  1. Yes, a classic mistake. He panicked when he was put on the spot and will find it difficult to explain himself if ever it comes to light. His little fling with Alex, happened before he began dating Nathan, but he will have to explain why he has lied about it, and tried to cover it up. Not easy considering Nathan seems to be looking for a way out. It's difficult to see how he can keep this relationship going.
  2. It was a warm Friday afternoon and the first dry day in a wet and miserable week. After Tom’s visit and all the excitement surrounding my birthday and adoption, my life had returned to nearly normal. I liked the security that came with routine but I missed my chirpy Cockney friend and once again, his departure had left a huge gap which was impossible to fill. Ten days was nowhere near enough time to revive a friendship that had been neglected for eight months, and we had only just started to sli
  3. I love this, Will. It didn't take you very long to catch up. There are only a handful of chapters to go now and I'll be posting the next one very soon. I can promise you plenty of pot stirring at the end.
  4. Thanks Will. Of course reading the label and keeping within the prescribed dosage would have been a better idea but not good for the story.
  5. Alex is a victim and it's difficult to see him turning his life around. In reality, people in his position rarely do, which shows how difficult it is. For him to have any chance at all, he needs to get out of his environment and accept that he cannot change things on his own. We'll see. Robbie seems to have an attraction to to dangerous people. He desperately needs some kind of guidance. This has badly lacked this in his life and it's quite obvious yet no one in any position of authority has managed to see the warning signs. Thanks again Will.
  6. I forgot to answer this. You're partly right here because there is a lot of me in the story but I'm thankful that most of the plot is pure fiction. I was never hospitalized like Robbie and I didn't have to suffer an abusive uncle either. It wasn't perfect but whose life is. The early chapters are mostly true. I was adopted by my uncle and moved to Canada aged fifteen after my mother passed away. In real life, my adopted family was much larger than Robbie's. I have five older sisters and two younger brothers. I am grateful to have escaped Robbie's anguish but my life, even as a teen, wouldn't have made very interesting reading.
  7. No, you're quite right it isn't against the law in Canada and it wasn't when the story is set in 2010. This is Don's version of the law or in other words, a deliberate attempt to mislead Robbie into believing he could face some kind of prosecution. Don doesn't really care if it's true or not as long as he gets the right result. He works in advertising remember. Being liberal with the truth is essential if you want people to buy the product.
  8. Yep, teenagers are much the same the world over and they all believe they're different.
  9. Thanks Will. All fixed. This is a good example of the tiny but confusing differences between American and British English.
  10. Thanks Will. Robbie doesn't end up losing his sight but you're right, not good to get in your eye.
  11. I like this comment a lot, Will. You hit the nail on the head, because this is exactly what I wanted to portray. I get a little fed up of reading stories where two teenagers meet and have the most perfect sexual experience, first time out. Almost as if they've known each other for years. Of course, it's never like that in real life and I wanted this to be more realistic when it came to sex. Nathan is nervous and trying too hard. He needs to relax a little but it's his first time, he's only learning. Robbie's a little more experienced and tries to guide him but has problems of his own. They bungle their way through but have the greatest time doing it. I remember doing the same kind of thing.
  12. I don't wish to spoil your fun, Will. But Nicola and Robbie are already becoming closer.
  13. I generally cringe whenever I have to read some of the early chapters, so I have definitely improved. It bugs me sometimes because I wonder how many people are discouraged from reading the story by the bad grammar and wordiness in the first dozen or so chapters.
  14. Thanks again, Will. I love your comments. I still get a little tangled up with American and British English. To make it even more confusing, Canada also has a number of words which are only used here and that's without the slang.
  15. That's always the best thing about reading a story that's finished, or in this case nearly finished. You can read at your own pace. I find it frustrating when i have to wait for chapters to be posted, but I do it to others. It's inevitable when you write a story on the fly. I've promised a number of times, never to start posting a story until it's complete. It's so much easier that way and you can post at regular intervals and avoid frustrating readers. Easier said than done though.
  16. A cow sounds like a good idea. I spent some of my childhood living on a farm where there were cows, pigs, and horses. Nowadays, like everyone in Ontario, I buy my milk in bags. They must have their reasons for doing it. I suspect it has a lot to do with profit but that would be cynical of me.
  17. Yes, I've spent a lot of time crossing the Atlantic. Fortunately air travel has limited my journey time to seven hours as opposed to the five or six days it took the Queen Mary. Most of these moves were forced upon me at an early age and I don't remember much about them but I remember having to change schools a number of times, which was difficult. I was always catching up and in the end, neither country really felt like home.
  18. Thanks Will, I told you it gets better. A couple of days from now marks the third anniversary of posting this story online and I have definitely improved during that time. It's still a work in progress but I'm happy if I can keep on learning and improving.
  19. Wow, that's some drive and to Cobourg too! You should have stopped to visit Robbie and family.
  20. Thanks for a wonderful comment, Will and for pointing out the mistake. I'm liking the troll.
  21. Robbie may well have finally figured out what rocks his boat. You're so right about Nicola, she sees Robbie as a threat to her dominance and believes that he has been playing for sympathy to get around the rules.
  22. It was a big mistake agreeing to pose for Fran. I mean he's trying to break up with her. He needs a little guidance.
  23. Not a problem, Will. Thanks for pointing these out so I can fix them. I'm so pleased you're still reading the story.
  24. Robbie doesn't always choose the sensible option. We shall see what happens this time.
  25. Robbie's not doing himself any favours at the moment by doggedly trying to wear a shoe which just doesn't fit him. He could end up regretting it if he doesn't wake up soon.
