  1. Why would you assume Darius would have anything to do with Muslims? 60% of Iranian immigrants in the U.S. are not Muslim and in the time frame that Darius was born, immediately after the revolution, the largest number of immigrants were the persecuted religions of Judaism, the Baha'i, Zoroastrians and Christianity. Even the supporters of the Shah who fled were most likely secularists, not religious adherents of any sect.
  2. Interesting. When I first met Boo Boo he was 11 and doing work for Disney then had a key role in The Conrad Boys where he was one of the two Conrad boys. It is a halfway decent gay flick.
  3. California is a bit bigger than Delaware. Different districts did different things. A lot did not close because parents wouldn't known what to do with their kids since there are so many working parents. Some schools cancelled athletics, some didn't. I actually refereed a water polo game that day and was grateful for the distraction so I didn't have to be at the house glued to a TV set. It also led to some really interesting conversations with the high school guys about what that day would mean. I know my parents opera was cancelled that day. All the studios were closed as were the theme parks since they were all considered potential targets and the tall buildings in LA & SF were closed too as potential targets.
  4. To expound upon a thought I had and mentioned in the reviews. One thing that bugged me in the chapter and has always bugged me about 'mo's who are out, open and such is that they forget not everyone is. What if Steve were Kai's uncle or cousin and had no idea Kai had fooled around with guys? Will's, "by safe he means condoms" comment could have outed Kai to someone and Will has no idea what effect that could have on Kai's life. It was a very thoughtless comment. In the same vein, something I've mentioned before, is that I've been out to eat with gay friends and we've a stunningly cute bus boy or waiter and one of the guys will ask someone else, another bus boy or waiter, "is XYZ gay?" If XYZ IS gay, it is almost like outing him in the restaurant and what if he didn't want to be outed? Couldn't be? And what if he isn't? It plants seeds in the restaurant that could impact the guy and all my idiot friend is thinking about is getting noodle wet and zero about what impact his words could have on the guy. (these are the same friends who can't put down the iPhone for an hour and keep checking grindr and jack'd the whole time we are eating) I do think Kai is hustling and I think it is out of necessity and we'll find out why shortly. I can't see Will as a professor. I think the job is too structured and confining for him. If he goes into marine biology I can see him doing independent research in the South Pacific on atolls that just happen to have great surf too. I had a good friend do that for three years in Rarotonga and then he moved onto Fiji. It was all funded by a foundation and Will could fund his own foundation. But I see that as even temporary. I think Will enjoys challenges and eventually will get involved in one of the family businesses. Anders Hayes may be a smaller capitalization than Stef & Brad's company, but it has far more employees. The real estate and investment company probably has less than 100 people, maybe less than 50. The defense company isn't a family business and eventually Brad will hire someone to run that, especially after 9-11. So I can see Will being pulled to the investment side more than the entertainment side. Darius I can see enjoying the social asspects of the entertainment biz.
  5. Tony must die! What the heck is "Persian" looking? LA is full of Persians and they don't look all that different from the Armenians, Southern Italians, Mexicans, Spanish, a bunch of South Americans and the rest of the Middle East and he is only 1/2 Persian to begin with.

    Chapter 20

No one has forgotten that Stef was a hustler on the streets of Paris. That was the whole subtext of Will saying he was going to call JP so JP could point out the hypocrisy to Stef, but the mere threat of calling JP was enough to get the message to Stef. I suspect that Kai's hustling is out of necessity much like Stef's was and that that has to do with why he is busy 6PM-11PM. One thing that bugged me and has always bugged me about 'mo's who are out, open and such is that they forget not everyone is. What if Steve were Kai's uncle or cousin and had no idea Kai had fooled around with guys? Will's, "by safe he means condoms" comment could have outed Kai to someone and Will has no idea what effect that could have on Kai's life. It was a very thoughtless comment. I do hope we get to see when Kai comes back and don't skip ahead. Fie on the Will haters, I love his exploits and misadventures.
  7. Still looking for the right pics, but Hawaiian/Pacific Motif would furniture of light woods, koa & teak vs daker woods and light colors, whites, light blues, earth tones. I hate going in the faux elegant Versailles look in HI and overly ornate. It goes against the simple outlook of Hawaiian culture and life. It is also one reason I hate the Trump Waikiki. It feels like an NYC hotel. If you look at the pictures of the suites of the Four Seasons Hualala'i or Wailea or Halekulani Hotel, you get an idea of what I am talking about. I am not talking about fish nets and tiki's like La Mariana Sailing Club in Honolulu, it is only cool because it is one of the last, kitshcy tiki bars, but kitschy it is.
  8. I don't think it was a minor "ah-ha" moment for Will, I thought it was a monumental insight for him and I don't think Will blew it off as it crossed his mind during his encounter at the party. I think it is interesting that a fewer people self identify as bi than they do as gay, you'd think it would be the other way around. I do think in LA gay cutlure it is very "uncool" to be bi. Guys who identify as bi either get grief upfront from their gay friends or get talked about when they leave. It seems a lot of gay men just can not concieve how anyone who likes guys could like women too.

