A Journey to Egypt - 11. Chapter 11

A Journey to Egypt

Love is an amazing thing

It was getting late, and Alexander no longer felt the pull he had experienced earlier. As they walked around, they noticed many of the boat's passengers wandering through the ruins, which made them extremely nervous. It was time to head back to the boat, or they would miss dinner. They would be here for two more days, so there would be plenty of time to search. Dinner was perfect, with delicious wine and a great dessert. Alexander said in a tired voice, "Can we go down to the bar and have a few drinks? I think I need them."

Alexander felt overwhelmed and tired. The day's events, including the mysterious pull he felt earlier and the nervousness from seeing other passengers wandering through the ruins, had taken a toll on him. Additionally, the anticipation of their ongoing search and the need to stay alert added to his stress. He suggested going to the bar for a few drinks—to relax and unwind after a long and eventful day.

They took their second gin and tonic to the sun deck. The sky was a canvas of vibrant colors as the sun began its descent. Orange, pink, and purple hues mixed and blended seamlessly, casting a warm glow over the landscape. The golden light reflected off the water, creating a shimmering path leading directly to the horizon. Silhouettes of trees and distant mountains starkly contrasted against the radiant backdrop. The colors deepened as the sun dipped, and the sky transformed into a breathtaking masterpiece, leaving everyone in awe of nature's beauty.

"Well, I wonder what it must have been like," Reginald said, thinking about ancient times. When Omar and Kareem walked over to the railing, Reginald whispered in Alexander's ear, "I have a surprise for you, my love." Then, he kissed Alexander's ear!

Alexander was pleasantly surprised and smiled with that knowing look he often used! The smile set Reginald's heart on fire. It was just another moment that showed him how much he loved Alexander.

Omar and Kareem returned to sit in one of the deck chairs. The night air was cool, and the stars began to appear, twinkling in the darkening sky. They enjoyed their conversation and small talk, savoring the peaceful evening. Eventually, they all decided to head to their rooms to get some sleep, knowing it would be a long day tomorrow.

Before they entered their room, Omar turned to them and said, "Same knock as before if needed." They walked into the room and locked the door. Reginald removed Alexander's coat and then took off his own, placing them together. Suddenly, he slammed Alexander against the door and kissed his neck, knowing all the places that turned him on and went for it.

Kissing and licking as Reginald removed Alexander's shirt and teased his nipples.

In their room, Omar smiled at Kareem and laughed, "Seems they are having fun! I am sure that will relieve Alexander's nervousness," Little did Kareem know that Omar was bisexual, and if the opportunity arose, Omar would gladly have sex with them. Reginald and Alexander were so tasty and beautiful. Omar was sure they would all enjoy exploring each other's bodies, and he smiled. He said a silent prayer to the gods that this could happen!

They went down to breakfast in the dining room. They were served a typical Egyptian breakfast, which included a variety of delicious dishes such as ful medames (stewed fava beans), ta'ameya (Egyptian falafel), Baladi bread (a type of flatbread), labneh (strained yogurt), and a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables.

As they gathered in the cozy seating area of their room, Reginald, Alexander, Omar, and Kareem could not help but reminisce about the excellent breakfast they had enjoyed that morning.

"The Baladi bread was absolutely divine," Alexander began, his eyes lighting up with delight. "The croissants were flaky and buttery, and the fresh fruit was perfect."

Omar nodded in agreement, a smile spreading across his face. “And the coffee! It was rich and aromatic, just what we needed to start the day. I could have had a second cup, but I did not want to be too jittery for our mission.”

Kareem, usually the more reserved of the group, could not help but join in. “The ta’ameya were cooked to perfection. I do not think I have ever had one so fluffy and flavorful. It was a wonderful way to fuel up for the day ahead.”

Reginald chuckled, adding his own thoughts. "I have to say, the variety was impressive. There was something for everyone, from the fresh juices to the assortment of cheeses and cold cuts. It was a breakfast fit for a king."

As they continued to share their favorite moments from the meal, the atmosphere in the room lightened. The camaraderie and shared enjoyment of simple pleasures helped to strengthen their bond, reminding them that even amid their journey, there were moments of joy and connection to be cherished.

The rich flavor and aroma of the coffee filled the room, making for a delightful start to their day.
While drinking their coffee, they decided what they wanted to see: The Hypostyle Hall, the Temple of Khonsu, and finally, the Ramesseum.

They set off to the Hypostyle Hall first. It was not a short walk, and they were sweating by the time they got there. The 134 papyrus columns represented the primeval papyrus swamp from which Atum, a self-created deity, arose from the waters of Nun at the beginning of creation. The outer walls depicted battle scenes, with Seti I on the north and Ramesses II on the south. They spent hours viewing all the walls for scenes of the Pharaoh. They were in awe of the sheer scale and beauty of the Hypostyle Hall. The towering columns and intricate carvings are a testament to ancient Egyptian craftsmanship, and they were elated to experience this iconic site firsthand.

Their next stop was the Temple of Khonsu. Reginald explained, "Khonsu was the son of Amun and Mut, with whom he formed the Theban triad. He was a moon god depicted as a man with a falcon head wearing a crescent moon headdress surmounted by the full lunar disc. Khonsu was believed to have the ability to drive out evil spirits. Rameses II sent a statue of Khonsu to a friendly Syrian king to cure his daughter of an illness."

