I think Control and Kaos is one of my favourite stories, it has everything: romance, humour, hotness, lol. I think it's also in the highschool section, I didn't even know it was in the Authoritarian part, I don't think it deserves to be there. I think I've read this story tons of times, hehe, it never gets old.

Yup, I just checked: http://www.nifty.org/nifty/gay/highschool/control-and-kaos/ :D:2thumbs:

It's also posted at Awesomedude's Place under David Buffet's page.

The format (and neighbors) are a little nicer than Shifty.

Yes, I also think that's one of the finer stories I've ever read. I like that the point of view is completely unique and the characters are always interesting, always unfolding new bits to them.

Also the band setting is cool, too.

Totally one of my all-time favorite stories. David Buffett has a story in the Authoritarian section, called "Alpha Male," which is definitely worth a read. I don't like Authoritarian stories, but this one is, first of all, by David Buffett, so it totally deserves to be read, and second, it's more about relationship and power dynamics between men (and women.) It's not the jewel that "Control and KAOS" is, but it's interesting, and suprisingly thought-provoking. He's also got another story buried in the high school section called "Modern History," an allegorical retelling of the Stonewall riots. It's nicely done, but I consider "Control and KAOS" his crowning achievement. It IS funny, and an absolute joy to read, but in a way, he kind of explores the same power dynamics he delves into in "Alpha Male." I really think that if you're going to read "Control," you should read "Alpha Male" first. It sort of gives you a reference point, even though the stories don't have any of the same characters and the setting is completely different. And if anyone knows David Buffett personally, could you please ask him to write more stories? Not that I'm not enjoying some of the stuff I'm finding here, but David always brings the quality.

I read it, I loved it. :2thumbs: I liked the Topher/Theo parts a little more, but Seth/EJ were great for comedy. You should hang in there Boa, things get interesting after the characters finally run into each other.

Dom, great job on DD, btw. :worship: I look forward to 16. (Impatiently, that is.) :P

I agree with Ann, Dom, Chapter 15 of DD was awesome! I really like where things seem to be going with Luke and Rory's friendship, and it's good to see Jase and Rory interacting a little. I can't wait for chapter 16 either! (well ok I guess I'll have to).

I suppose I'll read Control and Kaos myself then, since everyone (except Bao, who hasn't gotten that far in it yet) seems to recommend it so highly. The only trouble is I purposely take a long time to read things for pleasure, and usually re read my favorite sections several times before moving on. Also if the whole thing is there I have trouble resisting reading it all. So translated: I'd be up all night reading it, and STILL not done by the time I HAD to leave for work. So I guess I'll wait a bit on it.

Also I don't know if anyone's checked it out, but I strongly recommend the story "Cross Currents" in the relationship section of nifty (I don't have the link off hand but it should be near the top of that section). It's really great, when I found it, it was only up to chapter 15, which I considered to be the best chapter, and was totally satisfied with as an "ending". As such I haven't read 16 and 17 of it yet, but will probably break down and risk ruinning my "perfect ending" eventually lol

I started Cross Currents a while ago. I liked it, too. I was around Ch. 10 the last time I checked. I

You should try writing to him. I dropped him a line to tell him I liked his story and he got back pretty fast. Seems like a nice guy, too.

yes "Alpha Male" was a good read also and "Control and KAOS" is definitely worth the time taken to read. I guess i never realized they were from the same author though 0:)

Hey Dom not only do you entertain, stimulate and educate with your own brilliant stories, but now you're signposting us to some other greats!!

Just loved Control and Kaos - amazing characters, lifelike, entertaining, and very very horny.

I think I want to BE Theo!