    Chapter 19

Geeze I spent half the damn day on the 4th looking for a new chapter because that is so your pattern and the minute I stop looking you post one! A very cool chapter nonetheless and nice for Will to get a perspective on why there is more to being "the other woman" than meets the eye. Also nice that he got some perspective on Ryan and John. With Ryan it might be a case of not wanting to fool around with Will because he'd be cheating on Shiloh, or maybe he was done with his experimentation. John is a different matter. I was hoping for a hot sex scene in Maui where John and Will bonded more and put the family drama behind them. I am of two schools of thought on the John-Will thing. One is they had much more than young teen experimentation thing going on and I could get if John was over the experimenting and completely straight, but the second school of thought is that I can't imagine any horny young teen passing up the opportunity for no risk fun. By no risk I mean, you know you can have your cake and eat it too. John can enjoy the physical part with Will and not worry about Will freaking out later. A lot of young guys would like to fool around more, but don't because of the fear of exposure and being labeled, or don't make the attempt because of fear of rejection and exposure. With Will neither of those is an issue. John could have his cake and eat it. I also really liked the perspective on the house in Maui, that maybe there were more underlying reasons. A lot for Will to chew on. I hope we get to see the return trip to Maui Thanks Mark for all the work!
  10. How any one can be mad about anything for more than five minutes on Maui is beyond me. I think the Will & Scott hooking up thing has been laid to rest because what ever intrigue or attraction there was for Will about Scott was dispatched when Will saw what a major douche Scott is. I hope Stef can do a Hawaiian/Pacific motif. There is nothing more annoying than a house in Hawaii that looks like a NY penthouse or Versailles. Still a lot of set-up going on. At some point things will come to a head in Palo Alto and John has to deal with Will and the issues between them. Brad didn't admit, but the Sprecklesville house is probably worth twice what Will paid for it because it is unfinished.
  11. No, Chapter 18 - Lahainaluna. <media> Given we are in West Maui, Kai probably goes to Lahainaluna, the oldest boarding school west of the Rockies having been founded in 1831. Most students are not boarded these days, but still have two dorms for kids from the outer islands.

    Chapter 18

CAP is like Christmas. You look forward to it, anticipate it and then it happens, you are thrilled, but then all too soon it is over and you feel that little depression set in knowing you have to wait for it to come around again. Luckily the wait isn't 365 days, just a week or so, but the roller coaster ride of emotions is the same. Scott really in an ass wipe..... I hope a board smacks him in the face. Nice that Kai and Will got on an even keel, but I don't think there was much doubt they would.
  13. Because the author needs her to.

    Chapter 17

I love it when you are on break and can pop out chapters quickly. I hate it when you are on break and can pop out chapters quickly and in the middle of work day that it distracts me so badly I can't go back to work until I've read it. Spreckelsville, where Will's new home likely is, is the home of a lot of wealth and money that makes the money in Kapalua look embarrassingly nouveau. In the 1880's it was the site of Claus Spreckels sugar plantation as he controlled huge chunks of land in Hawaii. Today it is still a site of big money, there are two 3 bedroom places for sale for $10.5 and $9.5 million respectively. $3 million a bedroom is NYC prices..... Love, love, love the drama. So nice to see Brad release some pent up frustration. Will this be the event that makes Claire wake up and reevalute her behavior? Jack seems to growing weary of the situation too and he gets where the problems are. I'd love to be a fly in the wall in Jack & Claire's bedroom tonight.
  15. I could be wrong, but I assume you have a rough idea of where the story is going, both 9-11 and CAP in general. If Will sleeping with Scott helped get the story to where it is going, then it would be okay. But if not it just becomes gratuitious and a distraction from the from the story. I think Brad's reaction would be to kill Scott if he found them in the act. For Scott to sleep with the 14 year old son or daughter of someone from high school that he had sex with would be beyond creepy, it would be pathological.
  16. JP shouldn't have to do anything. I am shocked that Claire & Isidore have not come to their senses and in the cold light of day reflcted on their behaviors and seen how badly they have treated a family member and a young one to boot. Claire especially (with Jack's help) now that she sees that Marie has lied to her and mislead her should have had an epiphany. But then I guess that would be too easy. I don't read anything into Will buying a Maui house other than he wants to be close to the best surfing he can and he can afford it. In a bit of poetic liscense Mr. Arbour has swells at Ho'okipa in the summer, but it is really a winter break. The better surf in summer will actually be at Honolua Bay right next to the Kapalua condo. Will and Scott is just too creepy to think about, not because of the age difference but because of the relationship between Scott and Brad. It would be wrong on so many levels to have sex with a friend from high school's son or daughter.

