Agnosia and agnostic derive from the same Greek word for lack of knowledge, ignorance.

Agnosia can result from damage caused by strokes, traumatic brain injuries, or dementia.  It's truly a sad and difficult time when you're dealing with someone suffering from this condition, since it can also include the inability to recognize loved ones.

My 96-year-old mom often doesn’t recognize common foods like pot roast. However, if I can get her to try it, she gets over her agnosia quickly.

As far back as I can remember, my mom was the matriarch of our family. My dad was a big man, but knew better than to argue with her. In the end only she and I were left. Years before she passed, often forgetting how to make many of her recipes, things I took for granted all of my life. So I guess I had an inkling of the things to come. The last two years really hit home for me. Mom was the one to go to for names, places, dates and stories about any and all in the family and friends, where ever in the world they were. So its was a shock, when in 2017 for the first in my life, nobody remembered my birthday. 7+billion people in the world and no longer even the one I could always depend on was there to celebrate with me. We celebrated the birthdays and lit a candle for the passings of my dad and sister, but I never mentioned my BD to her again.

I miss you mom,💔

until we all meet again.
