  1. No. The OneDrive folder doesn't work. Seen as empty. Or, "Not your original folder, locate the original" Oddly, after I verified copies were available offline, I was able to manually upload it like a normal file. Manual update it is. This is why people generally have ONE service they use. They don't play nice. Hmm. Chrome extension claims it will do this thing. All I have to do is create an account with THEM and feed them all my others./ One account to rule them all? Or one point of failure? Cloudhq, any users here? Anyone have another solution.
  2. Also: Who wonders how many have died trying to get Com's notebooks? Minefield, Laser grid Dire Wolves, Vampire Panthers, the list goes on I'm sure. Extraplanlar guardian? Probably. No thanks. I'll just... Keep Calm and Wait for Comicality #I Want to Live
  3. I was going for irony there. But thanks.
  4. With Windows 10 and OneDrive everything is synchronized and when it's working it's glorious. This article has reminded me of something though: The first file I ever tried using the cloud to make available anywhere, is my budget spreadsheet workbook. Design on my desktop, make notes on my phone, my laptop when I was on vacation, awesome. Until... Microsoft had some kind of glitch. the glitch isn't necessarily relevant so I'm going to put it in a spoiler to save room. The problem was on their server not my device or my file, and they fixed it. Without ever acknowledging the problem was there. And this one time, at (band camp XD) work, a few weeks into having our shift notes and shift schedule in cloud files, Our entire campus lost its internet service. No internet, no cloud. One was scary, one was frustrating. I wonder if Google has a program you can install on your computer to automatically synchronize files on your computer hard drive with your Google Drive. I think so... XP I wonder if I could set it to automatically copy the folder that automatically synchronizes with my OneDrive. anytime my desktop is on the two would synchronize. I must try this. Then I should get my external hard drives in on this too. because if I had to have the same panic attack over a story? Oh. Oh! One time, The Office 365 cloud at work was broken even though the internet wasn't. I have an iCloud, I guess... *cough" Rotten Fruit *cough* I can't do the paper and pencil thing, I write very slowly, and tire quickly. After about a page I wouldn't be able to read my own writing. Oh, this one time when I was a kid I was away from home for a few weeks, somebody spilled something on a notebook full of story ideas stuff while I was gone. Ruined. ( when I was a kid, kids did not have access to their own computer all the time) My advice to you pencil pushers is scan a copy of your notebooks. Maybe use loose leaf paper in 3-ring binders, have a scanner with a document feeder, and be careful not to crinkle the corner edges. No solution is perfect, spread the seed of your creativity to as many places as you can. Edit: using Microsoft Office and one drive, OneDrive automatically creates periodic versions that you can view or switch back to. especially useful on a spreadsheet.
  5. Hmm. What to say? There are mistakes here I think I've made. There are characteristics my writing could easily have if I take something too far one way or the other. I can't think of anything I actually skipped parts of once I start reading it. My nature is to read it as the author intended even if I don't read the next chapter. I'm glad this thread is here though.
  6. My plan this weekend is to follow the rivers and chase the squirrels... For reference: On three things In my ideal order: Chapter 2 of 2. My anthology entry (now or never) - voted "most behind schedule" by the cast and crew in my head. 3. Chapter 8 of what's described here. ISO beta reader (post up in writers club) I was finishing chapter 7 at midnight a few weeks ago and thought I would go to bed and write down the start of chapter 8 in the morning... lost it. Still trying to slug through it the hard way. 4. old school freeform character role-playing sheets, backgrounds motivations, settings 5. any other squirrels I managed to catch That's right, you get to put up with me in this board now, too.
  7. Most (okay i think all) of my forum posts, PMs, and email I write on my phone. Since November, chapter reading and proofreading has been on my tablet. (10in Kindle Fire) with or without Bluetooth keyboard. If I don't put the tablet on a table and use a keyboard, i may look up in 5 hours and find I... well, can't. Hehe. Spotify has been my DJ since Groove Music pass went the way of Zune. :'( Found it has stuff Pandora doesn't. Not that i notice much. Writing music is usually punk rock. Apparently not a lot new there. (Also :'() I can't have Netflix or other movies/TV on, or I get drawn in. In fact, I find the less TV I watch the easier it is to write. Well, to sit in front of the word processor. Hehe. There's other word-vomit about my process. So I'll fight the urge. (Almost forgot. My CocoaMotion seems as vital as the tablet lately. (Think of a HUGE blender with a heating element) Mmm hot chocolate)
  8. Speaking of aha moments, this thread just gave me one. According to my grammar, and my editor, I write in third person. I'd agree. But, and here's the epiphany. I do it as though I were in first person. I think it's an artifact from the origin story of my present writing style. What I mean is although the grammar is 3rd, as I'm sitting there writing, my stream of consciousness writes everything from the perspective of a single narrator. This comes to mind: "phenomenal cosmic power, ity bity living space." That's not to say I never break from that narrator, but when I do I do it completely. If I change heads, it's like changing channels. Completely independent. Game of Thrones does what I'm talking about. Though, in a very much more refined form. And you fine folks haven't seen any of the works where I actually show another perspective. I did originally go on from "completely independent"and start talking about my own writing. Trying to build examples, and then I started talking about a massive cluster fuck of flawed implementation. But then I realized, it was outside the scope of this thread, and I have a blog. So I'm going to take my flowing river of babble and keep you all from the Splash Zone. This time. Don't get used to it. It's too bad, I was on a roll.
