Sir Edmund Hillary dies.

 

Everest conqueror Sir Edmund Hillary has died, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark announced today.

 

He died this morning at the age of 88.

 

Sir Edmund became the first person to stand on Mt Everest, the world's highest peak, on June 2, 1953 - the day of Queen Elizabeth's coronation.

Ya, They mentioned it in the news tonight. It's a sad news, being the first one to climb Mt Everest is more than a great achievement.

That's terrible. I'm glad he lived such a full and interesting life. Many have died just attempting to climb Mount Everest.

This reminds me of George Mallory and the recovery of his body in 1999 on Everest... He would have been the first to scale Everest too...
