A fantastic Chapter Mark. Loved it. Of course that could be partly the fast too.. . Nah, it was great. Full of meat and Potatoes. Now, for my thoughts on it. I'm glad Granger has company and Eastwyck will endure less hardship by being with him. Let's hope they are paroled soon. Now the horrors. Caroline can be the equivalent to a social guillotine for them both. Let's hope they find a way to stem her anger. But then there is Winkler. I think it may be best that they are leaving. I'm sure he has a knife. And something tells me his tongue can be just as sharp. Neither of them are aware that in Granger's eyes he's just as soon be with someone else. Calvert is too needy and thus high risk. I suspect it will not be such a shock. But he'll not wish either of them discomfort. They both have found enduring love. Granger will be able to see that. And I think he will be happy that he can safely extricate himself from the relationship without hurting Calvert. IF they survive what ever her Ladyship does to them. Perhaps Caroline will see a refection of her own anger in Winkler in the next chapter and regain her composure and see the light. You can't always choose who you love.

A fantastic chapter. So glad things have eased up for you and you were able to gain purchase once again on the best story ever written. Even my straight son want to read it. (Nobody's perfect) But this story is. An awesome chapter. Not sure who they should fear the most, Caroline or Winkler.

Chapter 18: Haley’s Story—The Road to Herten
ricky commented on David McLeod's story chapter in Chapter 18: Haley’s Story—The Road to Herten
Another masterpiece. I love everything about the world you've created and how you brought all these threads together. If I had one negative thing to say, it would have to be that each story is about a half a million words too short. You finish it savoring the flavor and wanting more. Piers Anthony pales next to these fantastic tales and that's saying something. These are keepers one and all and my only regret is that I didn't convert them to mp3 yet to listen to on my long travels. But rest assure, it'll be done on the second read for these are worthy of seconds, thirds and forth's. Thanks for these great gifts. -
I've wondered if the subject of Michel will come up. Surely that great act of love and compassion had to register someplace.

What a magnificent story. I must apologize for not commenting on every chapter but that would have meant having to wait while I did it for the next chapter. I just marathoned the entire thing. Absolute brilliance. Now I must read the others. If I do not see you in this life then I shall look for you in the next.

"Gone From Daylight" Returns!
ricky replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
I AM on the mailing list. And I'd stop by and comment but with 66 plus stories open I figure if I don't I might get a chapter out of you. God I love your writing. And another 6 months and billy chase will either have to fail or move on to college. Perhaps then we can see some real movement on the ones so many of us love. YOU ROCK Cosmie. But your follow through leaves us in tears. I've won't start anything new of yours anymore because I'm too old to see the last chapter. I'm slightly over half a century and I don't want to croak in the middle of a story. So I watch for the "complete" Label. And hey, its not just me. I know a certain suffer friend to both of us that is still a teenager and he feels the same way. Time to consolidate before you lose your entire fan base Cosmie. We love it when we can get it. Personally I'd like to see "A Class By Himself" get some more attention. Its only been two years but hey, its popular and you left the kid hangin'. -
"Gone From Daylight" Returns!
ricky replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
WOW! 2 chapters! In the same YEAR! I'm ON it like a Republican on O'bama care! Tell me, done anything in the last year or so on "A Class of his own"? If you have, I've missed it. Let me know ok? -
I agree. Lord St Vincent already said he would like to have him back again. I suspect that request will be favored. so daddydavek, . . . uhm what are "Go Cards"? Is that a code for some vague straight sports thing?

Regarding the prize money. Let's not forget that they had an agreement to split what they got evenly. To my recollection, that did not have the finite parameters of just while they were apart with calvert going for naval stores. If that was the case then the money they got for delivering (or selling it back) would not have been grangers but Calverts. So I'm thinking that Granger will make things a little more than normally fair going back to the officers and Calvert with some compensation not due them. After all, a deal is a deal. As for the story coming to a conclusion, Lord Arbour has already said there is a lot more history to write about and that Granger will be in it so the only question is will he be more self conscious regarding the name he picks for the next book. After all, Mutiny didn't work out nearly as well as Odessy. lol The Prince of Wales said he would take care of Granger's kids if anything happened to him. I expect that Lady Granger will get a visit from the Prince himself when word gets out that Granger has been captured. If nothing more than to reassure her that everything that can be done is being done and that her families needs are going to be met. Just the fact that he would visit her will bump her up in stature I am sure. And with the King asking her to come, I have to wonder if he is going to break the news to her. It seems the first lord has done the prep work playing, "the cats on the roof and we can't get her down" sorta scenario. (I'm sure many will not understand that reference but its an old joke. If it needs clarification let me know.) Anyways, he was rushed to let her know the current state of things. I'm thinking he was doing it before she found out another way. I'm sure his beard is still a little tender. And Suvitar, be welcome. It amazes me how many straight women love m/m sex. But there are quite a few on this site. So be welcome! So glad to have you with us.

