LeonMichaels Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 With great fanfare and a drum-roll it was announced today that, for the very first time, a gravitational wave has been detected! The gravitational wave, which is a ripple in space and time, was caused by the violent collision and merger of two black holes. This discovery is really a monumental achievement, which will surely be awarded a nobel prize in the near future. See here for a very nice discussion on why this is so amazingly awesome. 5

W_L Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Black holes eat each other. Scientists excited by the belch. It's a sign from the Heavens! Neat discovery, wonder if that means a region of space just got time dilated by a few million years in comparison to us.
Ashi Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Where is Drew??? Where is Drew??? Did he get sucked by the two black holes? 1
