hmmmmmm, something you haven't done since highschool...my first thought was group sex, but I have decided it must be crossdressing. Dom the transvestite...sounds sexy.

Hey Dom! Well as far as the MM attraction goes, I don't have much to offer one way or another. You got me kinda excited (eager, not aroused) when you mentioned he had blonde hair (blonde guys are my number 1 fetish!), so I googled him (I'd definitely heard of him, but couldn't put the name and face together), anyway when I saw him I remembered who he was. And yeah there were some hot pics of him, but there were also so ho-hum ones, and worst of all, in most of the pics I saw he wasn't even particularly blonde lol :( . So anyway yeah he's hot, but not sexiest man alive hot in my opinion......you know what male celebrity I think's the hottest, Jesse McCartney! WOWOWOW! Is that kid cute. how old is he anyway? Is he too young for me? Not that'd really ever expect to be with him, but I don't wanna perve on a teenager. Anyway I think I went off topic a bit (darn Jesse!), I can readily identify with how now that EVERYONE thinks he's hot it's more boring. I like to be ahead of trends myself. Like 5 or so years ago Sushi was just starting in my area, so when they opened the first sushi restaurant in the area my friends and I went, and I was hooked from the first bite! And I ate it alot, then it got more and more popular and they opened more and more places, and then it got really trendy. And while I still like it, I guess I thought it was cool when it was just me and a few other people I knew that were into it....Anyway same thing happened with Greek food, I went on a Greek kick when the sushi thing got mainstream, and darn it if a year or so later the newspaper ran a whole article about a developing Greek trend and where to go for good Greek food. So anyway yeah it's definitely more fun being ahead of the trend that just looking like one of the sheep :P .

As far as what you did today that you hadn't done since high school.....I'm gonna guess (and hope I'm wrong) "gave some nerdy guy a wedgie and then knocked off his glasses"?

As far as DD goes, I LOVE the story and it may, MAY (but probably not) even have the potential to replace TLW as my favorite. Anyway I think I'd be happy with whomever anyone ends up with. I think the major thing I want to see is a reconcilation (friendship wise not necessarily romantically) between Luke and Aaron (not trying to convince you to do this, just mentioning it), and I think I'd be happy with any coupling from among Rory, Luke, and Aaron. Seth I really don't like right now, but that's probably just because you've done such a good job writing him as the "bad guy" maybe as we learn more about him he'll grow on me.

Anyway take care of yourself, Dom, and I hope you have a fantastically, great day!

I'm going to RANT in your blog.

I have read a lot of people ripping on your character Rory in DD. Rory is a pain they say. Rory is a little bitch they say.

What is it with these people?

-Rory's Mom got sick when he was 14 and died of cancer.

-He had to leave the only home he ever knew and move to live with strangers.

-He had to go live with a father he never knew (!)

-He faced having to come out all over again to a father he barely knows. (up to chap. 10)

-He knows there are things that he doesn't know and futhermore, those little details are being withheld.

If anyone has an absolutely valid excuse to HAVE ISSUES, its poor Rory. Jeez- it's a wonder the poor guy hasn't shot himdelf or gone postal.

OK- so maybe Rory acts like an angry, mixed up, scared and confused kid. THAT's BECAUSE HE IS!

Rory is a product of a lot of trauma not charm school.

i have to agree with you; rory's anger is totally valid -- and sure, and he tends to be extremely susceptible, but if he didn't feel so vulnerable, he wouldn't be react as aggressively as he is.

again a big bravo to dom who makes his characters feel so real. you really know how to describe people and the relationships they have, which are as complex as they are in real life.

take care people,

tommy.

Welcome to the wonderful realm of Domaholics. And based on your rant, you have made a great leap to the top tier of, what the rest of us affectionately call, DomLuka Madness. Something would be seriously wrong if we didn't 'Alpha Female :D ' about either the charactors, the direction of the plot, or the subliminal role of any animals. It's what we do.

We'll be sure to have Vic send out your decoder ring immediately. Why a decoder ring, you ask? Well...it's a well kept secret that Dom adds hidden messages about the plot and such in his blog entries. You can now find these with the handy dandy help of your decoder ring. We'll express mail it so it arrives promptly.

