BlueSoxSWJ Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I was starting to get really excited about the upcoming winter classic, but now I'm not so sure sitting outside for 3 hours is gonna be so much fun:
JamesSavik Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 winter classic Winter classic what? The sprint to Florida?
MikeL Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Winter classic what? The sprint to Florida? The snow birds have already flown south, James. The relatively few still in Boston have had their wings clipped.
BlueSoxSWJ Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 I'm a Bruins season ticket holder, so I'll be in Fenway for the Winter Classic against the Flyers on Friday. I'm hoping the wind chill won't quite be as bad as the current -6.
W_L Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I was never much a Bruins fan. I was at Fenway though opening day for the Sox and TD BankNorth for one of the Celt games. He means the NHL Winter Classic, it's a famed outdoor ice hockey game among fans. I just hope the fans bring plenty of fanny and leg warmers for the cold Fenway seats . (It's held at Fenway this year)
Site Administrator wildone Posted December 30, 2009 Site Administrator Posted December 30, 2009 I was starting to get really excited about the upcoming winter classic, but now I'm not so sure sitting outside for 3 hours is gonna be so much fun: Come on, if the folks up in Edmonton braved -22 F back at the original, you can survive -6 . Besides, it is probably the only time that hugging another male at a NHL game will be considered appropriate for more than 10 seconds
TetRefine Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 As a diehard Bruins fan, I would be plenty willing to sit in the freezing cold to watch a game at Fenway if you wanna give me your tickets. (Yeah right Matt, keep dreaming ) I still think though that it should have been Boston/Montreal. That would have made the day even more memorable.
Toast Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 If the game is good you won't notice the cold. Sharing body heat sounds good.
TetRefine Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 If the game is good you won't notice the cold. Sharing body heat sounds good. Yeah, negative temperatures shouldn't stop a New Englander from going to see one of the greatest N.E. sporting events of the decade. And sharing body heat sounds like a great idea Bugeye!
Kev de Cauchery Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Gosh. the word 'F*nway' hurt my eyes. No offense to NHL lovers.
Camilo Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Gosh. the word 'F*nway' hurt my eyes. No offense to NHL lovers. I agree with Kevin, anything Boston hurts my eyes/ears/and even hands. ::shudders::
Kev de Cauchery Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I agree with Kevin, anything Boston hurts my eyes/ears/and even hands. ::shudders:: Anything but W.L. For me though, only the park annoys me. And the baseball team, of course.
W_L Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Anything but W.L. For me though, only the park annoys me. And the baseball team, of course. Aww, I have an Admirer :2thumbs:
Kev de Cauchery Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Aww, I have an Admirer Oh yes you do, with a capital A. Don't get big-headed though. LOL.
TetRefine Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 One more day!!!! Im so excited Im like a little kid in a candy store. Even though Im not going to the game, its going to be epic. I mean hockey at Fenway Park, what more could you want?
Site Administrator wildone Posted December 31, 2009 Site Administrator Posted December 31, 2009 Well for those that do go, and those who watch it on TV, I'm sure it is going to be a great game. The rumour is that next year will be the Battle of Alberta outside in Calgary. BTW, Happy New year while enjoying the game.
BlueSoxSWJ Posted January 1, 2010 Author Posted January 1, 2010 I hope it snows again tomorrow. Currently it's supposed to be light snow until about 11AM, then partly cloudy and about 35 degrees for the game. For a while it looked like it might rain; that would've sucked.
TetRefine Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 This game definitely lived up to it's hype. There was a lot of hard, grinding play throughout the game and an old '70s rivalry was renewed. An overtime thriller at Fenway Park on New Year's Day, with the Bruins winning. What more could you ask for!
Toast Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 TetRefine, I'm glad the game was good and you had a good time.!
