Doldrums

It's hot and humid here in the midwest. It's f**king miserable. I hate summers here. Summers where you can't go outside for more than five minutes without getting drenched in sweat. Summers where the air-conditioner never stops running, and the electric bill shows it. Summers where the sprinklers can't keep the lawn wet one week, then torrential thunderstorms threaten to wash everything away the next. Give me snow, I can handle that, but not this shit. It makes me feel depressed and beaten down. All movement, all activity just takes so much effort. Tough for someone like me who's inherently lazy.

It kind of feels like that around here too. Seems people don't post as much, although maybe it's just my forum. People go on vacation. They do whatever they do. But they seem to be here less. I hope that's a good thing, that they're doing something fun, and that they live somewhere pleasant.

Sigh.

And Chase, before you tell me how wonderful SoCal beach weather is, let me preemptively tell you to bite me. :D And mention fog.

Well, Mark, we get similar weather here in California, too...just not often enough to b***h about it... I do remember that we have all but a few of the world's climates available here in our state. I remember skiing in Big Bear in 80F weather, the girls were in haltertops, and the boys were shirtless and in cut-off shorts! (YAY!) :P

Then we went down to the beach the next day, we left the same weather, 85F though, and Newport Beach was 60F, overcast and all crappy.... Then there's the tule fog over the grapvine and in the San Joaquin Valley...don't even go there...

Doldrums reminds me of the phantom toll booth. What a story that was, speaking of far off places, go on a vacation loser.

What part of the Midwest are you in, Mark? It's pretty brutal here in the Twin Cities, but not quite as bad as farther south.

Here in Northeast Wisconsin, it is so terrible. We do not have a/c at some, so it really sucks. You are constantly drenched. At least my bedroom is in there basement where it is cooler.

St. Louis, Missouri. (pronounced Mizz-ur-e. Wait, that sounds like Misery. Coincidence? I think not)

I prefer colder weather, myself. Fall is my favorite season.

Sorry about the heat. Maybe it's time for an Alaskan cruise. ;D

Did I mention I'm going on vacation?

I am too. Where?

My front porch. I'm going to rest my feet on the railing and do nothing. My idea of the perfect vacation.

Your front porch, your feet on the railing, a glass of wine or lemonade next to you, and your laptop planted firmly in your lap, editing. :P