(Sorry - I made the mistake of having the last piece of birthday cake (chocolate) for breakfast this morning so I'm suffering from an intense sugar rush along with my usual caffine buzz.)

<snipping the reasons Rory acts the way he does>

I'd like to add something here too. It's another one of those "continuities in Dom's writings" things. I point these out because I think they are wonderful things, which make the writing so strong and believable. Quinn, Owen and Rory have some things in common which are essential for the structures of these stories. Not essential for everybody's stories. Essential for Dom's stories.

Every one of these boys comes out in a time of not just turmoil but the utter destruction of the family of his childhood. At the same time as they are figuring themselves out and finding true love (at least for the time being, realistically these are kids and they're likely to find true love at least another time or two before they settle in for good, if they do), they are reconstructing their entire social world from scratch. (family and community)

They sometimes (often) look and sound like tantrumming toddlers -- for good reason: they're melting down for the same reason. Little kids whine and scream and pitch a fit not because they just didn't get their way but because something has happened that they can't reconcile with their imperfect developing sense of how the world works (which is why "spoiled" kids do it more than other kids -- they've been given a false sense that the world works according to their current whim, and they don't understand how their desires and other people's needs interact, so they freak out -- and are often truly frightened -- when they don't get what they want. Then they find out that freaking out does give them what they demanded, which tells them that freaking out is how you restore order to the world. Thus manipulative behavior is born. But that's not Owen, Rory and Quinn. They're just knocked end over end by the destruction of their universe, that's all)

It would be unrealistic to portray boys in this situation as cool, mature, and objective -- even worse, if they were like that, there would be no story, because they would do the exact right thing at every turn and it would all get worked out in a few paragraphs.

So. Rory's rackety attempts to deal with the world he's offered are a good thing, because they get us a story!

(I've been reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver and I can't help thinking "Rory, Yror, Story, Ystor, Rory Story, Yror Ystor" as if I were speechless Adah)

That would be just fine and dandy if Rory didn't have what he has. What is that? He has friends. He has a father who wants him, AFTER knowing he is gay. His 'roommate' is putting up with a lot more than you know when it comes to Rory (Aaron Keslin). Eddie and the others weren't the only ones lying in that house, which scores Luke extra points for not punching Rory in the throat. The chances are very good that most of Rory's new friends, if not all of Rory's new friends, will be accepting of his homosexuality. What makes the situation worse is he would rather LEAVE all of that to go to a place where his guardian is exceptional at hiding things and making it other peoples' faults in the process, and where he has no idea just how anyone might react to his being gay. While there are still some closed doors on certain strategic secrets (Seth, Aaron and Lukes relationship, the conflict between Jase and Eddie), those are secrets that Rory can live without knowing, and are only a necessity to the plot of the story being told (which is in my mind the only reason Dom threw them at us). The only reason I am holding back on calling him a little terd is because he still has every right to be angry, it just seems like he goes too far sometimes.

Dom, two things. One, you have to anticipate people overanalyzing your stories when they've yet to show a discernable direction (DD), or have the reader wanting to kick a character or two (TOU). It just means you're doing a good job at keeping our attention, so you need only worry if the overanalyzing is brief before a new topic forges its way into our lives :P . Second, you probably could have avoided the transvestite comment had you not mentioned a friend wearing lipstick. Keep us posted on that BTW. :2thumbs:

He only has them when he knows he has them, and that's a thing that takes time and experience, which he is busily collecting now.

Why, yes, I'm avoiding stuff. That's why I'm doing this instead of . . oh, it's time to go to bed now.

Rory's fast becoming my favourite character to read. Owen's situation was rougher, but he had the support of his brothers and quickly made friends at school. Rory  is completely isolated and is in an impossible situation. It's a wild guess, but I wonder if Luke 0:) might have given Aaron TLS  a run for his money except for the Vow of Silence imposed by Eddie and (indirectly) by Alice the Incomprehensible  . On the information Eddie had at the time, the Vow of Silence was not such a bad idea although it lasted too long. I can only surmise that Aaron TLS paid Alice the Incomprehensible quite a lot of money to make sure the Vow of Silence would be in place. This may be a big old soap opera but it's becoming my favourite branch of the Domlucian mythos. :worship:
