Broken Trust - 1. Chapter 1
It was a long night, Jake stood there at the intersection of 11th and Bromley. It was normally this time at night that made Jake comfortable with his psyche. Wandering he didn’t know if he should tell Jesse, his best friend, what his secret was.
A secret full of pain yet detrimental to Jake’s personal character
It was because of what had happened that made Jake roam the streets of Marshalltown from his uncle’s house on May Street. He would normally roam from that side to Woodland Avenue near Riverview Park. It was cold that evening, wearing his red jacket to better conquer some of the frost. He came here to release his anger and depression, yet all he could do was fixate on the same nightmares he continued to have after it had happened.
His best friend Jesse lived not far from the park on Lee Street. There were many apartment buildings lining the entirety of Lee Street. Most of the tenements were being torn down and replaced with new innovative and attractively appealing models. But most of which were old store buildings being renovated to house the twenty needy families and new residents of Marshalltown.
Reaching the door and noticing that Jesse’s fichus was on its last rights before going into the big forest in the sky, Jake knocked the brass knocker. Hearing the rustle of commotion, Jake waited until Jesse’s peaceful green eyes fiery with happiness to see him met his own.
Jesse exclaimed,” Hey, how are you?”
Jake just met those soft green eyes and broke down. Fearful, not knowing what was wrong, Jesse grabbed Jake by his hand and embraced him similar to that of the Heimlich, he looked at Jake and asked,” What’s wrong?”
Jake looked up to him and said,” I didn’t know where I could go?” Jesse, with a great sigh told Jake, “You can trust me.”
“Can we sit down?” Jake asked