    Chapter 16

Wow, so disappointing.... probably the most unrealistic chapter in CAP history...... Dewd, no local on Maui owns a tie unless they work the front desk at the Four Seasons! Ok.... feel better now I do find it disappointing that Isidore and Claire haven't spoken to Will yet. I get that it is only two weeks in CAP time (six weeks in real time), but I figured both would realize what complete Massengills they were being by now. That they have not is disappointing, maybe beyond disappoining. I can't imagine my grandmother being like that, nor my mother. I am still looking forward to Will and Kai hooking up

    Chapter 15

Happy Father's Day Mark, thanks for posting Fun chapter. It was good to see Brad giving Will a glimpse into his and Robbie's life. For all intents and purposes, Robbie is one of Will parents and most 14 year olds don't talk to one of their parents about stuff like this. Kai sounds like fun, I am sure he and Will will wind up being friends along the same line as Will and Ryan were. We remember what a rocky start their friendship got off to. Interesting insights into Brad and Maman's relationship too. While the last chapter was fun and light and just a rollicking good time, this chapter opens several storlines for drama.
  19. Geeze, are those what pass for butch in DL? Here is CA butch.
  20. I see Mason more like Billy Unger. And here is Mason when he visits Will in the 'Bu.
  21. Well you are the author so you better than anyone should know, but I don't believe he has really strong feelings for Will, I think he THINKS he has really strong feelings for Will, but no one who has really strong feelings for someone would have treated Will the way he did the last few days they were together. You invite someone to visit you, you don't blow them off so badly. I guess I am confused why you are mad at Will, maybe you didn't read the passage correctly. I don't think Mason was looking to have Will tell him he was gay, it was more of a rhetorical statement by Mason, it wasn't really a question and as Will mused, "he'd already figured it out". And the Will didn't say, "yes, you most definitely are", he said, "yeah, pretty much" a fairly non-commital statement. Mason isn't confused about his sexual orientation and never really was. He'd already bottomed before, Rachel was his attempt at conformity, but it wasn't really him all along as Will acknowledged when he thought, "although I think he'd already figured that out." I like Mason because he seems genuine and hope he gets to stay that way.

    Chapter 14

Ha ha, I so knew you were going to post a chapter before the Stanley Cup Finals came on! That is my favorite chapter in a long time. Will was making love with Mason not just having sex. Please leave Mason a nice guy. He seems like just your sweet Midwestern guy without the kind of baggage that a Tony has or even Gathan.
  23. Unfortunately I don't see Tony dying anytime soon either. But the only thing that pulls Will back to Tony is great sex and he can find great sex other places. So far I haven't seen anything redeeming about Tony's character. Despite being at Stanford he doesn't seem like an intellectual giant, or motivated to great things. Will and Tony might stay fuck buddies, but I don't see Tony ever catching up to Will emotionally or intellectually. My experience, my observation, you don't go back to a places you've been before*. Ten years from now Will will wonder what he ever saw in Tony (unless Mr. Arbour is too chintzy to create a new character). I still see Will with someone more like JP (Alistair or Mason like), someone more cerebral and committed. I think it still is not too late for a tragic drowning (or not so tragic from my viewpoint). I was thinking Tony had made an inch of progress last chapter, but I think this chapter confirms and expands something I said last chapter; that dropping Dana wasn't about Tony's committment to Will, it was about the fear that Will and Rick would hook up on the trip and now even worse, it was that and Tony's own wanting to hook up with Rick on the trip. Dana, who no one liked anyway, was going to be in the way of that. Dana will figure out sooner or later that it is because Rick and Will are better pieces of ass than she is. *I am applying this epsecially to freshman in high school. Very few wind up with their 9th grade love.

    Chapter 13

Great chapter as usual, loved the Mason detour, that was sweet... Carmine not so sweet, just sex.... it could have been a hallowed out pine cone for all Carmine cared. Still not too late for a tragic drowning, or not so tragic from my viewpoint. I thought Tony had made an inch of progress, but I think it confirms and expands what I said last chapter. Dropping Dana wasn't about Tony's committment to Will, it was about the fear that Will and Rick would hook up and now worse, it was that and HIS wanting to hook up with Rick on the trip and Daan was going to be in the way. Still waiting for the Dana shoe to drop...... hope people keep their doors locked
  25. I think for Tony, the idea that Will would wind up hooking up with Rick (based on what Tony already knew about Rick) drove him more to dump Dana then and there than having any sudden epiphany about who he wanted to be with Dana or Will. I really hope Will and Mason hook up; love those little guys hung like bulls. I knew a 103 pound wrestler once and he had to have 60 pounds of d*ck, it was totally hot. I wish Will would drag Tony off to Hawaii, but that isn't going to happen because we have to have drama and confrontation in MO where all the players are.
