Timothy - 81. Chapter 81

The following day I told Mom and Dad what happened at the Courthouse. While eating breakfast, Rich arrived with a copy of his write-up for the paper. I took his write-up, “I’ll read this on the way home.”

We left for home, stopping at the farm for a bushel of vegetables, and we had to have a cup of coffee with Aunt Clara. While Stephen drove, I read Rich’s paper.

“Stephen, Rich said that one person was hurt sufficiently to require surgery, and there were several treated for minor cuts and bruises. He said the behavior of grown men and women was a disgrace. We wonder why children become violent when they see adults behaving as wild asses. I didn’t know wild asses acted that way. He said his article would include pictures. I’ll ask Dad to bring copies of the paper when they come up on Friday.”

Arriving home, we went directly to work. I sat in Gramps’s office as Stephan told him about our visit to my hometown.

“Tim, I didn’t realize your hometown is so violent. I know there are bigots, but I always thought that was more common in large cities, not a small city in a rural place.”

“Our city started as a small farm town, and then the automobile factory moved in along with support facilities. Our small farming town turned into a medium-size city with industries supporting the auto plant and subsidiary businesses to support the population. Merchants came, small grocery stores were replaced with supermarkets, furniture and clothing stores came along with restaurants, coffee shops, theaters, and our small schools had to expand. We are no longer a small farm-based city, and we are the third-largest city in our state.”

‘So, what is your next step?”

“Tomorrow, at lunchtime, I’m going over to the Courthouse and pick up blank subpoena forms. Then I’ll fill those out and contact an agency in California to serve the subpoena. I’ll send a copy to Judge Howard and the DA.”

“Is this for Tom?”

“No, it is for Ann Marie, and we will sue him in court here. If the DA arrests him for Tom’s complaint, the DA will probably prosecute him in Judge Howard’s court. “

“Do you know where he is living?”

“No, but I have a way of finding out.”

That evening I called Dad. “Have you read today’s paper?”

“Yes”

“Could you take it to Aunt Clara and have Randy take a photo and send it to me.”

“Just the headlines?”

“No, just Rich’s article. When you come up Friday, you can bring me copies of the paper. If there are any more comments or articles, bring them along as well.”

“Will Randy know how to send that information?”

“Yes, when we stopped the last time, I modified his system so he could send any page of the paper. I’ll call him after supper and tell him what he needs to do.”

After dinner, I completed the subpoena for Bruce Stevens. I left his address blank, and I knew who would give me the needed information. “Stephen, see if you can find a list of subpoena servers in Southern California.”

“Rather than do a large scan, which could take a few hours, let’s wait until you get his address. You’ll need that as well.”

When I woke up in the morning, I had all my information. Bruce worked at a mental health facility located in San Juan Capistrano. He lives in an apartment complex on Camino de Vista in San Juan Capistrano. I completed the subpoena. Now I needed the nearest process server to deliver the summons, A task for Stephen.

“Stephen, can you scan for a process server in San Juan Capistrano, California.”

“Does that mean you have his address? Yes., Donnie gave me the address last night. Now I need a process server to serve my subpoena to Bruce.”

It didn’t take Stephen long to provide me with three. I picked one and called them. I told them who I was, and I had a subpoena for them to serve. They had a flat fee which I thought was reasonable. “I’ll overnight the subpoena to you.” I mailed a copy of my subpoena to Judge Howard and the DA back home. Now the wait.

“Aren’t you afraid he will run as soon as he sees the subpoena?”

“He may try to run, but Donnie will track him down. Once I receive word that he has received the subpoena, I’ll speak to the judge and get it on his docket.”

“Which judge will you use?”

“I was going to see the judge that handled our case with Key Industries.”

Arriving at work, I called the Courthouse asking for Judge Raleigh. His clerk answered, and I told him I would like to have an appointment with Judge Raleigh. A meeting was agreed for the following day at 9 am.

When I got home, I put together Ann Marie’s file. I was all set for this guy, and he was going to pay.

I slept well that night. If I had known what would happen, I wouldn’t have slept that well.

So Bruce is in California(why did you have to pick the state I'm in?) Perhaps Tim should ask Gramps if he knows the right  kind of people close to Mexico because that's where Bruce might go after he's been served. If Donnie gives the right heads up perhaps they can contact law enforcement and tell them where he will be

Things are going to smoothly for Tim  in his chase of Bruce. I forsee problems ahead.

I would like to say every thing Tim has planned will go according to his plans, as in life, nothing goes as one plans. They are called hiccups

Automobile! Automobiles are to blame for this whole mess! Had they not come to town, everyone would be just happy go lucky and luv’d everyone else. Seriously, why is it society always looks for someone else to blame instead of taking accountability, looking inward, and blaming ourselves - for not speaking up when injustice occurs, for laughing at the off color joke, poking fun when we should be lending a helping hand? Timothy has his hands full at the moment but with “doing what is right” on his side, and having a guardian angel, this whole mess will hopefully resolve in the best interest of everyone and allow a tow to grow and heal the wounds that divide and should not!

I never understood why bad news travels faster then good news. I know there are people who thrive on the negative and ignore the positive. Tim will prevail.

So enough to disturb Tim's sleep, but not enough to keep him from getting some sleep. Hmm, what could this mean? (well there's an open Can of Worms if ever one existed).

Amazing the effect dropping a bunch of subpoenas can have. Particularly on a family. Talk about the other shoe dropping.  Orange Creamsicle a favorite flavor.

Yes, I could go for an orange creamsicle right now. 😀

California is as far away from where Bruce lived in the south.  I'm not sure if Bruce decides to run he would head to Mexico. I'd think he would go further south, a county without extradition treaty

And I could ask @CLJobewhy he picked the name of Bruce as the villain in this story

Cliffhangers, I don't sleep very well anyway... I know how Tim feels.

My old boss knew how I was and she would deliberately tell me we had a meeting the next morning, knowing I'd be awake all night worrying.
