2014 - Fall - Scars Entry

The Crow's Fist - 2. I Was Once Strong

I Was Once Strong

Now a cruel shove
Brings me to see
All that I love
Kneel before me

Cutting like a knife
My son screams
My bloody wife
Into my dreams

Why does she bow?
She is no whore
I beg you now
Please do no more

For all I hear
I cannot sleep
Broken in fear
I can only weep

I was once strong
No longer so
Where did I wrong?
To bend so low

Nothing is left
They took it all
I am bereft
Not but to crawl

There is no light
The final blow
The end in sight
Now I shall go

So smooth, yet so real. The emotion is alive and dripping off the words and I could almost see a man kneeling weeping as he pondered.

That is a stunning poem.

So before the end everything he loves was brought low. You go for the juggler and then don't let go Cele. Painful to imagine such a thing.

Have you been hanging around Wes Craven? What images. When you lose everything you love, what is left? Very moving.