  9. Bit morbid, there. I like it anyway. Hehe. You've reminded me of a set of articles by @Lugh. (Which are awesome and funny. Murdered muses, suffering slugs, and more. I'm just too lazy to look them up. XP.) I often make use of two things to relay my thought process. (Ok, 2 suggestions: Formatting controls at the bottom [so they move with you as you write these. 《Especially when margined for mobile posts become inconveniently long to scroll back up》] And bulleted/numbered lists. With or without indent controls.) Squirrel! Oh! Case in point! I didn't even plan that. Ok, where was I? (As if any of you know...) 1. The squirrel gag from UP! (Disney/Pixar) someone else's compilation of squirrel moments from the movie They are a close relative of Plot Bunnies. Thus my point of relevance. My squirrels are fast, agile, clever, demonstrate cooperative tactics, some are carrying smoke peanuts and fragmentation acorns. ( translation - they're hard to catch, and when you corner them they fight back) When I catch a really important one, whole squads of it's family regiment will attempt to overwhelm my position and stage a rescue. (The Air Corp [flying squirrels] are particularly effective, and adorable) I think it's happening, I was supposed to be on number 2 by now. Take cover! Prisoners of imagination must therefore be catalogued and interrogated quickly. Sometimes, I must stage a strategic withdrawal back to secured ground. 2. Rivers and Streams of Consciousness My thoughts and ideas, my words and phrases, exposition, description, dialogue, actions, reflections, all unfold in a largely continuous flow from (hopefully) beginning to end. The natural process of decision making, through the voice of my narrator and the reactions of the cast and the world, move the story. Ever try to pause a river? Unless you're Batman, freezing a river isn't in the cards. An idea river? "foggetaboutit." Not gonna happen. I've lost scenes, chapters, entire acts to the simple fact the river kept going while I couldn't write it down. Season the whole environment liberally with jungles, dark woods, swamps, quicksand, and other hazzards i must carry chase them, and mutant squirrels that look like large predators. Tigers, bears, bugbears, ratmen (The European Verminati or the Asian Nezumikuza), the list goes on, and you'll have a rough idea. It's somewhere between "it's dangerous to go alone" and "abandon all hope ye who enter here," with a pronounced lean to the Dante side of things. Added fun: my mood radically alters the landscape, the currents, the types, temperament, and armament of the squirrels. This one time, even though I still had the the map, the overview, and a lot of other supports, the entire contenent was impassable for most of oh... six years. Hmm... how long was i dormant? Yeah, that's about right. I hope the whole place didn't turn into one of those only above the water every so-many years Magic Turtle Islands. I did *not* authorize a giant turtle. Did something just bellow? I better... I just saw a plump squirrel, I'll see you guys later. *dives into the brush* *fading voice* " I've been experimenting with digital tape recorders, I keep leaving them behind and then getting the ideas..."
  10. Yep. The only time I've stressed over including sex is when I needed something that needed to slip under the gaydar. For a while I had two versions of that first post-puberty story. One the way the writer intended, and one for when family went "so, what is it you've been writing for so many hours so many days in a row?' Let's just say your neighborhood VampireMystic kept his coffin in the closet. Funny fact: first time I outed myself I was busted writing erotica. At like 2am so I could use the dial dial-up internet. Not funny: all the yelling after. See earlier post for evidence of agreement with "sex is dialogue" Plenty of stories like that. It's practically a mainstream cliche. Even if the sex doesn't happen: Observe Boys A and B rough housing. At a certain point Boy B is on top of boy A. Boy A gets a certain light headed "a whole bunch of blood just went below his belt line" "queer in the headlights" look. Boy B: Dude! Why'd you pop wood? You're always so weird! Let's play Sega! End scene Cliches are because they're true. ( The boner can be on either boy, of course. In my imagination, in that situation gravity would be creating extra friction because of all that weight pressing down. Not A top/bottom thing.) Which reminds me: Comsie, when are we gonna see Justin and Taryn switch it up? *Giggles* (so far as i noticed, they haven't. And now that I've said this in public I'm probably wrong.) Good indicator I think. My own development as a romantic will have to be discussed elsewhere.
  11. the vast majority of my pages are sitting on hard drives and thumb drives and in clouds. The only besides myself that have seen certain of it that I can actually name are... I see them in the back. Hi you two. Hehe So you'll have to take my word for it when I give where I'm at. I struggle with this. Either it begins very much in medias res... *blink* aren't I fancy today. It means "in the middle of things" or... it begins like someone old-school, like Dickens. either something's happening when the lights come up and the setting gets explained as we go or you watch the world slowly form in front of in detail before you even see anyone who would be capable of doing something. Like watching a computer game load in the 90s. XD Either so little detail it might be too little OR so much a set crew could build it but you've completely lost why you were there in the first place. I'm still very much looking for the Middle Road. So be sure to include lane guidance in your comments on my future stories.
