Crave

   (4 reviews)

Crave: Feel a powerful desire for (something).

Some cravings you just can't fight.

Merrick Weir has known Jenson Shey since he was a child travelling with his father on diplomatic missions to other worlds.  Over the years his affection for Jenson has changed from hero worship for the quiet Envoy to darker and more adult desires, desires that he has every intention to fulfill.  Now if only he could get Jenson to stop disappearing every time he tries to approach him.
Jenson Shey is haunted by memories from his past.  His work and a beautiful boy with expressive eyes have been the only things to ever keep his memories at bay.  The little boy has now grown into an impressive man and Jenson is disturbed by the fantasies that invade his thoughts. His only choice is to be strong and do his duty.

Litlover has a unique take on vampires and this story shows how good her imagination is.

My favorite part of this story was the characters. Litlover is very good at letting you get to know the characters slowly and in a way that has them feeling like your best friend. When they get hurt, you hurt. When they're happy, you're happy. You go through all their ups and downs with them. Jenson has a lot to get over and the reader take the journey with him and Merrick right through to their HEA.

I hope there will be a sequel some point in the future, as I'd love to hear more about these characters and their life together.

A highly recommended read. 5*s

This is the story where I learned just how creative and wonderful LitLover's mind is. Her writing skills are boundless, and she honed a lot of them with this story. I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll just say her take on vampires is refreshing, and the characters, human or otherwise, are always relatable. She creates a new world here, and she does it beautifully. The story flows, and there is plenty of action, angst and drama to offset all the good stuff. I guess what I'm trying to say is she achieves balance with this wonderful creation, and I can't imagine any reader not being enthralled from start to finish. Read this!  For your own sake.

An excellent adventure / romance.  I love Scy Fi, but don't like vampire stories. I actually passed this one over a couple of times because of the vampire theme. I am really glad I gave it a chance. The settings  sparked the imagination enough without dragging on forever in detail as some Scy Fi does. It balanced new planets and species well with the political as well as individual intrigue and romantic tension.

I will be reading more from this author.

I can't compare Crave to other Litlover stories since it's the first one I've read, but I'm going to rectify that now. Crave is very easy to read and even though it's a sci-fi story, it doesn't overwhelm the readers with info dumps.

As -somewhat of- a vampire novel, it's fresh. Litlover didn't follow the "sun-fearing, demonic, gothic" mould and instead went with their own version. As I like anything that has to do with vampires and tend to read a lot, I favour the ones (like this one) with originality.

The characters are very relatable and I for one didn't see the plot twist coming. All in all, a lovely story I definitely recommend!
