W_L Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Nice storytelling and awesome graphics are easy to point out, but character development and wider story arcs are harder to just point and understand. I know some of you guys don't like Comic book movies, but a story about the essence of human conflict and our self destructive impulses versus our nobler goals is worth a lot in good narratives. Without giving spoilers, there is a scene in the movie that reminds people of why comic books exists for fun and interesting effects (let's just say I think a Flash movie can be extremely cool based on how far our graphics have come). As for some general notes, the X-Men among many of their allegories from racial minorities to sexual minorities (hated by morally superior, fear of being "outed", and every gay cliche you can think up ) Their stories are great allegories for gay youth in the 80-90's, though recent stories lose some of their poignancy, it still holds an interesting place in fictional literature. 1
