A young man ventures into the human world after being raised by elves. His companion is a young jinni with little power and a blocked memory. Together and with contacts they make, the protagonist must figures out how to make a life without attracting the unwanted attention that you know will find them. A story about love, magic, and sacrifice.
This is a prequel to another, MUCH longer story that I'm writing and it has an elaborate though expanding and slightly changing framework backing it. I admit that the TV show "Charmed" inspired some of this, though I am trying very hard to not make it seem at all like "Charmed" fan-fiction (probably not very obvious in this short story prequel, so I'm not too worried there). This is my first story I've written that I've "put out there" and I would really appreciate constructive feedback that I swear I will try not to take personally. Also, there is a romantic relationship between two guys ... but I suck at writing sex and don't really enjoy reading it, so while <1% of this thing could actually be considered erotica, it is in there.
