Interstate at Night

Wow. The last week has been a blur.

Last Saturday night I got a call from my Aunt. My uncle died. The funeral was Tuesday.

So soon after my Dad's death, it brought it all back. Another military funeral. Another flag draped coffin. Another soldier from a forgotten, unpopular war.

It pissed me off. So I wrote Valhalla. I'll be posting it soon.

Wednesday morning I drove my Mom to Dallas to have Thanksgiving at my brothers house. Traffic sucked. It took 3 hours to get from Canton, Texas to Flower Mound. I thought I would go postal.

After we got there all was well. My sister-in-law outdid herself in the kitchen. Thanksgiving was great and my brother and I watched the Texas-Texas A&M game.

Black Friday I went to my favorite book store on the planet: Recycled Books in the Opera House at Denton, TX. We ate at a nice Italian restaurant. I had mussels & shrimp on pasta.

This morning we walked the Grapevine Mills Mall, had lunch at Animia's and drove back.

Easier said than done. It's four hundred something miles from Dallas to Jackson. It took eith hours. I got Mom home at 9 and I straggled in at 10.

Tomorrow... I plan on doing- not much.

Sounds like a busy weekend. Yeah, I am not surprised about the traffic. I-35, Central Expressway, I-635, and I-20 are not the funnest roads to drive on. :P

I'm sorry. My condolences to you and your family. Sam

Every time I drove through the metroplex I always avoided any interstate with a "3" in it. I-20, though horrendous at times, then cut up through the middle on 408/12 or 360. It's further, but the traffic seems to keep moving.

Sorry to hear about another bereavement James but glad you managed to have a good thanksgiving. I think you deserve some rest and I am looking forward to reading Valhalla. Strangely enough my inspiration for the Winter anthology entry came at my uncle's funeral in August.