  12. It is my bliss that there be sex in my stories. There has been since I rediscovered my passion for writing at 16. That's one of the only positives of... Nothing to see there folks. Move along. (Why not just delete the line? I don't know.) I started reading erotica on Nifty Archives. At that time of my life books were still exclusively on paper so I couldn't buy any books that I didn't want my parents seeing the covers of. I later acquired a few that I ordered from Barnes and noble that were subtle. "A Strong and Sudden Thaw" comes to mind. (Advent of ebooks I could shop for and read gay fiction invisibly. ^.^ ( it was my Amazon account) *cough*) *check notes* Ah! With Nifty it was very much luck of the most recently updated draw. Much was thin plots and lots of sex. (And this predates that Barnes and Noble shopping) but I wanted something more, what I couldn't put my finger on. ( I have a point I promise) Some things happen, the seeds of some ideas are sown, a certain Shack gets suggested as somewhere I should go read, more seeds... I start taking the nuts and bolts (mostly nuts :D) of what people are doing each other on Nifty, tossing it in a bowl with bits and pieces of different anime and TV shows and movies and other books, pour it through the filter that is my voice and onto the page. Sex, world building, plot, characterization, emotions, and me. And people liked it. People that had actually had sex wanted more of what I was streaming onto the page. (Hehe) (A vivid imagination, a good vocabulary, a better than expected for your age writing ability, and a romantic idealism, can get you pretty far. XD) I've grown up, had some sex of my own, even. But, in 15 years, I haven't really changed the formula I found then. Characters drive the story. Things happen and they think, feel and react to them. Each has a personality, a history, and reasons for what they do and what, and whom, they like. When sex happens, even if it's just two boys that have needs, but aren't a couple it isn't gratuitous because they've experienced something and it informs everything after. (even if you've only gotten your rocks off, if it's your first time getting your rocks off, you're going to think differently afterward even if you don't realize it) If I've done my job right, the before during and after, the thoughts and feelings of a sex scene are as inseparable from the story as the bandits and monsters and innocents in danger. If I can "skip" what they say, think and feel in a sex scene without some kind of a " wait, when did they start acting like that with each other, where did he get that idea, When did that happen?" moment... it belongs in my scrap bin. Take my Predators, ch 1 (more soon) skip the steamy bit there, actually cut the entire scene, and you'd have no idea why the people do what they do after. If you want to tune out the what's getting slowly whatever'd, and what he did to such an such to make him gasp, you'll be alright. But, I think what they touch and how they touch it can tell you a lot about a person. Just don't stop listening to the characters. They'll tell you everything you need to know. Umm... *cringes and looks at a sea of faces askance.* That's how I bring sex into a story. Thanks for listening.
  13. Hmm... Mmmm... Mhmm... Yes, yes... That could be...
  14. Adventure is guaranteed upon entry into this area. Wear a helmet and mind the rubble, there's a lot of construction going on around here. You've come along at the very beginning of... if this was Hollywood, they would call it a reboot. How I got here is a long story, and I have enough things I'm working on. *Drum sting* I'm finally finishing the beginning of my career here. Because coming back is inspiring the new energy, instead of the reverse, you, and everyone here, get to be witnesses to the entire process, rather than simply a grand reopening with everything so prepared it's ready for out-of-town relatives. Predators chapter 1, 2011 may be old but the story is not dead. I give hope, not timetables. More soon. The previous entry will tell you about the one exception to that rule about timetables: Predators: 2-14-9X. You can see chapter 1 now over at http://www.Imagine-magazine.org at a lovely place run by @Comicality and friends. Or, if you are a homebody and don't wanna leave G.A. have no fear. The story will be premiering here early April first. (No foolin') and then every first of the month thereafter, one month behind the magazine. Keep an eye out for more commentary in the forums and on stories. Be sure to read the stories and the comments you'll be entertained by both, I hope. And I have more thrills in store. For the time being I'm a work in progress, but hey, aren't we all? Please excuse the mess
  15. Thanks, @Timothy M. Imagine if I had hit your "spot" commenting on the next article. Awkward XD My only agenda is my release schedule. *Snicker* Sent you to the gutter, didn't I? Some of you, maybe? No? Moving on. -_-' (It makes a sweat-drop emoji face @BlindAmbition et al) Content, people! Most of it is simply the order I want to finish projects in. I'm comfortable pledging you will want to stop by the first of the month. Oops, I did it again! @Comicality, I'm blaming you. Oh, thanks for all the reactions. It's my first post to evolve. Do I use it to roam the website battling other posts now? *Runs again* ( humor is my default response, maybe I should do a blog entry about it. It's my first blog, no idea what to do with it.)
  16. I thank you for the mention. I thought it an apt illustration of the point I was trying to make. And an opportunity. ^.^ it felt like irony to me, but I'm not sure it really qualified. And it got me my first when the post gets an orange banner with a heart on it thing, so, cool! Thanks again.
  17. Self promotion... I took a few seconds on Google: Promotion sounds great! A few more seconds: self-pro·mo·tion noun noun: self-promotion; plural noun: self-promotions the action of promoting or publicizing oneself or one's activities, especially in a forceful way. "she's guilty of criminally bad taste and shameless self-promotion" here we see a difference between the direct meaning of the words and the difference between the meaning we ascribe to them emotionally. ( denotation and connotation) I think the definition above, and especially the example demonstrate that there exists cultural biases against the concept of self-promotion. In many places, people are made to feel bad about self-promotion. I know it goes against my nature. ( how much is my nature and how much is the nature my family wanted me to have, is a whole different thing) I think I could go on, maybe I'll do a blog post about this. Uhh... sorry, saw a squirrel. But being aware of this struggle within myself.... Ugh... *fidget* I'm an author. I have some stories posted, and I have a Blog. Some of you might enjoy reading something that I've put out there. So, you know... Thank you for your time. *Runs*

