According to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), the earliest known use of the noun kinship in English is from 1786.  The 1786 citation is found in the County Magazine, according to the OED.  Similar sources, such as Etymonline, note a similar origin around the mid-to-late 18th century (listing 1764).   While kinship appeared in the late 1700s, related terms like kindred and sib have been used since Old English (pre-1150), and relationship appeared in 1724.
