Half awakened by the sounds of whispering Daryl jolted his eyes open when he felt several pairs of hands lift him off the bed and transfer him to a gurney. "He's awake," An unfamiliar voice said before one that Daryl had longed to hear spoke. "Don't make a sound Daryl, we're trying to rescue you," Steven or Patrick said; Daryl did not know which. If his mind was clear of fog he would have guessed Patrick. Holding back the pain caused from

The fact that the captain of the queens' guard didn't help Jason sooner does become an issue later on. Right no all Jason can think about is how everyone he once known is now dead. It would be very hard for anyone, esp. Jason to adjust his life to his new reality. It is only when he is older that he has the time to think about what happened before Philip saved him.

My older brother and I have never gotten along. We haven't talk to each other six years. He's dyslexic and I'm not. You have no idea how much bad blood that has created between us. It is very difficult to deal with a 40 year old man who still acts like he has to compete against me as if we are still in elementry school. Not going to get into the details or how it was justified but his resentment of me evetually got to the point where I would sometimes come home to find out the rest of the family left town without telling me. What can I say, parents pretty much gave him whatever he wanted out of pity after he failed two grades. He almost didn't graduate from high school and in the end I ended up graduating from college two years before him. He wouldn't even tolerate me sitting in the same room with him which was usually the same room where the rest of the family was. When it came time for me to decide what colleges I should go to I was stupid enough to listen to his advice on where to apply. When I later told him I got accepted to all of them he stormed out and slammed the door in my face and would not talk to me again until I agree not to go to any of them. It came out that the only reason he had me apply to those schools was so he could feel better about himself if I didn't get in. He finally did act on his threat not to speak to me every again because I finally couldn't stand it anymore and exploded and told him exactly how I felt about the way he had been treating me my whole life. That was something I had never let out before. He had the nerve to play the victim and of course everyone sided with him. That's my brother. My mom is a passive agressive pain in the ass (PAPA) with selective memory. She means well but she really knows how to hold a grudge.... like forever. My dad is a ruthless egomanic who cuts everyone down in order to cling onto the idea that we are very much his inferior. When I told him what books I was reading in first grade he told me that wasn't good enough because he was reading Treasure Island and stuff my age.... turned out they were all comic books lol. I still can't beleive he felt the need to compete against a six year old child. My younger brother is alright. He's dyslexic too. There was not as much bad blood between him and me mainly because I was told I was not to be in anyway involved in his life because my parents were afraid I would have a negative impact on his self-esteem . I was pretty much made the family monster for no other reason than doing what I was told to do and succeeding at it. When we got older my younger brother and I sort of reconnected and he is pretty much the only member of my family I get along with. Visited him this summer and will see him again next summer during a very awkward family reunion. It will be very difficult eating with my family while my older brother pretends I don't exist. It is for that very reason I try to avoid all family fuctions and moved as far away from them as I could get. I hate that I still care about them and it is no wonder I'm messed up in the head. It would be a lot less painful if I could just tell them they could go screw themselves and never deal with them ever again but I guess I will always cling to the futile hope that one day things will be different regardless of knowing they never will. As for this holiday I'm going to make a dozen pecan pies and give them away to friends and spend time with them which should be good but it is still a very depressing part of the year for me.

"So he's not offering us anything," Thomas sighed as he talked to Jacob during another one of their meetings. "Only to put my mom into a home... which wouldn't be a bad idea but I don't want to sell anymore... not if Chris's main purpose is revenge." "Well from what the judge has told me, a little paint and yard work is not going to cut it. He wants to see some real repairs if he's going to give us a stay to the court order." "Like what?" "Getting the ho

Thanks, glad you like it so far. As you will see things aren't quite what they appear to be as the twins will find out as they get to know Daryl better.

At eight o'clock that night, the group caravanned to the airport. Ever since leaving the shooting range, Alex was always within arm’s reach of Daryl, Patrick observed. Something had happened between the two men but neither was willing to talk about it. As for his brother, it was quite a while before the wide eyed look left his face. After all six cars had parked at the private airstrip, Alex left Daryl's side for the first time in hours to make sure his men had the place co

Thanks for the review. Jacob did not so much quit his job as abandon it. Remember he ran off the same day he learned about Darren and Will. As for Jacob's mother she does have a small income from her husband's social security survivor benefits but it wouldn't be enough to pay for both her food and other necessities like doctor visits and the utility bills in such a large house. She could have applied for other benefits such as food stamps but the value of the land the mansion is on is too large an asset for her to get those kind of benefits so she is pretty much dependent on her kids for almost everything.

Includes some Spoilers I never suggested she had wrecked her career. What I did say is that whatever studio she had sold the options to the movie rights to will probably never made into a trilogy, which happens all the time for a whole slew of reasons. In her case however the issue is not the result of budget limits or the lack of interest but by how much damage the third book did to the series as a whole. I do not mean how bad a movie based on the third book would end up being but because the toxic effect of the third book has destroyed the credibility of the entire series I've always known this is her first series. I also have a good idea what she orginally intended for Triss to be. She was to be this uberhuman like figure who makes the ultimate Christ like sacrifice. It was her way of going about it that I felt was so horrible and down right immature. Believe me, I've run into the problem of writing myself into a corner more than a few times in the past when that happens however I tend to start over rather than try to "jump the shark" to work my way around it,. Unlike her I also don't have millions of fans to worry about to disappoint I hope she has learned from the experience. She did a very very very poor job with the third book but the weakness in her writing and her complete lack of showing character development was already becoming an issue with the second. To use an analogy it was if she was writing a TV sticom like Seinfeld where the characters remain exactly the same throughout each episode. With the first book that was okay, you were just getting introduced to the characters. In the second book when the same characters keep on getting into the same fights or making the same mistake over and over again it starts to get on your nerves. That the third book ends with the characters still acting int he same childish way as they had since the beginning as if they haven't learned anything is either due to a lack of ideas or just plain bad writing. I do not know if it was due to meeting a deadline or that is what she thought was the best she could do. As I've said many times before I had no problem with what happens to each of the characters by the end of the book. Many people have complained about the shocking ending. While she says that was never her intention to shock or upset people, let alone how protective she was of the main character I beleive that is a complete and total lie. The only way what she claims could be true is if she wrote the last couple of chapters before writing anything else and in order to meet the required word count filled up the rest of the book with random little mini stories that do nothing towards advancing the plot to its conclusion just to cut and paste the last chapters at the very end. That's how it reads, a bunch of pointless one chapter plots with an ending coming from so far left field that it is shocking because it takes what one assumed to be the main message about the need to trust those you care about to suddenly change it at the last moment to make it all about the ultimate self-sacrifice in a way that leaves the message of trust of never having meant to be taken seriously in the first place. It's made worse by how Triss decides to make that sacrifice, which she shows no desire to make in the book, but out of a knee jerk last minute impulsiveness which makes her actions a noble sacrifice but rather the act of a reckless immaturity teenager that renders the nobility of the sacrifice she makes just as meaningless. That is why it is so shocking and why I at least take issue with it.To use another analogy the ending has the flow and logic of a bunch of random MacGyver epsiodos that suddenly ends with with everyone dying in 9/11 with about as good a transition if someone in editing had spliced the two flims together. It not the ending itself which lacks any value, it is how illogical it is given the characters she created. I beleive she knew what she was doing and wanted it to be as shocking as possible. She was trying to present herself as the bold daring writer who would not let anything get in the way of the story she wanted to tell. It just a shame that in this case it was the story itself that stood in the way of the ending she wanted. While somethings I see her having a chance to improve such as plot development on others such as her disassocitation between the story in her head and the one she ends up writing have more to do with personaility and her view of herself as a writer. You can't teach a writer how to show respect for their readers. A writer can write whatever they want but that does not mean one can demand that the readers respect and appriecate a series or a write that they feel betrayed by and expect to remain a top sellig author. You also can't teach someone how to view the world which they are trying to create. The world and characters she creates are more akin to a still photograph, they can be quite beautiful and artistic as a single picture but it takes more than one to create an art show to tell a complete story. Starting a trilogy is a daunting task, espeically if it is your first major work. For her own sake I think it would be best to focus her efforts on single book novals. Right now multibook series are in vouge and in great demand by publishers but I do not think she should go straight from the Divergent Series into starting another multibook one. She just doesn't have the ability at this moment to be very good at it. Single book novels are harder to get published these days but it would allow her to focus putting everything into that single book which unlike her trillogy the larger world and time period she was trying to create proved to be too much for her to substain or truely develop.

Jacob never thought he would go back home. He had too many bad memories of the place. Not just because of all the times he got beaten up, but also during the last two years in high school, the family fortunes fell apart with the collapse of the real estate market. The market had rebounded, but Jacob's parents never recovered. It was only due to taking large student loans that he and his sister had been able to stay in school. Jacob's father tried to get a new job, but the depression and stre