At this point, Alexander had that faraway look that he had before. He walked to the crack in the wall, reached in, and removed a small statue of a falcon-head man! Alexander handed the statue to Reginald and said, "You must carry this!" As Reginald took the statue he heard a commanding voice he recognized from his childhood, Khonsu. "Reginald you will need to keep my statue. It is the one that was send by Rameses II to heal the Syrian King’s daughter. It will be very important in days to come."

They noticed their Ra rings were glowing a soft golden color. And with that Alexander almost fell but Omar’s fast action saved him from doing so! Reginald wondered why Ra’s rings were glowing again. He decided he would talk to Omar and Kareem about it later.

They found a place in the shade where they could sit. Omar handed the canteen of water to Alexander and helped him to lift the canteen to his lips so he could drink. Omar was so kind and gentle, and Reginald was so grateful to Omar for helping Alexander. Once Alexander felt better, they set off for the Ramesseum.

Reginald explained, "The Ramesseum is a funerary temple located on the west bank of the Nile River at Thebes in Upper Egypt. Built by Pharaoh Ramesses II, it is dedicated to the god Amon and the deceased king. The temple is famous for its 57-foot seated statue of Ramesses II.

Constructed over 3,000 years ago, it remains one of ancient Egypt's most impressive and important religious centers. The Ramesseum serves as a memorial temple, honoring the legacy of Ramesses II and displaying the grandeur of ancient Egyptian architecture and art. I read a lot of books about Luxor!" He smiles, enjoying sharing the knowledge he has learned about Luxor.

They started back to the boat and just returned in time to clean up for dinner. Alexander told Reginald, "I just love how nice Omar is. He is so kind and helpful." Reginald had to agree.

Reginald smiled, "We would be lost without him. And he is right there when we need him most. You must love that!" Alexander agreed.

There was a knock on the door, and Alexander opened the door to Omar. Omar said, "Kareem was not feeling well. I was wondering if I could join you two for dinner. " He smiled at them.

Reginald and Alexander looked at each other and smiled! They both said, "Yes, we would love that!" Omar had guessed that would be the case, or so he hoped.

Dinner on the boat was a delightful experience. The dining room was elegantly set, with soft lighting and a gentle breeze coming in from the open windows, carrying the fresh scent of the Nile. The meal began with appetizers, including stuffed grape leaves, hummus, and warm pita bread. The main course featured a succulent lamb tagine with apricots and almonds, served alongside saffron rice and roasted vegetables. The flavors were rich and aromatic, perfectly complemented by a glass of full-bodied red wine. Omar had tea.

For dessert, they enjoyed a decadent baklava, with layers of flaky pastry filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with honey. The combination of textures and flavors made for a satisfying end to the meal.

The conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and shared stories, as they savored each bite and the serene ambiance of the evening on the Nile.

When they were done with dinner, they went down to the bar and took a seat by an open window. A gentle breeze came through the window. The bartender came to the table smiling and asked what they would like to drink. They ordered the gin and tonic over ice with a slice of lime. Omar would have fruit juice.

As the bartender left, Omar shyly smiled at them both. He was feeling a bit timid. Omar wanted to speak his mind but proceeded with care. "First, I just want you to know how much you have come to mean to me. I have strong feelings for you two, and I hope you know this. And I would do anything for you two."

Reginald and Alexander exchanged a glance, their expressions softening with warmth and appreciation.

Reginald was the first to speak, his voice gentle. "Omar, your words mean a lot to us. We feel the same way about you. Your kindness and support have been invaluable."

Alexander nodded in agreement, adding, “We could not have asked for a better friend and protector. Thank you for everything you do for us.”

Omar's shy smile grew wider, and he felt relief and happiness knowing that his feelings were reciprocated.

The bond between the three men grew stronger as they continued to enjoy their evening together.

Omar looked at Reginald and Alexander with a thoughtful expression. He felt compelled to explain why he felt a bond with the two men. "You know," his voice was gentle yet firm. "I see a lot of myself in both of you. When I was younger, I had the same curiosity and drive to uncover the mysteries of the past. I understand and feel the same passion that fuels your journey."

He paused, his eyes reflecting a mix of nostalgia and admiration. “Like you, I was drawn to the ancient ruins and artifacts, always seeking answers to the questions that haunted my mind. and encountered people who tried to deter me, just as you have. But my love for history and the thrill of discovery kept me going." I faced dangers and encountered people who tried to deter me, just as you have. But my love for history and the thrill of discovery kept me going."

Omar's gaze softened as he continued, "I feel a deep connection to you both, not just as your guide but as someone who shares your spirit. I want to protect you and help you navigate the challenges you face because I know how important this journey is. And in many ways, being with you reminds me of my own adventures, of the person I was and still am."

Omar smiled warmly, a sense of camaraderie and understanding evident in his expression. "We are kindred spirits, bound by our love for the past, our quest for knowledge, and a love for each other." His words conveyed a deep connection and affection, highlighting the bond they had formed through their shared experiences and mutual respect. "Perhaps we can be more for each other, lovers. Which would be wonderful, for I would love to pleasure you both."

Yet again, we are being kept in the dark about what is actually going on about their visit and mission. No discussions about the small statue, the glowing Ra protection rings, and the voices directing their actions on this mission of discovery. Omar is reveling his intentions while Kareem remains a bit of an unknown force. 🤔 What is truly taking place here?

What could be setting it off, do you think, I wonder what that could be? I will say this go back and read chapter 9:D
