In Ancient Greek, dithyrambo was a poem honoring  Dionysis, the god of wine and fertility.

If you're looking for examples of a dithyramb, try Friedrich Nietzsche's Dithyrambs of Dionysus or Gabriele d'Annunzio's Alcyone
