I can't go on

I feel so guilty for what I'm about to do. I've bugged everyone aroud me for the chance to prove I can hang with everyone around me. I worked hard and made sacrafices to rise above the naysayers who said I wouldn't last. I had to prove them all wrong and at least give it a try.

I failed.

Still, I'm glad I tried. If nothing else, I can say I hung in there, but in the end, I was way out of my league. Some people even tried to warn me that I wouldn't be able to see this through, but I wouldn't listen. Along the way, there were the antagonists who tried to bait me into failure, but I wasn't paying them any mind.

Finally, after a stubborn, foolish stand, I conceed to defeat. I'm just not cut out for this anymore.

I have to eat meat.

The initial appeal to a vegetarian lifestyle stemmed from watching my stepmom bask in its glory. She takes her commitment so seriously that she even reads the ingrediants on each package to be sure there's no animal by product in it. It was going to be easy, I thought, to piggy back on her diet. But there was something I wasn't counting on.

My insatiable appetite for meat. Any meat. Fish, red meat, chicken, pork....mmmm, delicioius, fatty pork. So, after falling off the wagon for the last time today, I decided that resistance is futile. My dad grilled up some chicken thighs today, and I made him leave the skin on just so I could endulge in an old decadent pleasure that I know is horrible for me.

On top of that, I see that there's a roast defrosting in the fridge. I'm hoping their gonna make it tomorrow so I can trim the fat and put it all on my plate and gobble it all up. Gross, I know, but I can't help that I'm craving meat in thw worst way right now.

Ok, so now that I've completely turned your stomachs, I'll update you all on my story progress:::

I finished two chapters this week. One chapter of Staking My Claim and one of Time In A Bottle. I'm also working on a couple ideas for a short story, as well as a collaberation with some of my favorite authors on the net.

I didn't have a lot of time to write this week. Most of the time I had at home was spent reading Anthology entries and working on reviews. I have to say that I feel really lucky to have been able to help Kitty out with this, and I got to read 14 really good stories in exchange :)

As I was reading over each entry, I wondered what was in store for each author that submitted stories. Writing 14 reviews isn't easy, but I have to say that the stories I got to read were pretty easy to work with. Of course, it was great working with Kitty, our fearless Anthology coordinator. She works so hard on these anthologies and she deserves so many thanks for all of her effort.

Well, as soon as I get my chapters back from my editor, I'll send them in to be posted. in the meanwhile, Kisses

:)

LOL, I've been doing the vegetarian thing for the last five months. Personally it's been really easy for me. I've never been that big a fan of meat. I've always loved vegetables, and "sides" in general. When I was a kid I would always finish everything else on my plate and leave the meat. I've always thought pork was just plain disgusting, and after having such an abundant supply of beef growing up (my family raised beef cows), by the time I reached college I was more than tired of beef and red meat in general. Thus, prior to about five months ago I pretty much only ate chicken anyway. Days would pass and all of a sudden I'd realize, "Hey, you haven't had any meat in a while". SO a few months ago I finally decided, "what the heck, I'll do the vegetarian thing for awhile". Like I say, it's been easy for me.

Of course I'm like the lowest level, least strict vegetarian. I'm a lacto, ovo, pesco which means I eat dairy products, eggs (although hardly ever anyway, I much prefer the taste and nutrition in the "Egg beaters"), and fish/seafood. Since I still eat the fish/seafood, I kinda don't even feel like a vegetarian and don't like to say I am around the "real" vegetarians :P , but it's a recognized level anyway lol. I love seafood! I'm sure I could also give it up, and indeed I may eventually in the future (in the same way that chicken was the last of the "regular" meats to go), but I'm not ready just yet. Besides, I really like seafood, and it's much healthier than regular meats. It's also convenient since I can still go to practically any restaurant and just order off the seafood menu regardless of what vegetarian options they have.

Awesome job with the anthology reviews! I know that meant alot to the authors!

Take care and have a fantastic day!

I like to think I'm vegetarianally inclined, but no I'm not really. Like you, I enjoy meat too much, though I hate, HATE fat. Yelch.

I totally agree with Kevin! You wrote a great set of reviews for the anthology.

I'm having a motivation-bypass day, so I'll just say... DITTO :great:

Vegetarianism is kind of difficult to pull off. When your body is used to the intake of meats then your body is going to crave it when it's not getting it. So really, even if you missed and craved meat your body was also working against you. Also, when you limit yourself to no meat in your over all diet your body is lacking a lot of neutrients. We're naturally Omniverous so our bodies have needs that vegetables and fruits don't give.

Vegetarianism also fails when someone don't have an extremely wide range of meals in your diet. Neutricianally vitamin suppliments would really help people get what they need. People need a larger variety when they don't have meat in their diet. So if you ever try it again become a skilled chef it will help out tons.

Supposedly there's also a blood type factor, with O needing meats, and other types, like AB not needing them at all.
