The Tide Began to Rise - Repost - 19. Chapter 19

<Brent’s POV>

My mom woke me up at about 9:30 in the morning. Today was the day we invited out friends over just to hangout. She told me that the house needed to be cleaned up before everyone gets here. I asked why the normal cleaner wasn’t here. She said that this was our party, and if we wanted to have it, we would have to clean for it.

“You go ahead and get started, and I will go and wake Tyler for you. Witch do you want to do? Do you want the main level, or do you want to clean the basement? There’s no need to clean the upstairs.” My mom said.

“I will do that main level.”

“Ok, make sure everything is dusted and vacuum if it needs it. Please don’t say you don’t think it needs it when it really does need it.

“OK fine.” I went down stairs and got a towel and the dusting stuff. Our cleaning lady does a great job. There were only a few spots that I had to wipe off. When I got to the vacuuming part, there was honestly nowhere that needed it. I even went and got mom and had her check to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. She didn’t find anything. I put the dusting stuff away and I took the vacuum down to Tyler.

When I got into the basement, I found Tyler sitting on the couch.

“Well……….Well…………….Well, what do we have here? Tyler is being lazy. Are you done cleaning?”

“Noooooo, I was waiting for you to get your sexy ass down here. I wanted to see it while I clean.”

I turned around and shook my butt at him. As I did, he howled like a wolf. We both laughed. Tyler got off the couch and got the vacuum from me. He plugged it in and did a quick sweep thought the basement. It really didn’t need it, but there was some stuff on the floor.

As he was finishing, mom came down to check how it looked, we were going to be spending most of our time down here. I really wasn’t sure why it needed to be so clean, we were just going to mess it up again. I guess I never really see the point in cleaning the same thing twice. Either way we did as we were told. I really didn’t fell like listening to my mom “explain” why I needed to do it this way.

We got done with all the cleaning and all the other chores that mom wanted us to do around noon. We went to the kitchen to get something to eat for lunch. We didn’t want something to big. We went with a ham and cheese sandwich.

James and Jennifer showed up at 1:30. I thought I said 4:30 to 5 but I guess I was wrong. Since they were here, I thought I would put them to work. Since we are going to stay in the basement, I asked them to help me take extra pillows and blankets and a few air bed down stairs. I showed Jennifer where they were. Tyler helped her get everything, while James and I went and moved the couches and stuff to make room.

“Ok, so let’s push the couches back. Not so far back, someone might still want to sit on them. We can leave the coffee table there…..Well, maybe push it off the side. We can put our food on it.” I said.

We pushed the smaller of the two couches back farther than the other. We both figured that a couple of us might want to lay on the bed’s Jennifer and Tyler got down here and started to blow the beds up. We had three beds. Each one had a motor in it to make the inflating go faster.

Once the beds were inflated, we laid them down in front of the TV. We put sheets, pillows and blankets on them. I knew that James and Jennifer are going to end up on one of them, cuddling and kissing. I want to be on one with Tyler. The only problem is that I’m not sure if my mom is going to come down to check on us. I was hoping that she would go out with the boyfriend that she doesn’t have. She keeps telling me that she goes out with friends, but when she goes out she is all dressed up. Ok, I’m sorry but you don’t get all dressed up and fancy to go out with friends.

Once we had the basement set up, we went upstairs to wait for the others. My mom came into the family room and sat down next to me on the couch.

“Do you guys have the downstairs all set up?”

“Yes maim.” James said.

“That’s good, and you don’t need to call me maim. Call me Julie. Well, I’m sure you don’t want an old lady hanging around tonight. So, I’m going out with some friends…….. Yes Brent, I’m going out with friends, not the mystery guy.”

“AH-HA, so you admit there is a mystery guy. I knew I was right.”

“You’re nuts boy. Ok I’m going to go upstairs and get ready……..Oh yeah, if anything “Happens” she made quotes with her fingers; “tonight, be safe while doing it.” She looked right at James and Jennifer. Then she left the room.

Mom was upstairs for about 45 minutes. When she came down, she came into the room to say bye. I looked at her and …….. Wow. She looked amazing. She was wearing a red dress that stopped just above her knees. She curled her hair. She had black pantyhose on and black high heels. I could smell the perfume she was wearing. It was one that I hadn’t smelled in a long time.

“Mom you look great. Are you wearing what I think you’re wearing?”

“Yeah”

“You haven’t……….”

“I know”

“So I was right?”

“Yeah come here for a minute, I need to talk to you.”

Both my mom and I went in the kitchen.

“I didn’t want you to tell you I was dating because I didn’t know how you would react. The last couple you hated. You had me to yourself for so long, I thought you might get mad.”

“I was a little kid with those other guys. I wanted my dad. Now I want you happy. I’ve known for a while mom……..you look great, smell wonderful. Go out and have a great time.”

We hugged each other and she went out the door to her car. I went back to the family room. I sat back down on the couch next to Tyler. Only now I was sitting closer to him, with my arm around him.

Not long after I sat down, I got a text:

~mom,
I just passed some of your friends. They r heading to the house.~

~kk, thnx~

“Hey, the others are on the way.” I said.

“Finally” James said.

“I know right.” Tyler said.

We went back to watching TV. A couple minutes later there was a knock on the door. I yelled “Come in.” I heard the door open and close. I said that we were in the living room. I didn’t bother to look to see who it was.

“Oh my God Brent, what are you doing?”

I looked at the door and my jaw dropped.

