Meridion - 1. Jericó
I remember the taste of cheap vodka and beer in his breath,
and the way his lips felt against mine when they first collided,
wet, warm, sloppy. Disgustingly so. Endearingly so.
I remember the way his teeth hit mine in a drunken stupor,
(he had braces)
and how his tongue invaded my mouth without warning, like a wave crashing into the shore.
I remember the way people looked at us,
estranged, amused, confused;
some cheered as he held my hip in place with his hand,
most said nothing, but I couldn't care less at the time.
None of them knew he was my first.
Neither did he.
I remember how it felt like it had lasted an hour,
and just the fraction of a second at the same time,
because at that moment quantum physics suddenly seemed to make perfect sense.
I remember how he boldly, loudly proclaimed he was straight,
right after his tongue left my gaping mouth,
and how in my drunken state I comically remarked that I wasn't.
That earned some laughs, but my hands were still shaking and my heart still felt like a time bomb.
I remember the three cigarettes I smoked in the bathroom later that night,
desperately trying to make sense of what had just happened.
It had been a dare. I'd known that.
I remember how one of the older guys took me to the side after it'd happened,
to ask me if I was okay.
I remember how I assured him I was.
I remember how I hesitated to say that.
We were fifteen.
