  1. Do you know that Underthehoodster has been adding new side-stories about Perry & Jessy? Check them out.
  2. I 'run' a yahoo group Aurora Roundtable (http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/Aurora_Roundtable/)that John was happy to have set up but then prefered to continue his one-to-one correspondence. It is not a very active group but the posts already there may interest you. It does have a list of all his books & stories and where they are posted. John's editor is a very knowledgeable and active group member who will likely be happy to give you info, feedback, answers, etc. John Ellison died in July of lung cancer which he had first told us (his readers) about 6 months before. dalmania
  3. Chapter 7 of Attack & Response has finally come out on Nifty - High School on July 3rd (2009). The Kombat Kids have some action. This KK2 story is co-written by Jamie Haze and GhostRyder15. The preface to the chapter tells that one of them (not clear who) had multiple heart attacks over the past year or so and therefore there have been no chapters since Jan 2008. Hopefully the author(s) will stay well and more chapters will arrive. dalmania
  4. I find the the portrayal of Josh in HTLGI shows a much more "wounded" individual than he seemed in EW. Is it because Josh will be a significant individual in this sequel as opposed to just a "love interest" for Scott? But so far, Josh is still described in the context of his relationship with Scott - not very different from EW. Josh's fragility just doesn't match the functional person I saw in EW. What do others think,eh?
  5. It is posted. Check out chapter 27 - way to go Tiffani -
  6. IT IS UP - chapter 26 - in blue & grey. Good one Tiffani --- Life continues...read chapter 26 and see what Crew, Hiro, Storm, Skyler, Zeke, and the others are doing. Tiffani expects more chapters to be posted soon. So catch up soon on the world of those Jumping over my Mountain... http://members.gayauthors.org/tiffanichin/mountain26.php Frances
  7. Graeme I notice all the birthday messages you post. The numbers of posts must add up quickly. Are you taking advantage of CJ being away to compete on number of posts? I don't think one message a day will work for you if you intend to take CJ on for busiest post-er. On the other hand, for me, this rounds out my number of posts to 50! Well worth an effort even with little to say or add to the world.
  8. Well this mesage got posted twice so I edited it and will just say I got to the less memorable post number 51 without meaning to. Oh well..
  9. Almost Normal is a short story by Jason Carter found in RCWP - Rainbow Community Writing Project The author does a great job describing a 14-year-old boy's thoughts of, and reactions to, his growing attraction for a classmate. The story is: well written; lighthearted; upbeat; & humourous. I bet you will enjoy it.
  10. The first chapter of a sequel to Kombat Kids is out today. It is called Attack & Response It is not yet on GhostRyder's GA site (well as of 5 minutes or so ago) but I found it on Nifty - In the High School folder
  11. Chapter 52 is out. I haven't actually read it but of course it is going to be excellent.
  12. Ghostrider are you around these days? Actually, his profile says the last time he was here was December. Has anyone else been in contact with him lately? I had written something for him last summer and we had been exchanging emails, but since the fall, I have heard nothing. Have either of the two people writing sequels with Floyd - J & J go to University or the other one with another gay teens group - had news lately? Frances

    Diabetes

Diabetes Type 2 cannot turn into type 1. Type 1 happens when the body's defence(immune) system attacks and kills all the pancreatic cells that produce insulin. Insulin is essential so that the body can use the energy we eat. So for Type 1, injections are essential for life. Type 2 diabetes is when the body makes less (but there is always some) insulin but the second and usually the biggest change is often that the body cells do not let the insulin transfer the sugar out of the blood and into the muscles and other cells as quickly as before (called insulin resistance). All adults have less insulin over time and our cells don't let the insulin move the sugar. So with diabetes these changes are already exagerated and with time these changes progress whether or not you already have diabetes. Even if you have a "perfect" diet and exercise everyday, the body has changed and most people need oral medicine to help keep blood sugar normal. But due to ongoing changes over time, a diabetic ( type 2) may need more (amount or kinds) medicine to keep blood sugar normal. Insulin is just one more option. In itself, insulin does not mean you have more severe diabetes nor do you become type1. Both diabetes affect the body's ability to use sugar but they are not on one continum of severity. frances
  14. Well I haven't had to analysis or explain a poem since I was in CEGEP - a long time ago. So, don't expect me to try and interpret now. I am pretty sure there are no "Luc" Coles' Notes out yet. In the poem you are able to portray an intensity of mood that I would think is very difficult to get down on paper just using words. Even though I don't necessarily understand exactly what you mean ( loss by death or separation??), the emotion of the piece jumps off the page. I figure that means you are a good poet. Your poetry is intriguing enough that I make an effort to read all of your work. I also like that words often rhyme. Now how deep is that! Frances
  15. The RCWP site usually published stories that have already been published elsewhere. I wrote to the author of one story that I found quite creative and asked him if he had already published this particular story elsewhere, as I was keen to find out what happens. A couple of weeks later, he wrote back saying he could not decide whether to "ignore your ass" or "flame you". His reply was 1. Why should he tell me about other sites? Why should he be forced to tell me any info? and 2. How dare I think myself so special that he should allow me to read his story (which on several chapters of his story so far on the RCWP site is ended with the remark "Revised December 2006") before the rest of the readers had access? I may be thin skinned, but I don't like being flamed. It hurts my feelings. God, am I glad I am not an author! From my POV, if I was going to interpret my message, it would be that I am praising his writing and I suppose it could be construed a compliment that I am so impatient to read more. So My Questions: Do you authors out there agree that I was way off base asking if he had published elsewhere? Do you feel forced to answer if you don't want to share info that is asked of you? Was my question inappropriate to send to this author? Thanks for reading and hopefully replying.
