Two enemies wake in the ashes of Jerusalem—one a deserter drowning in guilt, the other an amnesiac who remembers only how to kill. Hunted across the desert by a vengeful lord, they must disguise themselves as a Crusader knight and his squire to survive. But in the war-torn port of Jaffa, masks slip. Secrets surface. And a feral German street rat with a talent for trouble forces them to confront an impossible question: in a holy war that devours everything, can two broken boys build a family from the ruins?

This book is the fourth in this series based on the crusades. An ordinary Spanish foot soldier named Seb who is horrified by the carnage after the fall of Jerusalem flees the city along with an amnesiac Saracen Erik. Along the way out of the city and across the barren desert heading toward the coast the two young men learn about each other and defend a group of nomads while killing a crusader lord. Seb assumes the title and he and Erik continue to the coast and build a family of misfits along the way. There are plenty of plot twists, political intrigue, and the ever present danger of being discovered. A very well written saga by an extremely talented writer. You will absolutely enjoy this book. 👏❤️😃

"Lost in the Sand" is the fourth book in an epic saga set during the First Crusades. It works both as a sequel and as a standalone spin-off, focusing on Prince Ishan's destiny after the fall of Jerusalem. As a group of lovable misfits' journeys toward freedom, they encounter danger, adventure, and unexpected friendships. At the heart of the story are an ordinary Spanish soldier - Seb, mistaken for the Lord of Ibelin and his lover, Prince Ishan, an amnesiac struggling to rediscover his past.

For fans of The Silver Boar Saga, this novel offers a touching epilogue to Erik/Ishan's extraordinary life - as a prince, mage, amnesiac, and even an unforgettable goat husband. A warm, adventurous, and rewarding addition to the series.