“Chad, Kurt, Rob, what are you guys doing here?”

“We thought we would drop by and hangout. Why is your arm around him?” Kurt asked.

I looked at Tyler, then back at them. “I guess I need to tell them,” I thought.

“I’m not going to lie to you guys. Tyler and I are Together. I’m gay. I won’t hate you guys if you don’t want to hang out with me anymore. If you don’t, can you please not tell anyone?”

“Dude, why didn’t you tell us?” Chad asked

“Yeah, you should have told us that you had a boyfriend.” Rod said

“Wait, you guys don’t care?”

“Yeah we care, but it’s not something that will make us hate you. I for one am happy for you. Why didn’t you want to tell us?” Kurt asked.

“Well I thought that you would hate me, and not want to be friends anymore. Can you guys keep this on the down low until we are ready to tell others?”

“I think we can handle that.” Kurt said. “Hey since everyone else here is a couple, do you mind if our girlfriends come and hangout to?”

“I don’t know dude. We really don’t want a lot of people knowing. The more people that know, the higher the chance someone will let it out. No offense and I don’t want to make you mad, but maybe we can do something tomorrow. Would that be ok with you?”

“I understand. Maybe we should go. I’ll call you tomorrow and see what we want to do.” Chad said.
“OK, sounds good. Talk to you guys tomorrow.”

Chad, Kurt, and Rob said bye to everyone then left. We went back to watching TV and waiting for Brie and Brad.

<Brad’s POV>

I was driving over to Tyler’s house when I got a text from Brie.

~can you come pick me up?~

~y?~I replied.

~My car Won’t start.~

~Sure, I will be at ur house in a bit.~

I turned my car around and Drove to Brie’s house. She lived over by the park. I pulled up into her driveway about 5 minutes after our text conversation. She was waiting for me on the steps leading up to her house. As my car stopped, she got in.

“Hey, how are you sweet thing?” Brie asked.

“I’m doing well. How are you?”

“I’m good. I’m pretty bummed that my car won’t start. I have no clue why, but I don’t know much of anything about cars.”

“I can’t help you with that either. I just take my car into the shop in when something goes wrong……Do you need to pick anything before we go to Tyler’s and Brent’s?”

“No I don’t think so.”

“Ok then.”

We headed out. It took about 10 minutes to get there, with the traffic and the lights. I pulled into the drive way as a car with 3 guys was leaving. I recognized them as people from school. I wondered what they were doing here. Maybe Tyler and Brent invited more people then they said they were going to. I hope they didn’t. Today is the day that I want to express how I really feel. I don’t think that I could do that with other guys here. These guys are my friends, the other ones aren’t.

We got out of the car and went up to the door. Brie knocked. I heard Brent yell come in. Brie opened the door and we went inside. We removed our shoes and went into the family room.

“Wow Brent, this is the first time that I have been inside your house. It is really nice.” I said.

“Meh, my mom picked all of this stuff. I don’t care for it to much. But I will let her know that you love it. Hehe. How are you two doing?”

“Doing ok. My car is not working. Brad gave me a ride.”

“Do you know what’s wrong with it?” I asked.

“No and my dad is too busy to work on it. I’m not sure what I’m going to do.”

“Well, you could call a tow truck and have it taken to a shop. Then they can figure out what is wrong with it.” Brent said.

“I would but I can’t afford that. I will just wait until my dad can look at it.”

“No you won’t, I will take care of it. It is going to be getting cold soon, and you don’t need to be walking around town. I will call a tow truck in the morning.” Brent said.

“You don’t have to do that.”

“Yes he does, Brent is too nice of a person.” Tyler said.

We all laughed. Brent said that since we were all here, we could all move to the kitchen to start getting the food ready. As the food got done, we took it down to the basement and put it on the coffee table. The pizza took the longest to get ready. We took it down stairs with plates and napkins. We had soda in the basement as we. It was in a cooler that Brent had put on one side of the couch.

Once we were all settled in and ready to watch the movies. I decided to speak up.

“Hey guys, there is something that I need to tell you…”
“Oh god, not you to.” James said.
“What?” I said with a questioning look on my face.

“What are you going to say?” Brent asked.

“Well, I want to tell you guys that I’m gay. I have wanted to tell you for a while now, but haven’t been brave enough. My mom caught me the other day; jerking it and moaning a hot guy’s name. So came into my room after hearing me, and I told her I was gay. She seems ok with it. So I thought that I should tell you, and hoped to god that you all would be cool with it.”

“You’re a little late to the party dude.” James said.

“What are you talking about?” I asked

“Brent and Tyler beat you to the punch. They both came out to us a while ago. Brent not to long ago, but Tyler did about 9 weeks ago. They day we helped him move out of his house.”

“You’re gay Tyler? I don’t believe it.”

“Believe it, Brent and I are dating, have been for a while. We were actually going to tell you to ni…ght…..” Tyler trailed off. He must have seen the hurt look on my face. “Brad am I the one you were thinking about the other day. I have noticed that you act like some who has a crush when I’m around you.”

“It doesn’t matter now does it, you’re dating Brent. I guess I will have to find someone else.” Tears started to fill my eyes. I didn’t want to be here anymore. I stood up and went upstairs. I grabbed my shoes and left. I drove home. My mom was the one person that I need to talk to. Brent, Brie, Tyler, and James were calling me, and texting me. I just shut off my phone when they didn’t get the hint that I didn’t want to talk to them.

“How could let my true feelings come out? What am I going to do now?”
