Seeing banners help ads.... I was inspired. I want to make my own. I am learning how to use photoshop and I think I can make one. My question is ... I see that some authors use their banners as their signature... how do I do that? and How would I be able to link a site to my banner? Like when I click on the banner it'll take me to the story so i don't have to have an external link. Any replies or help would be nice and thanks for helping and viewing.

Well, this is how I do it. I doubt there is any other way. You can use this as a template. In the URL part, add the link to your story. I suggest using a URL shortener like Tiny URL. Do NOT, however, use a URL shortener for the image (img) tag. Also, if you're using photobucket in particular, use the link you are given if you right click on the image and select "Copy Link Location". It will not recognize the link photobucket provides below.

[url=http://www.google.com/][img=http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif][/url]

That should produce this:

logo.gif

Sorry I might be annoying. Which URL part? In the Insert image part or insert link part? And what do you mean image tag? I tried inserting in both places and it doesn't work... that google link i mean. Sorry I'm being annoying...

The first link is to the website you want people to go to. The second is the image that links to said website.

[url=http://www.google.com/][img=http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif][/url]

The first link you see in the code will direct you to the home page of Google, as in what you see if you type in www.google.com with http:// at the beginning. That's not an image. If you wanted to embed (or insert) the link to Google in an image, you would add www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif again with http:// at the end of the code in between the IMG and /IMG surrounded with these []. The Image take starts with

[img]

and ends with

[/img]

I have never found BB Code confusing, but I can see why some people might. It's like an alternative version of HTML that's mainly for forums if that makes sense. You can go to this site and find out more. Pretty much any alteration or special addition to your posts is in BB Code.

Thanks I figured it out! You're awesome! I was confused about the part of where to insert the link. I thought I was suppose to insert it into the preinserts... (the little icons for adding link and image click on those and then add the string in). But you just patse it directly into the signature box. :D Thanks for your help. Hopefully I can make a decent banner.