Just finished the last book in the Divergent Series... and it sucks. Its not just how bad the ending is (which I won't spoil) but the thing reads like a jigsaw puzzle put together with the wrong peices that were forced together. Its repetive and there is no real character development. The main character remains as impulsive as ever, her boyfreind get just as mad at her as he always has. You would execpt the charcters to have matured a little by the last book but if anything they are more childish than ever. The plot is horrible. It starts off alright but then goes down hill from there. You would expect such a series to reach some sort of ultimate climax but there is no real build up and the whole thing feels rushed. It is as if she couldn't make up her mind which direction she wanted to go with one chapter going in one direction only to drop the storyline completely and go in a different direction the very next chapter. The ending is the worse I've ever read in a trilogy. It is as if Roth was intentionally trying to get her readers angry with her for no other reason to than to upset them. It ends in a way that neither advances the story and character development or show off her skill as a writer. It is as if someone dared her to do something and implusively goes through with it at the very last moment in a very sloppy manner. If she wanted to end the story the way she did she should have written the story so it would make sense but as I said, the whole plot is a mess. I do not know why her publisher even agreed to print such trash because if you read the Amazon reviews she has greatly damanged her career. She had already sold the movie rights to the series but I can't see any studio wanting to use the storyline of the third book to do a movie trilogy. Many people don't mind tragic endings... I can live with them, but there has to be some point to them. There is no point to how this book ends. If the writing had been in anyways good and the ending not so meaningless I wouldn't have minded. The whole pointlessness of it and the half ass way she went about it makes Allegient unacceptable. If you've read the first two books of the Divergent series STOP there. Stopping with the second book will leave you with a far more satisfying and enjoyable ending then what you will end up getting with the last book. You have been warned. If you are looking for something similar and I consider actually better I recommend the "Pure" series by Julianna Baggott. It also takes place in a dysotpia setting but with better character development, better writing, and has a firm progressing storyline that the writer sticks to. The first two books are out; "Pure"and "Fuse". I just hope the third book doesn't end up as trashy as the end of Roth's trilogy.

Back in the car, the twins heard Daryl let out a deep moan. "What has Brian done?" "I take it that those three were members of your church?" Patrick guessed. "If they were... they sure didn't act like any Blessed I have ever known." "They sure did to me," Steven grunted as he put the car into reverse. "Cold, stoic, robots." "Exactly... which is almost the opposite of how the people in New Hope really act." "I don't

One of the main themes is about trying to figure out what one wants and how many times what we think we want is not always what one should want.

It was 11:00 at night and both Tara and Jacob were up; Tara because she was mad at Darren, Jacob because his sister would not let him go to bed. "Come on sis, I have an early day tomorrow," Jacob whined for the twentieth time as Tara paced around the room. "Yes, and it will be all Darren's fault if you don't get any sleep." "I don't see why. You are the only one keeping me away from my soft comfy bed." "Are you not worried about Darren?" "No."
-
"You were amazing," Steven cooed as he ran a hand up and down the length of Daryl's body, rubbing in the sweat and released cum of their passions. "It's been so long... I almost let myself forget what it felt like," Daryl said, his voice exhausted but at ease. "Enjoying yourself Patrick?" Steven asked, looking down to where his brother was still busy sucking on Daryl's cock. "I'm almost done," Patrick replied. "You're not going to

Jacob has a need to feel wanted which is why he is so clingy. He has been hurt so badly in the past that he will go after anyone whom he feels won't reject him. He is also very emotionally dependent on his sister and he doesn't like that about himself. Instead of growing a sense of independence he is trying to find someone whom he can depend on to be there for him that won't leave him feeling like the immature younger brother his sister sees him as. There will have to be a reckoning between him and his sister eventually but I won't say how that will turn out. Darren is also a bit immature. He's like a kid in a candy store. He is trying to figure out what sort of person he really is now that he has admitted his physical and emotion attraction towards the same sex. In that sense he is also clingy. He had always seen himself marrying a woman and having kids. While he always knew he had a physical attraction towards men until now he had never acted on it. It's like graduating from high school and trying to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life. Right now he's clueless. Just like any young adult he will eventually find his footing had decide what sort of relationship he wants to share with a person he loves. Will is in a horrible unenviable position. He doesn't remember the moment when Darren calls of the wedding and decides to run off with him. I doubt he ever will. Even so it will not be easy for him to watch as others move on to new and different relationships while he knows whatever chance he might have had with Darren is probably gone for good. If you think how you would feel in that kind of situation you can probably guess how he is eventually going to feel. He had after all had refused to enter a real relationship with anyone believe the only relationship that could ever make him happy was with Darren. We'll have to see how he deals with the situation and I can't promise its going to be pretty. In this series as well as its separate companion series The Watch, not all relationships work out. This will be especially true in this one as the characters become involved in any relationship they feel can make them feel whole. Right now Darren's with Jacob but I can't promise that will always be the case. Each character is searching for something. The villain is not really any one person but their own uncertainty of what they really want in life that is their enemy.

