You know, I hardly know where to begin! It has been an awesome experience, discovering Dom's stories on Nifty, and then arriving here on this forum after reading my way through. How long has it been? Not sure - I guess about 4 weeks ago I had never read a Dom story!! Really, I don't think it's overstating the case to say that my thinking and attitudes will never be quite the same again.

:worship:

To begin with, I was hooked from the start when I discovered TOU on Nifty. I had read plenty of other Nifty stories, but never discovered anything of the calibre and realism of TOU. Quinn's character is so totally believable, and you just get into his skin and his mind from the first. I felt myself living every high and low point as if it was me! :lmao:

Imagine my amazement when I found this site, and started in on DD and TLO pretty much at the same time...... the guy is a genius, and a prolific one at that.

Now let me say that I am over 50, a parent (yes, one of the dreaded RENTs!!) and that I grew up through my teenage years knowing full well that I was gay, and staying firmly in the closet. Marriage for me has worked, in that it has been a wonderful relationship, and produced 3 great kids who are now young adults.

But.........

there is always this big space inside me that is unfulfilled. And I know that if I had had the guts to go through what Quinn, Rory and Owen all went through, the yawning gap in my life would not be there.

The dilemma of course is that neither would the three beautiful people who are my kids!

Well I guess we all have our regrets and our unfulfilled dreams by the time we are 50!!

I can tell you one of my unfulfilled dreams is definitely either Aiden or Jude - what awesome characters they both are, with the ability to strengthen and support their boyfriends through all the shit life throws at them!

Thanks a million times over, Dom, for the insight you've given me into what might have been in my own youth, into what happens in young people's lives today, and into the joys and some fo the sorrows of gay relationships. It's been an amazing few weeks, and I am itching to read the next instalment of TOU - like loads of people on the forum - and hoping that DD gets a relaunch as well!

Welcome Neil!!!!! It's always nice to hear from another Domaholic (well, you sound like a Domaholic :D ) and hear about their excitement in discovering Dom's work.

Many of us had similar types of feelings and wanted to somehow let the world know what a great discovery we've made.

You've come to the right place. :2thumbs: And we hope you continue to post here in the forum.

Vic the Domaholic

P.S. - I see you are from the U.K. When you do post, do try to keep down the number of extra 'U's y'all seem to keep putting in your words (colour, honour, etc). We here in the colonies get confused by that. :P

I have to agree. Up until only a few days ago, i hadn't read any of Doms stuff, and now its like, wow! He's re-awoken the urge i used to have to write myself, hence whuy i am here. I hope soon to have a few stories of my own up <not that they will be in Doms league>

But i have to say, The Ordinary Us is a beautiful Story. I am completely hooked on it, and am dying for the next chapter. Im just hoping Quinn and Jade get the ending that they deserve <sad endings never sit well with me haha>
