Chapter Eight: Failure Sitting on a gilded Louis the XIV chair as if it were a throne Talia Balthazar watched as her servants gave Chase’s brother another taste of the whip. With each crack of the leather her face would twitch into a brief smile. Those whipping Ben were none other than mutated Talents known as Nulls. Nulls, with their immunity to all other forms of Talent were employed as the perfect assassins to kill members of the Elected. Due to how effective they wer

Chapter Four: The First Exam Near a grove of willow trees there was a flash of purple light followed by a blast of hot air. Where there had been nothing but green grass and rose bushes a second before Daniel and Andrew now stood shuddering as they clung to each other. Afraid what might happen next; they kept their eyes shielded from the bright light that surrounded them. They didn’t dare move an inch. They didn’t know where they were but they did know how much it had hurt to ge

Chapter Three: The Judicars Logan Smith… a man long forgotten by those who once knew him was a complete and total failure. His own son Lanyon despised him. Worst he had failed to save the life of Daniel’s real father Avery Winters. He failed in countless other ways, but none hurt worse than letting Avery needlessly sacrifice his life. As they flew over the drained crevasse that had been the Long Island Sound he heard Daniel gag. Rising up from the ground were clouds f

Chapter Two: Birthday Surprise Daniel was tired, so very, very tired but as his mother had not come back home he refused to let his eyes close for the night. He had done his best to clean up the apartment. It had taken him over an hour to take care of most of the mess from making his birthday cake. In the process of cleaning he had cut his fingers, palms, and wrists scooping up the shards of glass with his bare hands. If his father’s ghost was there he would tell his son to find hi

It was the 1st of November and it was his birthday. While recent birthdays had not been as good as those he used to have before his father died it was still his special day. What made it extra special was he had just lost another tooth. Tonight he woul

Many of you have asked how this series connects to the first series "The Centurion Cycle". A few of you also were not at all aware that this prelude was based on the previous Centurion Series. While the lore of the Sole Scion Series is very much based is very much based on the history and lore of the first series it will be a very much different series than the first. While reading the Centurion Series is not required to enjoy the story, reading the entire Cycle will allow you readers to unde

Chapter Thirty-Seven: Distortions in Time When Lanyon regained consciousness he found himself in bed with thick bandages over his eyes. He hurt all over. His whole body felt sunburn. At first his only thoughts was on where the hell he ended up. Then he remembered the hell he had just left. “Where am I? Where the hell is Avery? Someone, anyone talk to me.” A man in a white coat rushed to the bed. “Nurse… give the patent 5 mg of Ativan. Let’s get the patient’s heart rate down.”

Chapter Eighteen: A Son’s Duty Capitan Ryan Christopher Gains had no memories of his father, not even a photo. He not even known his name until his adoptive parents had revealed it to him. Still, he felt the connection. It had grow stronger since becoming one of the Dozens. Since meeting Karl it became one of the few things he thought about. If Karl was right, he should have been raised as one of the original Double Dozen. He was not bitter for he had found his true family. Avery was

Glad you like it so far. Will be posting all the remaining chapters in one single post sometime today. This one, as the title suggests, is nothing but a prelude to the rest of the series. It really started off as an attempt to write the back story for what will be the main series. You might be a little confused as this series is in fact is the sequel series to the Centurion Cycle. This one, the Sole Scion Cycle will be made up of fewer "Books" but will be about just as long as the nine part Centurion series. Once the final chapter of this "book" is posted today you can expect the first book of the actual series to begin to be posted sometime in the next two weeks. I am right now about two thirds of the way through the final draft of the first book and about halfway through the second draft of the second book. I have also written out part of the outline for the third book in the series. The reason why I tend to work on several of the different books in the series at the same time is so that: 1. I can work on major complex plot lines that extend throughout the series. 2. It allows me to develop a real feel for the characters to make them just as complex. 3. It stops me from trapping myself in a dead end due to poor planning that results in too many contradictions. While this is a minor prelude to the main story. Several major plot lines begin to take shape in the prelude that will extend throughout the entire series. Some of these plot lines will not be addressed in the first true book in the series but will at least give the reader some understanding of the motives behind each character. Thanks again and take care.

Chapter Five: Fake Greg grinded his teeth as he read over the latest report from his company’s intelligence division. So, Landon is finally making his move. Let’s just hope those things don’t get out of control and bite him in the ass. After reading the entire report he let out a deep sigh. Soon Greg wouldn’t have access to the vital data he had been collecting on the Master and his Chosens. Not with Landon moving in to seize his company. The takeover of SecCon was his own

Steven, had listened just outside the door, could not believe what he had just heard. It was insane. Scott was acting as if all he had to do was snap his fingers to bring fire and brimstone down upon the town. Daryl believed it though, he was even going to let it happen, something which completely baffled Steven. Part of him wanted to see how deep the two men's obvious delusion psychosis was, but then again, Daryl believed it was true. When Steven thought about it nothing that ha

He caught up with him in the kitchen. “Hey, you okay?” Andrew gazed down to the tile floor. “Yes… no… not really.” Andrew expression, which until now had showed little emotion, twisted into a frown showing how unhappy it really was. “You all seemed to have bright futures lined up but me… I have no future. Chapter Two: Reunion Aaron didn’t stay in detention for long. Whoever the member of the Elected who was pulling the strings of the committee didn’t want one of their own to be interrogated by the CIB. Aaron was however banned from the complex. Not that he ever wanted to return. His only concern was how he would get Chase to quit. If there had been a member of the Elected among those who had been in the room then it was no longer safe for his fiancé to remain as a part of the committee.

I think Otto von Bismark was the first Chancellor of a united Germany after Prussia bullied Bravaria into joining. I don't know who came after him. Whoever it was he wasn't a big poltical player. King Wilhelm pretty much stripped the post of most of its powers after he kicked Bismark out and took away all the power parliment once had.

Nothing weird this year but the weirdest thing would have to be the rainbow colored chess board. It was before I came out and while I was dealing with some religious issues. It was also not meant as a sign of support but more of a snide jab in the ribs so I wasn't really happy about it.
