Racist sentiments (no, not my own)

On the news, they talked about these people who work for the Grand Prairie Police Department. Apparently, an email was going around, one that contained an image of Air Force 1 with the N word on it, you know the really bad one that rhymes with bigger? Anyway, my mom said she had seen the email in question and thought it was funny. This makes me sad that she would find it funny, especially when she's supposedly befriended black people before. I don't find it funny at all. :(

Me either. It's really sad and frustrating to find bigotry in your own family. My parents are both relatively "enlightened", but in my extended family, there are some bigots, although they're careful not to show it around me. I won't put up with it.

I have one aunt who, when talking about African Americans, will say "he's black" but in a near whisper, as if it's a horrible thing. I usually glare at her and she stops doing it, until I see her next time. Then again, she's old and forgets that it pisses me off.

MY step father is racist at times. He never exactly admitted it, but I can see it. Especially when my mom talks about my dad and his wife and my sister (my step mother is african american). It really makes me sad for him.
