  1. Who is picking on whom?
  2. The short story is where I like to live. I don't have try to keep remembering characters or situations. But those aren't the only tales I tell. I love the Anthologies for the reason the work in them is short. I don't have to spend weeks going over them but even there sometimes and idea is bigger than what can be held in a short story. When I put Strange Family, Unusual Lovers, and Other Jobs up for the Anthology I had people tell me there was so much more they wanted to know and wouldn't I expand it to a full tale. Well I just began to post that now as the Strange Life of Jonas Marks. There is a richer fuller tale now, mainly thanks to Andy, being told. I think if you have a short story and it works, wonderful. However if that story grows into a full novella or novel then so be it. Just don't try to force the story or characters to fit your desires but let them fit the tale being told.
  3. Maria, You have worked with me on my poetry before. I am whore when it comes to betas and editors. I want honest opinions and if something isn't working I want them to tell me. I prefer anything I put before a reader to be the best I can make it. Nothing drives me more crazy than to put up a story and then find the error. I trust the beta and editors to be honest with me. If something they are suggesting about the story needs to be looked at, I will do it. However if it is a case of "Do you really want the character to shop there?" or "Why is the character always in blue jeans?" those aren't important to my story and will be ignored. The final thing about anyone working with you, is they will make suggestions to improve your work. However if you feel that they don't work with you, or the suggestion is counter productive to your story, ignore it. You are the author. When it comes to spelling, punctuation, and the rest all I can say is find a great editor and stay with them. They are worth their weight in gold.
  4. I'll add to that list of problems. The first piece that I really put here was Accidents Happen. It began and I had no problems in the beginning writing it. However shortly after the midpoint I began to feel like main character was driving me nuts. I was more than willing to ;et an "accident" happen to get me out of writing it. I found that putting it to the side a bit and working on another story or prompt helped me by taking me out of my distractions dealing with AH. Then I could come back to it fresh. I've learned an important thing in writing AH. I now write at least more than half of any story before I begin to post it. It gives me lead space if I run into a problem and allows me time to fix it. However, I did feel I owed it to my readers and Charlie to complete it. Already I've had people ask if there will be a sequel, the answer is "NOT IN THIS LIFETIME!" lol
  5. Mystery novels are fun but big things to remember is where and when you are setting it. Agatha Christie and Sir Conan Doyle have rich detective stories with people from all walks of life. The thing that makes them so much fun is the way the story is written and the fact that at that time, DNA and crime labs didn't have all the tools they do now. Then it was sheer brain power. I can't say I've written a mystery although I have been involved in a writing group where we constantly were passing our chapters back and forth and one of my group kept his work solidly in the fifties for just that reason. It meant researching the music, clothing, cars, and crime techniques of that time period but the story was incredible.
  6. Most of my works don't include a villain per say. There are situations that people work for where you might dislike them but they are working from their societies norms, which aren't ours. However then there are the villains in my fairy tales. Face it, if you are rewriting Snow White or Sleeping Beauty you need your villain. The main thing is I can't just the Evil Queen or the Wicked Fairy, I have to give the reader some reason to understand them. In Snow White it vanity that is her down fall. You see her working with creams and powders trying to hold off the march of time. In Sleeping Beauty Surprise it isn't so much that the fairy wasn't invited to the christening as much as it was she felt she had been passed over by King Lou who she had an unrequited love for. I think you have to show the flaws in cracks in the armor for a villain as much as you do the hero. The villain might be better at hiding their soft spots but they still have them.
  7. Happy Birthday Joey May all your wishes and dreams come true.
  8. Didn't I ask how much attention he wanted not from who?
  9. How much attention do you want?
  10. Bad Breath! When you are sad, what thing always makes you smile?
  11. I think everyone does it at one time or another. You over do. I'm one of those foolish people who hates to say "no" unless I have to. I always find time to listen to others, be there when I can for others. I don't have a pot or window so can't do financial for people but my time is theirs if they need it. The thing is a few people too many lately have been tapping me and I'm just about tapped out. Funny how the guy who can listen to anyone hates to open up himself, but I am a bit stressed and tired. I've had a cold and tried to rest but a few people can't take a gentle hint and I don't usually have the heart to just say "Go the hell away." There are some people who are so gentle you don't mind helping and others you want to just talk to. However there are still others who only seem to take and take and take. These are the ones who never let you recharge or give back to you. Tonight I finally had to tell one goodbye. It isn't that he is a bad person it is the fact he is always in crisis, wants to tell you his problems, but doesn't care if you are sick and really can't concentrate on him. When push comes to shove, sorry I still have myself to worry about and I can't let you take me down if you don't want to try to save yourself. I needed to vent a bit. Sorry if you got stuck reading it.
  12. lol. I've been single so long if I did that they would decay from lack of use. Is there an outfit you put on when you want to feel attractive?
  13. My greatest shame is probably not being able to tell Lee how I felt about her before she passed. As for cartoon movies - anyone look at my avatar lately? Yes. From DC comic movies, to Disney, to anime, to just about anything. I have a large collection. What cartoon character is your favorite bar none?
  14. No can't say I have. I've gotten to know my exs before i dated any of them. I'm no runway model and neither were they. Where is your favorite place to take someone who has never been to your neighborhood/area/ state before?
  15. Not unless it is scotch neat. Have you ever played with food during sex?
  16. Are we talking about KC's height?

  18. The ability to compel people to tell the truth.
  19. calamari. I am allergic to shell fish and avoid most sea food because of it but liked Calamari. What is your favorite meal?
  20. Guilty pleasure is watching the musicals my mother collected before she passed. White socks are just not to be worn outside of gym really. Where do you find yourself most at peace?
  21. Just one. I am always immobilized, naked, beaten, and left hurting in a room with no windows. I scream and scream but there is never anyone to help me and as I collapse to the floor I see the dogs being let into the room. At that point I always wake up in a cold sweat and can't get back to sleep. What was your favorite book growing up?
