angry alphas to deal with. Plus his favorite shirt had ripped. He placed a hand on Hector’s naked shoulder. “Hector I’m fine. Please calm down.”

Hector growled not backing down. Two enforcers had placed themselves in front of Mauricio and his wife followed by three more enforcers. Mauricio pushed forward standing in front of his enforcers. No one moved. The light breeze coming from the opened window in the alcove added to the tension in the room.

Jaime walked in front of Hector placing his hands on Hector’s face, forcing him to look at him. “Please.”

Hector huffed and nodded. He placed a protective arm around Jaime pulling him closer. "I apologize for attacking your home Alpha, but I hope you understand. My mate was missing, and my wolf became agitated."

Mauricio let out a low growl. “It’s fine. How much silver would you need?”

“An ounce would be fine.” Jaime said, relieved, “I also need a knife, some gauze, alcohol, and chamomile or lavender, please.”

“I have chamomile tea would that be fine?” The Alpha’s Wife stepped from behind the protective circle the three enforcers had formed around her.

"Yes, thank you," Jaime said.

“Well? You heard him. Get the Yertlatl what he needs. Go!” Mauricio dismissed the enforcers and moved to the bed.

“Yertlatl?” Hector steadied his breathing.

“I’ll explain to you later.” Jaime moved to the bed.

Hector wanted to ask more but only nodded. Instead, he closely followed Jaime.

The enforcers bowed when they brought the items he had asked for. He mixed the tea with half of the silver and asked Mauricio to feed it to his son. Within minutes he began to convulse. Jaime was relieved he had only used half of the silver. If he has used all of it with would have been more dangerous.

"Turn him on his side," Jaime said.

Mauricio and his wife turned him on his side. Gray thick foam formed around the sick Wulf's mouth before he started to vomit lumpy and thick chunks. Good, I didn’t have to use the knife, Jaime thought. The sick Wulf began to jerk more violently the effect of the silver hitting him his damaged system.

"Hector, help them hold him down," Jaime said.

Hector rushed to the bed holding down the sick’s Wulf’s leg while the Alpha’s Wife held his torso and Alpha Mauricio held his head.

Jaime placed his hands on the sick Wulf's chest and head. He began to heal the Wulf's damaged organs, dividing his attention between the heart and lungs. Once they began to repair on their own, he focused on the rest of the damage. The sun's ray hit Jamie's eyes. Jaime's body was stiff from staying in one position for far too long. He rotated his head, moving fingers and flexing his arms. He focused once more on the young Wulf and was relieved he was healing on his own.

Alpha Mauricio and his Wife were intently watching Jaime.

"He should be fine now," Jaime said, parched.

Mauricio and his wife hugged, thank him and Lord Sola their youngest son had survived. Jaime moved away from the bed sitting down on a nearby chair. He saw Hector now had a t-shirt and sweatpants on. He was knocked out resting his head on his hand.

"Hector wake up. Let's give the Alpha family some privacy." Jaime got up walking to the foyer. Hector immediately rose following Jaime. The bedroom door had been replaced during the night, and the scraps sat in a pile on top of a rug to one side. The front doors had received the same treatment.

“Yertlatl, I would like to apologize for mine and my son’s behavior.” A gruff voice said. “If there is anything that can we can do please let me know.”

Jaime turned around. He saw the tall bearded enforcer bowing, avoiding his gaze. He could take advantage of the situation since The Wulfs were convinced he was the newest Yertlatl but decided against it. "Some food would be nice, a shower and sleep."

"Of course, Yertlatl. I’ll have the staff prepare a room and food for you and your mate. Please follow me." The older Wulf turned to leave.

“Hold on.” Jaime said, “What’s your and your son’s name?”

The older Wulf flinched. He had followed the orders of his Alpha but had misunderstood his Alpha's orders. He had been punished him by his Alpha already, but he feared the Yertlatl's punishment would be harsher. "My name is Albert Volve and my son's Lucas C. Volve."

“Okay. Show us the way please.” Jaime said.

Jaime felt good wrapped in the comforter and soft pillow. After having eaten and showered he felt better. He was too tired to deal with Hector's questions and had ordered him to shower. Hector came out of the shower, toweling his hair, nothing else on. Jaime liked what he saw, but that could wait. Hector began to pull a pillow and a blanket to the floor.

“What are you doing?” Jaime said.

“Going to sleep.” Hector continued to build a makeshift bed on the ground.

“I know, but why are you laying down on the floor. There is plenty of room on the bed.” Jaime had a suspicion as to why.

Hector was pissed. His mate had known he was a Wulf. Hector had stressed thinking Jaime was going to reject him. He had lost sleep, been irritated and had been close to challenging an Alpha who was his superior, but that didn't compare to the fact he was the Yertlatl's mate. Hector lay down in his makeshift bed ignoring Jaime's gaze. "It wouldn't be rank appropriate."

Jaime sighed. He had been partially right. He hated having to deal with Wulf hierarchy bullshit, but if it made Hector climb into bed, he would deal with it. "Get in the bed Wulf."

Hector growled ignoring Jaime’s order.

“Wulf, if you don’t climb in this bed and cuddle with me within the next second. I will reject you as my mate, even if I have to suffer.”

Hector turned to look at the young healer. His usually smiling face had a scowl and a dangerous glint in his eyes. Would he dare to reject him as his mate? Hector thought. Both of them would suffer from the separation. Once a Wulf found its mate, it was almost impossible to ignore the call to each other. However, rejection was still a possibility.

“Okay.” Jaime got up from the bed heading towards the door.

On instinct, Hector rushed to the door blocking the way. “Wait. I’ll get in bed with you. Please don’t leave.”

“Move.”

“No.”

Jaime sighed before moving to the window. The Wulfs patrolling the grounds had changed shifts. Among them was Lucas. "Are you going to listen to me?"

"Yes, Yertlatl," Hector said, submissively.

"Don't call me that. Call me by my name." Jaime turned to look at the young Alpha Wulf still blocking the door, "Please get in the bed with me. I like having your arms around, and I promise to tell you all you want to know later."

Although Hector wasn’t satisfied with the outcome of their conversation, he would please his mate. He climbed on to the bed patting the area next to him. Jaime climbed onto the bed placing his head on Hector's chest and wrapped an arm around his waist. Before long he was lightly snoring. Hector pulled him closer. He rechecked his surrounding to make sure they were safe before falling asleep.

Your storyline is way more than interesting enough that I suspect more readers will eventually pick up on this tale of yours. However, there are too many grammatical errors and misspellings sprinkled throughout that might also turn away a good number of others. It can get pretty frustrating rereading certain lines and passages just to try to comprehend what you're trying to convey.

That being said, please continue the story, and I hope you find success in getting an editor or two to help you all the way to the end. Thank you for sharing.

Your story is off to a great start! I will need to reread it to be certain I have my facts straight. I am always a little slow to acclimate to a new world. I like Hector and Jamie, and the supporting characters are interesting. I was a little confused by the grandma's names and nicknames, but I'm sure I can sort it out on the reread. I know I'm going to enjoy this story! Thanks. Jeff

I hope you comeback to this story. It so far has my interest and I don't think the errors are that distracting given the level of writing. But I would volunteer to help edit :)
