A sad story about to end due to the death of one partner.  Even though this story deals with a host and a symbiont, like the race of Trills from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, it is similar what happens to some couples that have been married for many years.  It's not uncommon that as soon as one of the partners dies, the other will give up and die a short time later, since they no longer wish to live without their long-time spouse.  It's a sad story, but also one of True love, and this story portrays it is a loving and delicate manner.
