A policewoman promoted for breastfeeding quake babies in China

 

A Chinese policewoman who breastfed babies orphaned during last month's earthquake has been given a better job, prompting online protests that promotions should be awarded on merit, not merely for good deeds.

 

What do you folks think about this?

 

I think for a public service position like police work 'good deeds' sort of are part of the job description. In this case she clearly went above and beyond the call of duty. So I think her promotion is merited. Other thoughts?