An AWESOME Chapter Mark. I was afraid the socialite heffer was going to try and put the moves on Lord Granger. Now, has the King invited her to his chambers to break the news to her that her husband is a POW? I hope he has a royal guard nearby. You KNOW how she gets. I hope he brings back some French perfume for her. And Perhaps a bottle or twenty of fine French Wine. He HAS to give a bottle to the King and the Prince of Wales. And perhaps he can bring back a guillotine for Fox and Mann? On a side note. My screen reader must be gay too. It refuses to say Stael. It spells it like its a bad word. Gay minds think alike? OH, that's "GREAT" minds think alike isn't it. (Note the lack of a question mark there.)

WAS? Gosh, I checked the calendar, this is TWICE we agreed on something.

Sounds interesting.

I just emailed him. Perhaps we'll get lucky. I want to believe he continued and finished it already. I'm hoping that we'll get to read the rest soon. His synestesia makes him see the world in far more color that the norm and his ability to translate that color into words is truly unique. I love it. I'm listening to it again. All 169 chapters. Its awesome.

Thanks so much for that. Were there ambassadors then or were they expelled when war was declared? I mean exchanges had to be arranged, right? I remember granger delivering the spanish when spain entered the game.

Great, settle in, read and get serious. Authors really want to know your thoughts. How did it read? Did the bubble of disbelief sustain or did it drop you back to reality from the errors. Did it flow well? Where do you think or hope the story is going? These are things every author likes to know. Are they fooling you? Or is the next scene predictable? Tell them what your thoughts were when you read it. There is no right or wrong, good or bad, just what you perceived when you read it.

Suivitar, You don't have to be a chef to know if a dish is good. Keep in mind that our goal is always to be a better writer. So if you give us a review that is honest then you are doing us, as writer's a service. And you are doing the community a service because we, as writers give them a better product as we learn from the reviews. AND those that would like to do this as a living, can't get to that level without the good critique from folks like you! So thank you in advance. (But don't read mine because I'm a bit player next to the likes of Dom and Mark Arbour and Cosmie, when you can find something he's finished. So be welcome, and be unafraid.

OH CRAP! I thought I was reading a finished piece and now I see you haven't added a chapter since June. I ALWAYS fall for great stories and then find out they're not done. Look, you have a great story telling ability. You've fleshed out your characters really well. And it's difficult to write a story that isn't all Walgreens and still make it believable. But I just marathoned it so that should tell you how addicted I am already. So how about it? Cheers. r

Funny that he, himself was someone's sweet poison. Well done, message received. There is someone, for everyone. On to the next "completed" story.
-
Gawd I love your writing. And this was an incredibly sweet story. I'm on a crusade to find all your stories that I haven't read that read "complete". And this was a great find. Sorry, but like so many others I've been left hanging with an "in process" that gets left like "In a class by himself" or is it, "A class of his own." Been so long that I don't remember. Your writing is fantastic, your follow through needs a little work though. But this one! It get's an "A".

I have to firmly agree that Caroline uses her position and the fact that she is a woman to her advantage. She could get away with a lot that a man could not. Bearding Spencer publicly for one. But she knew her limits and delivered the message and was off to make him sweat bullets over how much trouble he was going to be in. I'm sure he knew his position was secure but he also knew he had some work to do to get back in their good graces and to minimize damages. At the very least he will evaluate his part in any ventures in the future a little more critically.

A fantastic chapter. I confess that Granger in Paris has relatively little appeal to me. (Sorry Mark) Little swash-buckling being done there. However, I'm elated that Winkler is back. And how perceptive Caroline was to pick up on the relationship between Jacobs and Winkler. I hope there is a little scene from that event in the next chapter. I agree that Spencer was not a big player but he was indeed a player. That was obvious in how he dealt with the situation with the good doctor. I don't see them able to unseat a Lord of the Navy easily. Perhaps a carriage accident? Then they can be done with them. Word has not reached them yet of Grangers ship being lost or the honorable yet horrible demise of Humphries. Which brings me to a question. The postal service has always had a somewhat immunity to war and aggression. I realize that the UK had a formal postal service since the 1500's and I assume that letters were passed even during times of war. Is that a correct assumption? If that were so then a letter to Caroline might reach London before Calvert. Just a thought. He also needs to make sure funds are transferred although that is not set to happen until he is returned. Somehow I rather expect him to come home with a french medal. He seems to collect them, even from those they are at war with. lol
-
Phew! Glad they made it. I was worried about them. I guess we know now what rewards will await Granger. I wondered what was left. I guess advancing his father advances him as well. Time will tell.