    Story

As he was sitting in that closet wondering if he should act: I expected a symmetrical thought. He was so quick to bring it up with his girlfriend (*snicker*) after all. Protection. He was so worried about contraception he forgot about STDs. He's about to plow my little brother and he didn't bring a rubber? Not today! "No, no, you got it all wrong! You don't have to STOP, just hang on, I'll get you one from my box." My work here is done' XD (Cute story)
  19. Ever since I made my triumphant return, I've been promising new material "soon." Unless they've changed in the last few hours, I've never seen "soon' on a calendar. Well, today is "soon" enough for me. There's a catch: You've got to head over to https://imagine-magazine.org/releases/ There's a lot of great stuff there! I'd tell you to start at the top and work your way down, but I can't guarantee a certain one will stay at the top of the list. If you look at "Volume 38 Teaser," you'll discover I'm not all boast and no post. But wait, there's more! I'm proud to say that this is just the beginning! That's right! Because I like what I write and I've decided to share, every month you're going to see a new chapter on Imagine's newsstands. I may be a vampire. It may be the product of my blood, sweat & tears. Just believe that I won't be biting any of you to replace the blood. I like what I write. But if it was perfect well… no such thing. Good, bad, ugly let me know what you think as I go. If I’m going to grow I need feedback. https://imagine-magazine.org/releases/volume-38/predators-2-14-9x/ Thanks in advance! ALSO Comicality says the holiday party is going Wednesday to Wednesday. So as long as you’re dropping by,, plant a lawn chair and a cooler, pitch a tent (Of one kind or another. XD *Drum sting*), whatever. The point is, make a bookmark, join the mailing list. I don’t know anything about what he’s planning, but come on, remember who’s running the amusement park. Hehe. *Whap!* ONE MORE THING (90's kids, Grandpa, from Jackie Chan’s Adventures. Anyone? Moving on…) After you’ve hopefully taken a look around, if you happen to think “I can do this,” (If not, trust me, you so can) submissions for the March issue are open until February 20th. Not just stories, anything you want to put out there. (Not ANYTHING, hehe take a look around you’ll see) Just drop Comicality a line at his email. (On his profile, I am promoting myself here. XD ) Self-expression is natural, self-expression is good Not everybody does it, but everybody should (True for other things as well perhaps?) Happy Valentine's Day! -VM

