The Mantis Synchronicity - Book Five - 20. Chapter 20 - Home

Djaruki, Tygo, and Filiou are given a place to stay for the night.

“You’re sure you don’t mind us coming with you?” Djaruki asked.

The two older ladies who she, Tygo, and Filiou had met at Weirdo Beard-O’s offered the three travelers a place to stay at their house for the night. They spent the entire day at the café, and the sun was setting over the mountains to the west as Thoozu and Rhina led them up a pathway to a little cottage.

“Of course we don’t mind,” Thoozu reassured them. “You three are welcome with us. We’ll let you stay in our son’s old room. Some of his childhood toys are still in there.”

“Djaruki, do you want to stay in his room with the girls as well,” Rhina asked, “or would you rather stay in our guest room? We don’t mind where you’d like to sleep. Since you three have been together for so long, you can stay together if that’s more comfortable for you.”

Tygo scrunched up her little face. “Has it been that long? Because I was using my powers, and it kind of feels like time isn’t passing when I use them.”

It was a very confusing statement.

“Yeah,” Djaruki replied to Rhina, “I think I’d like to stay in the room with them. Is that okay?”

“Of course it is,” Rhina said with a laugh. “I just suggested it; why would it suddenly not be okay?” She laughed again. “We’ll drag a spare cot in there. It’s not quite as comfortable as a regular bed, but you said you’ve been camping for over a month, and the cot’ll feel better than the ground has felt.”

The evening was like a whirlwind to Djaruki, and when she was eventually lying on the cot in the dark with the two girls tucked in bed together, Djaruki was unconscious in minutes. She had not realized that Tygo was still awake.

Tygo’s mind was racing

What is Tygo thinking about?
