Harvey was dismayed when told his famous fart defense would be ineffective in an abbattoir. He briefly considered a course in taekwando, but had to reject it because he couldn't raise his legs high enough.

World War I was a shocking abattoir because it is often regarded as the first modern war in which all sides employed chemical weapons, machine guns, massed artillery, submarines and aircraft. A century after the First World War, many parts of Europe still bear its scars.

There are parts of France still so contaminated by chemical weapons, they are Zone Rouge. France's Red Zones

Abbattoir is too refined to deliver the same impact as slaughthouse. Can you imagine if Kurt Vonnegut had titled his book Abbattoir Five?
