Graeme I notice all the birthday messages you post. The numbers of posts must add up quickly. Are you taking advantage of CJ being away to compete on number of posts? I don't think one message a day will work for you if you intend to take CJ on for busiest post-er. On the other hand, for me, this rounds out my number of posts to 50! Well worth an effort even with little to say or add to the world.

Well this mesage got posted twice so I edited it and will just say I got to the less memorable post number 51 without meaning to. Oh well..

Diabetes Type 2 cannot turn into type 1. Type 1 happens when the body's defence(immune) system attacks and kills all the pancreatic cells that produce insulin. Insulin is essential so that the body can use the energy we eat. So for Type 1, injections are essential for life. Type 2 diabetes is when the body makes less (but there is always some) insulin but the second and usually the biggest change is often that the body cells do not let the insulin transfer the sugar out of the blood and into the muscles and other cells as quickly as before (called insulin resistance). All adults have less insulin over time and our cells don't let the insulin move the sugar. So with diabetes these changes are already exagerated and with time these changes progress whether or not you already have diabetes. Even if you have a "perfect" diet and exercise everyday, the body has changed and most people need oral medicine to help keep blood sugar normal. But due to ongoing changes over time, a diabetic ( type 2) may need more (amount or kinds) medicine to keep blood sugar normal. Insulin is just one more option. In itself, insulin does not mean you have more severe diabetes nor do you become type1. Both diabetes affect the body's ability to use sugar but they are not on one continum of severity. frances

The RCWP site usually published stories that have already been published elsewhere. I wrote to the author of one story that I found quite creative and asked him if he had already published this particular story elsewhere, as I was keen to find out what happens. A couple of weeks later, he wrote back saying he could not decide whether to "ignore your ass" or "flame you". His reply was 1. Why should he tell me about other sites? Why should he be forced to tell me any info? and 2. How dare I think myself so special that he should allow me to read his story (which on several chapters of his story so far on the RCWP site is ended with the remark "Revised December 2006") before the rest of the readers had access? I may be thin skinned, but I don't like being flamed. It hurts my feelings. God, am I glad I am not an author! From my POV, if I was going to interpret my message, it would be that I am praising his writing and I suppose it could be construed a compliment that I am so impatient to read more. So My Questions: Do you authors out there agree that I was way off base asking if he had published elsewhere? Do you feel forced to answer if you don't want to share info that is asked of you? Was my question inappropriate to send to this author? Thanks for reading and hopefully replying.

I can't track down two stories. 1. A high school victim of bullies has his jacket stolen/thrown out. He walks without a coat into a storm. A jock type pulls up and offers the guy a ride. They get stuck (in the snow) overnight in the jock's car. 2. In college, a guy loses both his parents. His room mate gets the orphan adopted into his own family. The guys become lovers. After a couple of years, the guy cheats on the "orphan" with a girl, gets married, has twins. wife dies. Guy wants to get back with orphan guy - and they will be parents together. Please help out if you can. For unfathomable reasons, it is driving me crazy! Thanks

I read recently that Canada is planning to change the age of consent for medical based decisions ( e.g. a teen can get treatment, abortions, contraceptives, etc) without parental consent or knowledge from age 14 (where it is now) to age 16. On the other hand, sex between partners is legal as long as the partners are less than 5 years apart. so like an 18 year old and a 13 year old, etc. I did not spend much time on the details so my news may not be exactly accurate but close enough. Are these laws similar to those in other countries?

Maybe your parents' marriage did not fall apart because of the affair. Maybe the affair was a sign that your parents' relationship - based on feelings or behaviours of both - had already failed but that no legal separation had yet taken place. In other words, your dad's affair made him look in the wrong ( & I guess was) BUT that does not mean that your dad's affair caused the breakup - although it probably caused the push for legal divorce. You will never hear the whole story and anyway there are two stories (at least) if there were two people. From the advanced age of 44, my experience has been that the dynamics of relationships are more covert and much more complex than they look from the outside. In addition, both people in a relationship affect most decisions and behaviour. Yes, one person can do something wrong or hurtful with the partner being totally innocent. But the rights and wrongs in a relationship are rarely that clearcut. If you could assume that the divorce (and therefore the possiblity of the new marriage) was not only your dad's fault, would you want to be there?

Shadow's Fall, is the story a book you are looking for, a short story, an e story or what? Also by old, I didn't check to see your age , but how old is old to you? In other words, have you got any time frame - Are you are talking.. 1-2 years - 10 years..... Any info about how the protagonist helped his friends.....was there detail on the stock market or was that just an aside to explain how the guy got rich? I have some ideas of stories that might fit but I need a bit more info before I go searching.

So I was checking up on you and am glad to note that you were still alive and on the as of this morning. Glad to see you are managing to tough it out. Remember that we care and that we are real people out there in the "real' world. It may not make the pain go away but hopefully it makes the pain a little more bearable. keep up the good fight. :2hands:

"Now I know I am not alone" by Dimi & Joey in the story archive is incredibly sad by the end. I challenge anybody to finish this story without crying. Hey Hi College Guy Do you notice how many people have tried to show you caring? sharing their own experiences? worrying? these same people live in the real world too - not just on line. I guess I would add that if it helps you might keeping the idea of killing yourself as a extreme option and way out of the pain. In the meantime, try and exist from moment to moment and the pain does at some point go away - maybe not for ever - but each time you have more proof that you can survive during the pain and that it will end. i have learned that depression/mental illness actually changes how i view the world and that I know now that I cannot relie on how I feel when I am down. What I feel and perceive is not accurate and I have to try to ignore the feelings and remember that I do not think about wanting to die when I am not sick. i hope that you can manage too. FM

Yeah, if I find an author I like, I track down everything else of that person's that I can find.. even if I might have to pay for other stories. In addition, if the author publishs in different places, I may come across an author I like, which I might not otherwise have found. fran

Hopefully you haven't already dyed it before I give my opinion! For sure, bright pink will give get you attention. If I saw a high school aged guy in our town with pink hair, being gay is not what would come to mind. brave maybe. So although I have never heard about rainbows being related to being gay until I joined this forum, if most of your school is more knowledgeable of such things than I, getting rainbow streaks might be outing yourself -much more than pink would. On the other hand, if you can bear to spend the time, having a variety of colours would really get you lots of attention. I am sure you could not beat multicoloured hair. My vote for a dye colour would be bright purple. And it is sure to go with any wardrobe! Let us know what you decide. post a before and after photo if possible. Frances

I was linked to gaystoryman from an ebooks site. Enjoying those stories, I googled and found this site. I joined after writing an email to underthehoodster who had just been hosted ( I think that is what he wrote) and he encouraged it. I was pretty uncertain anybody would read a straight middle aged female's point of view. Although still unsure, I figure I can write anyways.... Fran
