  1. LOL. And you're about to get another one! Don't hold back, let me know how you really feel about Jackie, lol. She's definitely not behaving as she has through the earlier chapters, but I think her behavior here does make you question some of her previous actions. It also might make you wonder what brought her to this point. Only further reading will provide the answers. I agree with you about Brent, but the question now is, what is he going to do and what sort of repercussions is he going to face for that choice. Mark definitely has some support, but it's still gotta be hard. I agree, there is no excuse, no matter the circumstances, for David and Jackie's behavior. Thanks for the review Lisa!!!
  2. I hope over the top means just past what you were expecting. Jackie definitely showed another side of herself in this chapter, but as to how that will affect her and her relationships still remains to be seen. Mark does at least have Trey and his family, which is at least some consolation. Thank you for your review! I hope to hear from you on the future chapters!
  3. Her actions in this chapter definitely make you look back and wonder about some of her actions throughout the story. Only time, and future chapters, will tell how their relationship will progress. Their father is just an ass, to put it mildly. I didn't like him before and I really don't like him after this chapter... Now, what do I have planned for the upcoming chapters... for that, you'll just have to wait and see.
  4. Jackie was definitely a piece of work in this chapter, though if their dad is anything to go by, she comes by it naturally. I think it's hard for anyone to imagine how much he didn't want to face his father until they could actually see just how his dad was. Don't worry, you won't have long to wait for the next installment. As always, thanks for the review! I love seeing what you think of the chapters!
  5. He was, I don't know what he'd have done without them. Though, it's hard to imagine how he must have felt at being treated like that in front of Trey's parents. As for Jackie, definitely not acting like a loving sister, jealousy definitely could be an issue with her. Thank you for the review!!
  6. Thank you for the review Secret! I'm glad that you are enjoying the story. The biggest question is, what got into Jackie, is it just death bringing it out in her or is there something more going on here than what we've seen. Hope you keep reading to find out!
  7. You are spot on DDK. I think that's part of what made this chapter so hard to write. The combination of not wanting to send Trey off, and the difficulty in getting the emotions right. Thank you for the review!
  8. Thank you LadyDe. It was a tough chapter to write, hence the long delay. I really really didn't want to write his leaving which made it difficult to get into the chapter. The funeral, well... that's coming up quick and it'll be interesting to see what everyone thinks.
  9. It makes perfect sense, at least to me. It's a lot happening all at once and it's gotta be hard for him to handle. As to what effect Gary and Diane will have on Mark's dad, well, you'll just have to wait and see
  10. Thanks for the review LadyDe! A year can definitely seem like a very long time, especially when worried about a loved one. Let's hope for their sake that it does fly by. As for Mark's dad... well, we're gonna find out.

    Chapter Forty

Mark shoved the car in park and turned to Gary. “Are you sure you wouldn’t rather go to the hotel? I can’t guarantee this won’t get ugly.” All of them had been fairly quiet during the trip down. He’d appreciated Gary and Diane not needing to make conversation. He’d been lost in his own thoughts, trying to figure out the best way to handle the upcoming meeting with his dad and had finally decided to play it by ear. He doubted Dad was going to welcome him with open arms, but maybe he’d at le

