Ieshwar Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Poisoned Nectar by Ieshwar You had your first drink with me Had never seen you more happy You shed your masks of grief and timidity You joked; you talked and even sang
FrenchCanadian Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Ieshwar, I love it, and I have to start with I feel the pain being expressed in here. I really love that poem, it has so much meaning for me The line that has the most meaning for me is the last one "But you had chosen your life and I chose mine"
Ieshwar Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 Thanks, Sacha, for the comments and the hug! This poem means a lot to me too. Glad that you liked it. Take care, Ieshwar
S.L. Lewis Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) Now that's done, this is a wonderful, if sad, poem. *looks around* *clicks favorite on her book marks* *goes back to her web surfing* Edited February 17, 2008 by Rose Strailo
AFriendlyFace Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 This is a very intense poem. I wonder if the obvious interpretation, that of an alcoholic becoming addicted, is the correct way to read the poem. Almost certainly it could be read with regard to any addiction or overwhelming desire. I agree that the whole "you chose your life; I chose mine" theme is extremely moving and all around powerful. All in all a very great poem! -Kevin
