The Church and the Tradesman

There are currently no reviews.
Sub-genres: Comedy Modern, Drama

Plumber’s apprentice Andrew Richardson finds himself in an unlikely battle of wits with a pretentious American pop star visiting London for the Brit Awards. The singer is unhappy because there’s no heating, but the boiler needs replacing and on Sundays, Andy goes to church.

This story is set in London in 1998 and all of the characters are fictional, but ‘The Church’ was real.

'Trade' was the iconic and now legendary gay nightclub in Central London. It opened only one day a week from 4AM to 1PM on Sunday mornings playing hardcore dance music. Although it shunned publicity, a series of scandals involving high profile public figures and celebrities attracted the attention of the media and a reputation for sleaze and drugs inevitably led to its closure. Known among the faithful as 'The Church', at its peak, 'Trade' was one of the most famous gay nightclubs in the world.