    Chapter 24

"Love isn't just about the way you feel about the other person. It's about the way they make you feel about yourself! " That's part of my truth, too. Though I wouldn't have realized it, until I read it.

    Chapter 21

Okay seriously. I have to quit reading now. I've been shaking for 2 chapters... And I guess I was a chapter count off I'll have to edit my other comment. Umm wow *shakes* Uh Com? No reason. Coincidence really. Okay this comment is coherently incoherent. That is all. I'll write something better tomorrow maybe.. Wow * roll credits on this episode of VampireMystic reacts* Humor... when all else... Yeah

    Chapter 18

Sigh. These things really need a warning label: Do not attempt to read "a single" chapter written by Comicality before bed. You will succeed at reading, but fail at stopping. (Unless it's the newest chapter of something and then it's safer because it stops.) Do not read a chapter by Comicality before work. You will succeed at reading, but fail at working. because you will be sneaking glances at your phone to continue reading. Do not attempt to operate heavy machinery. Do you have your significant other, if you have one, available for communication while reading. There will be *feels.* Share the giggles, wiggles, tears, fears, and the "what are you wearing right now? I'm reading a blowjob" Do be aware that there will be realistic characters. You will be affected by them. Be advised, content by Comicality may induce binge writing. Stressful triggers may occur. Hang in there. And so on and so forth. I'm going to bed. I work in the morning. Let's see if I can follow my own advice. ( besides as of this writing there's 25 chapters. I'm not ready to get to the end. The Comicality fan support group in my head doesn't meet until... XP)

    Chapter 17

And faith is rewarded. I've responded to at least two comments attacking the mother. Yes. From the outside the signals seem obvious. Yes. From the outside it seems impossible not to put the signals together. But I'm telling you (" and I'm telling you" just started playing in my head. Glee version. Squirrel! ) Ahem. I'm telling you that it is perfectly reasonable that something like this goes unnoticed by someone close to it. Even people that think they "know the signs" will miss them. Because there aren't really looking for it in their own house. They have this image of the kid in trouble when they think of it, and it's never their own kid. I could shock a lot of people with what I know can go on in a house and not be noticed. ( although given his fan base, and the stories he gets in his email, I doubt I could shock Comsie). I've defended the mother twice at least. A few chapters ago she stood up for Zack so he could go out. And now we see that she is changing, " waking the fuck up." Here's something I haven't said. it's not the mom's fault that she didn't see. Irt's not Zach's fault that he hasn't told Everything from start to finish, is that bastard's fault. I love that it's not some sudden epiphany, she's not "getting it" out of nowhere at just the right time for the story. we're seeing her progress through in Ark just like any other character. As is realistic. As has been realistic all along.

    Chapter 15

From the previous chapter: ". I grabbed a white t-shirt, some sweatpants, and a pair of socks, and went into the bathroom to hang up my clothes on the shower rod. I toweled off and got dressed without any underwear " I like to read in the dark mode and it screws with things when I copy. Sorry. Watch for those continuity errors boys and girls. I feel like an ass, pointing out something like this. It's not a criticism . It's not a demand it be edited. And I'm not trying to embarrass you, Com. To me, it's like: "see? See? I'm paying attention" I was looking forward to what I thought was going to happen.. I bet you if I reread the reader comments forum thread, something like this should be in an email? Let me know if I'm annoying you oh great one
  25. VampireMystic

    Chapter 12

(I love this emoji) Praise be to the wizard behind the keyboard! ( I might edit every comment I've ever put on a Comicality story to include that.) Hey are you still selling those CDs of My Only Escape? Now that I think about it, I'm praying that the audio files weren't eaten by one of your Infamous computer failures. You've depicted the extremes and abrupt switches in Zack's thoughts well, for me.
