Yikes! If she can't take care of herself, how is she going to care for a little one? I agree with Pogda & Joann. If she's already this bad, the last trimester is going to be ugly. If you lived closer, I'd offer up my spare bed so you could hide for the duration. Or this will be good training for tolerance and patience in the face of extreme adversity. Best of luck. You're going to need it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. What a difficult thing to go through, especially the frustration of not being able to help. I hope your partner and little one help give you the solace you need. And I agree, having to being an adult all the time doesn't seem fair. My heart goes out to you.

Beautiful blog entry and so full of truth. After reading your blog, sitting here teary eyed, I tried to remember if I told my mom in words how much I cared, appreciated and loved her. Since I can't recall, I have to assume I didn't. I did everything I could to help my mom through her battle with lung cancer and I'm glad I was able to keep her at home and comfortable as her life ended. I have to believe that my actions and support conveyed just how much she meant to me. I do know that since her death, my family and friends are more consistent about ending coversations or visits with I love yous, hugs and kisses. I hope many peope take your message to heart and tell their loved ones how they matter in their lives. I also hope that your mom is doing fine now or at least on the road to recovery and you'll have many years to come to tell her how you feel...often.

I don't like to drink alone, it's a social thing for me and I very seldom have a drink any more. I've just made it a policy that if I'm driving I don't have anything, and I always seem to be the driver. Consequently, my tolerance for alcohol is VERY low and it doesn't take much to make my tongue too big for my mouth, my nose numb and my cheeks pink. In my younger years it was always rum & coke, although I've never tried the spiced rums that Yettie mentioned but it sounds very yummy. The other drink I was partial to was Smith & Kerns. I don't care for most wines but I've recently discovered Sutter Homes Moscato and really enjoy it but I haven't had it in almost 2 years. I do like a good beer every now and then with the right food - pizza, mexican food - and can be the exception to not drinking alone.

I'm with you all on the books but have to expand it to include online stories. Running neck to neck with reading is music. Right now I could listen to what's loaded in my iTunes for a 30 days straight and not have any repeats.