    The Only One

How did I miss this review?! I'm glad you enjoyed the story Jo Ann. It was interesting to write as I had a hard time imagining it. Thanks for the review Jo Ann!
  14. “Why do I even bother?” I shook my head as I pulled the covers over Jake. He was dressed in his pajamas when I’d sent him to bed a half hour before, but when I’d gone to check on him, he’d stripped out of everything except his underwear. At least he’d been in bed like I’d asked. “Everything okay?” I looked over at Tony leaning in the doorway and smiled even as it sent a pang of remembering through me. I couldn’t count the number of times Dave had done the same thing. I’d never expected h
  15. I hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween. Did you get lots of Trick-or-Treaters or did you hide from the ghosts and goblins that were prowling around the streets? For those who are in a place who practice Daylight Savings Time, did you remember to set your clocks back an hour before you went to bed? We started out the week with the CSR Discussion Day. Cia asked a few of the authors for this month some Halloween related questions. The answers got really interesting and are definitely worth a look, if you haven't already done so, check it out and feel free to leave a comment. Tuesday's are a great time to look at what is offered in the Premium section of Gay Authors. This week was no different as we featured "Hard Knocks", the final story in DKstories's "Waiting For The Sign" Trilogy. If you're interested in helping to support GA, there's also information on how to become a Premium Subscriber. Myr joined us on the blog on Wednesday with this month's Tech blog! With the upgrade that will be coming to the forum software in coming months, many members might be wondering what it means for them personally and what they can do to help. Myr gave a lot of great information so make sure to check it out! If you're stuck on a story or just maybe wanting a break from what you're normally working on, check out Friday's Prompt feature. Not only were there two new prompts for you to choose from, but we also featured a previous prompt response from Carlos H. Have you been downloading the Signature Author Backgrounds? Cia uploaded the newest one on Saturday. This month's feature is Save or Sacrifice by popular and long term Signature Author, Comicality. 16. Mark heard the alarm and silenced it before clenching his eyes shut tighter. He didn’t want it to be morning. Morning meant meeting Gary and Diane for a very early breakfast before taking Trey back to base. To make matters worse, after seeing Trey off, he’d have to come back home and get ready to go back home for his mom’s funeral. He wasn’t looking forward to facing his Dad, but he owed it to his mom to be there. “You doing okay?” Trey pressed against him and wrapped an arm around his wa
  17. Before we get into this week's prompts, first a reminder. This sunday marks the end of daylight savings, so if you're in an area that does the whole daylight savings thing, don't forget that you will need to set your clock's back one hour prior to going to bed (if you go to bed before 2 am!). Now, let's see what comicfan has for us this week! Prompt 366 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – corn, hay bale, scarecrow, tractor, and skinned knee. Prompt 367 – Creative Tag – The Opposite You have always date the same type of person and while not exactly successful with it, you never seen a reason to change. Of course that all changed when you met them. Talk about a total opposite. What about this person so attracts you, compared to the others you used to date? This week I'm featuring a bit of a sad one, so here's Carlos H's response to Prompt #364; Read the rest, here.
  18. Well, I'm running a bit late today. As always, Tuesday is a great day to look over what is available in our Premium Section as a thank you to those who help support the site and keep it running. One of the stories available to subscribers is the 3rd book in the Waiting For The Sign Trilogy, "Hard Knocks" by Dkstories. Hard Knocks by Dkstories “Life is full of Hard Knocks, kid, it’s how you deal with them that makes the difference.” Kevin always imagined that his father would have told him that, but he’d never met the man. Working hard, he’d pulled himself out of the swamps of his birth and into Stanford, pitching his way into a full-ride scholarship. Now he’s got another hard knock to deal with, this time from the hand of his ex-girlfriend and the public disgrace that followed. With that in mind, I want to do things a little different for round two, but to do so, I need some help! I need some Premium Content Reviewers! If you've read a Premium Content story and are willing to do a review on it, I'd love to hear from you! A few of them have already been chosen, but there are still many many more that need reviews done. Thanks in advance!
  19. Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend so far. Monday will be here before we know it, but before that happens, lets take a look at what happened this week in the GA News Blog, cause there's been quite a bit to look back at. Due to last weeks takeover of the blog due to an issue with story ratings, Cia did a re-run on Monday of her review of the Signature Author Background story, Joined by Blood. If you haven't read the story, why not pop by the blog and see if it might interest you. If you have read it, feel free to stop by and share your own thoughts. On Tuesday we welcomed back our Premium Tuesday blog and featured Lugh's story, Binding. If you're interested in helping to support Gay Authors, and would like access to some extra story content as well, check it out. Not only is there some info about Lugh's story, but there's also some information on how to become a Premium Subscriber. Wednesday continued Signature Week with Cia's interview with Renee Stevens about her story "Joined by Blood". Curious as to where the title came from? Maybe you want to know, Why vampires? Cia asks that and more during the interview, so check it out. On Friday we had two new prompts from the Prompt Guru, Comicfan. If you've been feeling stuck or just want to take a short break from the norm, or maybe you're dipping your fingers into writing for the first time, the prompts are a great writing exercise. This week we featured an older prompt response from Sasha Distan, so check it out! Normally we don't have a Saturday post, but this week we had the unpleasant task of informing the GA Membership that we had confirmed the passing of long-time member and Classic Author, Jack Scribe who passed away earlier this year. Rest in Peace, Jack. 20. Rest in Peace It recently came to our attention that long time member and Classic Author, Jack Scribe passed away earlier this year. Jack joined Gay Authors in June 2006 and since then has posted 19 stories, including the popular Splash Trilogy as well as the Las Vegas Trilogy. Not only was he a popular author on-site, but many members considered him a friend. He will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Jack.
  21. Thank you Slytherin. I'm not sure how far in the future a sequel would be set, and like I said, not even sure when I'd get a chance to write, it, but I'm keeping an open mind and have a few thoughts for one. LOL. Well, it was true when I started answering the questions! Then I had to put it away for a day or so and when I sat down to finish I was in pj's... and my camo slippers Thank you Cole! I hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think
  22. Sorry for the mistake all, and thank you AJ for fixing it as I was up on the mountain pulling camp. Not sure how I made the mistake, except that I was doing it just before leaving town, but it's no excuse and I'm glad it's fixed.
  23. I hope everyone has had a great week up until this point and that everyone has a wonderful weekend as well. Friday has once again graced us with it's presence and with it we have two more prompts from the prompt guru, Comicfan. As always, we're also sharing a previous prompt response. Don't forget, if either of these prompts trigger a response from you, share it in the prompt forum and maybe you'll see yours featured next week! Prompt 364 – Creative Tag – First Line “That is the last time I am telling you anything!” Prompt 365 – Creative Tag – The Children Two weeks ago a new strain of virus was found to be breaking out across the world. The very old and they very young seemed to be the only ones affected. Every adult over the age of sixty five that developed the virus died painfully within two days. The children seemed to spike after three days and recover,. However, a week after their release from the hospital people all over are noticing a major change in the children. What is wrong with the children? Since there wasn't much response to last week's prompts, I looked a little further back and found this response from Sasha Distan, from Prompt #352:

  25. Wow, what a week! This week was supposed to be Signature Week, but due to the situation regarding Google Adsense, Signature Week was put on pause and moved to next week. As a reminder of what I'm talking about, on Monday, our Signature review was taken over part way through the day to feature an important site notice regarding ratings being given to stories. GayAuthors was dinged by Google Adsense for a story that was rated as Everyone but had content that was considered to be unacceptable on pages where Google Adsense was in use. To ensure we keep receiving revenue from Google Adsense, all authors have been asked to check their stories, especially those rated as "Everyone" or "Teen", for content and change the rating as necessary. For more information, including the content requirements for the rating scale, please check out Monday's blog post. On Friday, the blog returned to normal with the weekly Prompt Me blog post in which we were provided with two new prompts from the prompt guru comicfan. If you're in the mood to write a Halloween themed prompt response, then these prompts are definitely for you! For our featured prompt, I featured ColumbusGuy's response to Prompt #360!
