  1. You feel they are at their peak, because there is only one chapter left. I am glad to have given you so many good moments.your image of Alex and Ana is more "eewwww" than mine! well done! Oli felt ignored by his father because he vanished all the time. He vanished all the time because he was turning for the full moon. The biggest problem in their relationship all stems from Alex not telling Oli the truth about himself until it was too late. Can you image how much easier it would have been for him even if he'd only just found out before Ruff died?
  2. Want something done, ask a busy person - is the standard phrase. and yes ma, you're right. It's ok though, only three weeks until half term and I can tell the little buggers to sod off (but only in my head)
  3. if only such a thing existed! Werewolf-support chat rooms... *wistful sigh*
  4. Open Evening at school. For those without children, this is the time when prospective students and their parents and carers come to the school to look around and hopefully put us down as their first choice. School placements around here are done on a postcode lottery, affected generally only by sibling or family relations at the school. As the only functional Food Technology teacher in the largest school in the town, it falls to me to get little fingers sticky making meringues and drawing shapes with spun sugar. I made many small children happy and gave them sugar rushes so they could get through the Head's speech. My helper's were awesome: they worked well with the kids, did the washing up, didn't burn too many batches of sugar, and were generally lovely. On the other hand, I spent 12 straight hours in my classroom. not moving around the school, not walking to or from anywhere. 12 hours, in a room approximately 20 feet long. And by the time I left the school building, I realised I would be back there in less than 11 hours time. I understand that many people work long and longer hours, but dear god if I see that classroom again I think I'm gonna cry. Also, in preparation for open evening, I constructed 7 corridor displays, 4 classroom displays and 2 whole walls of giant paper cut fruit and vegetables. This is much more than any other member of staff. And now, I'll sleep.
  5. "you can meet my boyfriend, but only if I'm not there?" - I can't see that going down too well.A house full of photographs - Oli with a wolf, Boris with a wolf, none of them together.
  6. you're right, it is sad, and yet it happens all too often. Shame.
  7. So tempting to write something with that as a prompt...
  8. sorry?
  9. Alex never thought his son was talentless, but he knows the lack of monetary value associated with pure-art jobs.
  10. maybe?
  11. He realised he’d been asleep with his eyes open only when he blinked, and Oli put down his pen with a huge yawn. The motion woke Boris, and the wolf’s jaw creaked like a rusty door hinge. As soon as his tail started to flop from side to side over Oli’s foot, Oli realised it was about time to actually go to bed. He laid the drying sketches out over his work table with a sleepy smile of satisfaction. The delegates from the pet shop chain had adored his concept work. The idea of the goods of the s
  12. gyms are weird. I have been to one, once (ONCE DAMMIT) to look around, and there was this guy on a cross trainer and the timer said he'd been at it 45 mins and he wasn't even sweating! Does the man not have glands? gyms are weird. Give me the wilderness any day. Edit: on the other hand, kind of adorable but sad story. you had been rooting for you though.
  13. thanks hun.I love that bit too, though I love the punch more.
  14. you are the harshest critic! He only griped once about not organising the stag do. And look how nice he was to Robin, how lovely and charming the two of them are together. He is becoming a better person Irri, give the boy a chance.
  15. Be fair, Shas doesn't know the last names of Kieran's friends either, apart from Brian and Hayley. But yeah, he has bitched and whined through every wedding related event so far, but then, so do a lot of grooms - even if only privately in their heads.
  16. The fact that Oli didn't tell his mum is not necessarily a reflection of his mother's attitude or love for him. He knew it was a pipe dream, and even if his father accepted his choice of course and wasn't an ass, moving away to Cambridge was never a feasible plan. Like the guy you fancy who you know is going to be really bad for you. Just because Oli wanted to go, doesn't mean he ever thought he really could. His mum is a good person.
  17. Thank you hun!Aren't they just saccharinely sweet right now? Shastan punched Kieran for many reasons: the shock, the remembered pain of nearly losing him, the breaking of a promise, the non-consultation... lots of reasons.
  18. that was a damn good punch. I don't think Kieran really resents Shas for doing it, more the placement of it. I think he was expecting a blow to the sternum on the abdomen. Split lips a painful in that irritating stingy way after all.Kieran falling in love is sort of hilarious and sweet in my opinion, but you're right, he does drag us all along for it.
  19. The best laid plans of cowboys and wolves... Sure, there was going to be some free time without any on running serials. There was, really. I was going to give myself breathing room. But it happened, like it always does, and after an hour of discussion with a friend, I had a collection of characters jump, fully formed and in glorious Technicolour with Dolby surround, out of my mind and onto the page. And so Tiger Winter begins. Third story featuring bears, set in the same universe as Falling For A Bear and Summer Camp; Tiger Winter stars Emmett Garrick, a Hudson Bay polar bear; his new roommate, a Chinese panda; the roommate's cousin Jian; and Emmett's human boyfriend Zeke. I plan to get the bulk of the writing done before we start to upload, so that I can stay well ahead of the upload schedule, and this will be the last book to go with the other two in the crowdsourced print and e-book published project. So yes, I am writing.
  20. Robin encourages Kieran to race because he can see the way Kieran needs it. There is an energy, a sense of living, a burning sort of desire that holds him when he races. Kieran needs to rake like other people need oxygen: and he had denied himself his needs for a long time. It's no wonder he was so far off the rails.

    Shaking Hips

i love the idea of "scrumptious chapters". it's like my writing can be a replacement for cake...
  22. is that why crabs move sideways?
  23. I remember ones like that in Cambridge, but the one I am basing it off I actually found in Venice. I bought there an olive handled detail brush made from the tail hairs of grey squirrels. They had mouse hairs ones too, and many more exotic types. There was a big flat water colour brush made of badger. I sort of wanted it.
