Professional Courtesy

   (1 review)
Sub-genres: Drama, General Romance

NOVEL. A young restaurant manager's personal life is in a real slump until he meets a manager from a nearby restaurant. Complications occur when someone from his past reappears after several year's absence.

This novel originally appeared as Professional Courtesy five years ago - 2006. I’ve always liked the story and decided to take advantage of our Internet world; offer it in a style that’s more compatible with my current writing style and update the ever-changing contemporary setting. Remember, Facebook had just recently been founded (2004) and Twitter (2006) was still an idea. Text messaging in 2005 had still not gained the popularity of communicating that it  commands today. And consider what was going on in Steve Jobs’ mind – iPod (2001), iTunes (2001), iPhone (2007), iPad (2010).

Sadly, Jack's gone. Thankfully, his stories remain.

Professional Courtesy's not perfect but it's an endearing story. I believe were the author still alive, he might have revised it again to maintain relevant contemporary references. It is nonetheless an enjoyable read.

I admit Jack's style and subject matter influences my writing, hell I borrowed one of his characters for a story. An openly gay father may have been somewhat uncommon when this was published, but today they're found everywhere. The progress made in the past 10 years may have been hard to foresee, but Professional Courtesy treated the matter with respect and joy.

The Flynns will charm you. And for those of you into hot sex scenes, Brian and Eric might be what you're looking for.
