Quote

For those of us around on December 31, 1999 at 11:59 pm, we were able to ring in the new millennium as the calendar flipped over to 2000 and the world was not destroyed by Y2K.

I loved the TV series.

"Open the pod bay doors please, HAL."

"I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

I never watched the TV series Millenium, so don't know if the quote you reference was also in that, but I remember it from the 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey...

Anyway, at the risk of sounding a bit like a homophone, I'll just drop this here:

I saw it when it came out. I'm a big Kubrick fan too.

So did I. In Cinerama format at a cinema in Manchester. We were sat in the centre on the front row, so the curved screen basically wrapped around us. It felt as though we were actually in the film. In the opening sequence, when the apes were leaping from side to side, I found myself actually ducking, as they appeared to be jumping over my head. And in the final, starfield scene, I really felt as though I was being sucked into the screen as the stars were rushing past me. One of the trippiest experiences I have ever experienced at the cinema.

I have a copy on an external hard drive. But watching it on a small screen just isn't the same.