Glad you like how things are brewing. Darren really isn't sure what he wants. He loves Will but everything he has gone through has happened very fast for him. From finally admitting to himself he is really bisexual and Will admitting how he really feels about only for them both to end up in the car wreck is more than he can really handle. He has committed himself to take care of Will for the rest of his life which he is glad to do but has also left him feeling very hopeless. Right now he is looking for stability in his life and that is what he thinks Jacob could offer him. Remember the main theme of the story is whether or not a life long friendship can switch in a blink in an eye into something more. There is no guarantee that they will succeed at it. As for Jacob... yes he is very immature. Just being a doctor doesn't really mean anything on whether one is or is not. I've known a lot of doctors who act very childish and egoistical just as you wold find in real life in any profession. Jacob's immaturity but that is very much due to the tragic events from his past. As a result he is very insecure and yes, clingy. You just have to look at his relationship with his sister Tara to know how dependent he is on others for emotional support. That is one of the things that has drawn Darren to him. Darren knows how to help Jacob and he loves feeling needed. It is a relationship he knows he can deal with and not feel like a failure. With Will however he knows how needed he is but he doesn't know how he can "FIX" Will so everything will go back to the way things were before. The fact of the matter is that things can't go back to how they were before the accident and he knows it. In many ways Darren too is acting immature but not in the same sense Jacob is. Since he has very much given up on ever having the sort of relationship he and Will might, for a short time, have wanted Darren is afraid of ending up taking care of Will with no one willing to help take care of him. That is another reason why he has settled on Jacob. Darren feels that Jacob is the only person he could love who would not run away from him having to take of Will. That doesn't mean all three of them will ride off into the sunset with each other. Even though they are all adults all three of them have a lot of growing up to do. Both Will and Darren will have to figure out what sort of relationship they will have while Jacob will need to finally deal with a terrible part of his past.

Jacob was able to hold himself together until they reached the car where he broke down into deep sobs. Tara wrapped her arms around her brother and rocked him. She had tears in her eyes as well. What had happened was exactly what she had hoped for; but it was still sad to witness. Once Jacob had settled down she drove them home where she gave Jacob one last piece of advice, "Now go to Darren, say you're sorry, and tell him what happened between you and Will." Jacob felt emotionally exhaust

I am so sick of these political games. The greatest mistake our poltical system have ever made was the switch to picking our canidates throught the insane primary system rather than by party leaders. Since most normal Amricans don't take part in it let alone know the date the primary takes place we have the crazies of the crazies picking the most virulent, its my way or the highway a-hole. I hate to say it but I wish we could go back to the days when our leaders were pick in the back room. Back then the parties picked the one who they thought would get the most votes from the American people regardless of party. (Remember Eisenhower) These days we're stuck with the Ted Cruz's* of the world because Tea Partiers care more about their leaders never compromising their stupid princples that only the few people who vote in the primaries care about than having Congress actually do their job instead of making themselves look pretty so they can be on TV. *I don't think there is any other place in the world but America that a major party would choose someone as insane and vicious as that Senator from Texas as their canidate. I don't think there is any other state where a guy like Cruz could get elected other than Texas. (No democrate has won a state wide election since 93 becasue a lot of voters don't care who gets picked in the primary theyll vote for them so long as they're of the same party. (That's the only reason why my old home state has been under the reign of King Perry for over a decade.) The primary system and poltical party gerrymandering has gotten so bad that it makes voting for members of Congress in the general election a complete farce. The whole things rigged so that there is no chance in hell for the other canidate to win. (I had to do reasearch on polling data and voting statistics which has advanced to the point that the data will tell you how many republican or democrates live on your block) At this point I would rather have a complete free-for-all on election day followed by a runoff than this primary bs.. Sorry for the rant and your grandmother. Hopefully the agency will be understanding and give you more time given the situtation. Of course it will depend on the sort of case worker who has your grandmother's file. Some are willing to be flexable others are the sadistic sort when it comes to doing things by the book, but that's bureaucracy for you.

You could have a world that after a terrible war is divided between a techonoically advanced elitist society and the rest of the world which has degenerate to a mid medieval level of technology. That would fit the Sci-fi, medieval, and dystopia settings.

Since it doesn't seem like there will be genera that will end up with 50% of the vote, wouldn't it be a good idea for there to be a run-off of the top 2-3. The way it is now you could end up with one that less than 20% support.

I'm in. Don't know if I want to be a hero or villain. It would depend on the setting. Right now I'm tempted to do an "Looking out for #1" amoral character who can be both a hero and a villain based on what's gets him closer to his goal. The tricky part will be completely focused on the goal. For example... if someone is in jail and they want to get him out he would only help them if he gets him closer to his goal... ie magic sword, treasure, spaceship, back to his home world but he won't give a damn if he's not getting something out of it that reaches that goal... sort of a Hero/Villain hybrid. Would that be too difficult to pull off with whatever rules that are set?"

Chapter Thirty-Three: Blood Vines
JMH commented on JMH's story chapter in Chapter Thirty-Three: Blood Vines
Yes it does have a lot of info. It is also one of the key chapters that some of the plot of the second 'book' is built on. The main point to focus on is how the relationship between Ryan, Greg, and Landon has changed.
