  1. To be very very honest, I was expecting some touching and kissing in the barn. When I was planning the surprise for Axel, I was fantasizing that, after singing the German birthday song, Axel would hold me in his arms and French kiss me. Only a week ago, Axel said he wanted me for his birthday! He said that, and I gave him myself! Why did he say he wanted me if he didn’t mean it? Why? I thought he wanted more out of our relationship. That’s why I spent so much time in setting up the candles and l

    Happy Birthday

hi cannd. first of all, thank you for following this story; it really means a lot to me. Second, for the Axel in characters; it takes like 2 minutes, it's actually quite easy to do that. haha xp. Third, I totally understand why the chapter ending didn't appeal to you. There are 2 reasons why Axel was holding back his feeling. 1) There's something happening in Germany. 2) Something that i hinted in the chapter. The reasons will be revealed in the next few chapters and I hope they will make perfect sense to you. Once again, thank you for your support and telling me how you are feeling with the story. You know, i dont have a beta or an editor and the problem is that I don't really know what the readers are thinking of sometimes. so your words really help me to grow as a writer. Lots of love, JC

    Happy Birthday

Xavier of course did remember what Axel said on the tree. But you know, there are times when you are not so sure of everything. Xavier was so afraid to lose Axel that he would rather keep his feeling unspoken. And Xavier really didn't know 'I want you' was a joke or what. Homosexuality was a taboo in the 40s and not to mention Xavier was a Catholic. More will be revealed in the next few chapters. Thanks for your support, Lisa. It really means the whole world to me.Lots of love, JC

    On A Maple Tree

Thank you KC. You have no idea what your words meant to me. I would have given up this story if it is not for you. Thank you very much for following this and leaving me a review. <3
  6. 1st July 1941. Axel’s 19th Birthday. ‘Good morning.’Axel said, smiling radiantly to all of us. He then settled himself down at the dining table for breakfast. ‘Good morning, Axel.’ Jake and mum replied warmly. Axel did not have a clue about tonight’s well-planned birthday party; everything was kept safely under our hats. We pretended that we did not know today was his birthday. * * * Axel and I immersed ourselves in the farm work as usual. Seeding, plowing, watering, wee
  7. when i compared my writing to yours, i can't help noticing the inferiority in my writing. your story flows so beautifully smooth and everything about your writing is just about right. the use of vocabulary, the portrayal of the characters and the fine descriptions of every little detail are just so flawless. the whole story is just getting better and better and thank you for sharing this great story with us all jc

    On A Maple Tree

Lisa, Thank for catching up with the story. You have no idea how much it means to me. Thank you very much. I really appreciate all your comments and critics. The next chapter is waiting for approval, meaning that it will be out within a day(?). Stay tuned. Lots of Love, JC
  9. After finishing dinner at 8, Axel went to do the dishes in the kitchen. Mum, Jake and I were still sitting at the dinner table, digesting and unwinding. When Axel was safely out of earshot, I announced the big news to them, ‘Axel’s birthday's coming!’ ‘Oh! Really? When?’ Mum said, letting a slow smile spread across her face. ‘First of July.’ I replied. ‘Five days left. When did he tell you that?’ Jake said, looking at the calendar on the wall. ‘Yesterday
  10. The black bear was about half a mile away from us. It was running in our direction at full speed. The sound of its running footsteps was fearfully loud and menacing. The two of us were shocked right down to our toes. The terror was so enormous that my heart nearly stopped beating. We were in the middle of the woods, meaning that we were an-hour walk away from home. Clearly, running back was not an option because when compared to the bear, we ran like two little pathetic snails. In addition, jud

    The Walk

I have actually thought of having Axel teach Xavier German. but the farm boys dont have much time - they farmed all day long and at night, Xavier teaches Axel English. So, i guess Xavier wont have much time to learn German. Thank you for your reviews. I really appreciate it. Next chapter will be out within 7 days. Stay tuned!=) Lots of love, JC

    A Suggestion

I dont know where to check the meanings of different words in the 40s. I looked through the etymology dictionary but it is only about the origin of words which offer no help at all. I wanted to stay consistent with the era, but it's not an easy job. I'm sorry about that BTW, check out the new updates=) Thanks a lot=) BR JC
  14. Late June, 1941. Two whole months since Axel arrived. I woke up at 8. After brushing my teeth, I collected some eggs from the chicken coop and some lettuce from the field. Then, I made a few egg sandwiches for picnic. 'Axel, you have to like my sandwiches; they are for you.’ I thought. Worry filled my entire morning. I smiled to the mirror for more than an hour in the hope of finding a smile that could make me handsomer. At last, I discovered that showing my teeth slightly made me look the

  16. After nights of contemplation, I finally admitted my desire for Axel to myself. I sometimes cried myself to sleep just because I felt so torn inside. I didn’t know what I should do. It was crystal-clear that I felt attracted by him. My longing for him was constantly burning. I couldn’t help it; I couldn’t resist it; I couldn’t stop it from taking over me; I couldn’t stop staring at him anytime, anywhere. He was too gorgeous, too cute, too masculine for anyone to handle. The conclusion that I rea
  17. Oh my god. I re-read my story and what you have pointed out are SO true. Thank you very much for pointing them out. I never notice them when I was writing. I will try my best to move the story forward in the following chapters. I understand that each chapter is a little bit short, but I am quite new to story-telling. it really takes me a lot of time to write one chapter. I will update the story within a few days. I hope you will enjoy it. Thank you for your review. This kind of critics is very very very important to me.

    The Dream

  19. I was lying on my cozy bed; eyes fixed at the muscular figure at the door. ‘Axel, come closer. I want you.’ I whispered. ‘Kiss me. Make me wet and dirty. Axel, hold me tight, make me yours.’ Axel was leaning against the door frame, naked above the waist. After more than a month of hard labor in the farm, his masculinity was at its peak. His six-packs, his well-defined pectoral muscle, his chewable nipples, his bulging biceps, his hairy armpits, his strong hands and his angelic face were b

the story has been so smooth until this chapter. I found it quite hard to believe Andy would tell his father about the lovemaking.

  25. Mid-June 1941. One and a half month since Axel’s arrival Axel was getting increasingly fond of us. Traces of trepidation on his face were no longer visible and were gradually replaced by small smiles. However, I had been forcing myself to stay away from Axel in every possible way - I let my brother, Jake, to teach him all the farming work; I avoided any eye contact with him; I sat at least a meter away from him in English lessons; I ate all the meals at lightening speed in order to prevent m
